Finally, after waiting since the beginning of may, I was able to return to the park yesterday with my mom and little brother for a nice "home from college" family outing!
We got there early and sprinted to Deja Vu, where after five minutes of waiting for them to finish up their test runs, a wonderfully nice employee named David, led us up to the ride. We got first dispatch in 1A! And immediately once we got off, the ride broke down. So we went to Demon for the first walk-on of the day, then back to the now working Deja Vu for a back row ride!
I won't bore you with the details of the rest of my visit, but i will, however, tell you what i think you'll find interesting. As far as fright fest decorations, the netting is up around the park, as well as signs for it. Viper's station has the snakes and Eagle's station has the spiders, but other than that, nothing else is up. Not even the Necropolis sign or Tiny.
I was quite impressed with the entertainment today. There was a trumpet player on the balcony in Orleans Place and a great guitarist in the gazebo in Hometown Square which both added to the atmosphere of the park. However, on a negative note, NEVER eat at Papa Johns at 11am!!! The pizza looked like it had been sitting out since opening day and the server was SOOOOO angry at life. I ended up wasting my money cause i couldn't force myself to choke the whole pizza slice down....however, Johnny Rockets, which was where i had dinner, had wonderful service and great food! Lot's of bees, however, outside here and in the farmers market!
I was also able to use up all of my games coupons from the season pass booklet. I got a free Flash headband (with the gold lightning bolt horns and whatnot) since i'm EXTREMELY social, which i wore most of the day, and i got to split most of the buy 1 get 1 free tix with my brother. So all was well in that category. However, on a negative note...CHEERLEADERS EVERYWHERE!!!!! I know to most that would sound like a good thing, but NO WAY! They were all little and about three feet tall (so no hot ones for me, except for one mom i saw later on in the day...) and they were frolicking around with those devilish smiles everywhere you turned. The worst, was when i rode Viper. There were girls in front of me that couldn't seem to realize what line they were in, and they yelled at me for cutting, and the ride ops were stacking hard core, and they sang a cheer the entire time during the ride (one of them even had their Ipod on during the ride) so i was quite frustrated.
Overall, though, the somewhat chilly day turned out wonderful. Pretty decent waits and really decent rides! It was also interesting hearing what my mom (someone who doesn't go to the park too often) had to say about the new changes. To Shapiro, if you're reading (i doubt it), she said the misters and Wiggles World looked great, the only complain she had was the Geiko sign on Viper.....
