Ok so for the summer my family is going to take a trip to Florida and were gonna go to Disney and were not too sure which hotel were gonna stay at because its our first time in Disney so anyone have any suggestions? And were on a 3000-4000 dollar budget but don't really want to spend a lot on the hotel.

yeah, wrong forum but....

If you are going to Disney just for or mostly for Disney you are better off staying on property, they offer all sorts of deals/packages on their one star hotels, though dont expect anything fancy at the likes of All Star and those lesser onsite hotels. If you are only doing disney a few days and doing the rest of orlando also you are better off staying on International Drive in Orlando, and you can find loads and loads of hotels on Orbitz/Travelocity and whatnot, it would be alot cheaper than staying on property and more likely to get a better room, but you're further away from Disney (20 mins or so), though for $2 I believe you can catch a LYNX bus out in front of seaworld and it will take you right to the disney transportation and ticketing center. Also for $10 you can get a week long LYNX pass and you can go anywhere in orlando where the public transport goes, and that include the airport. $2 Airport to I-Drive is an awesome deal (though it's also an hour long bus ride on a public transit bus) :)

Another option is stying in Kississme (sp?), I've never stayed there but hotels there are dirt cheap, but just driving though the area, some hotels looked rather run down while some looked fine, so may be luck of the draw there. I've stayed in some real lackluster hotels on I-drive but nothing really bad or disgusting or anything like that.

All-Star Resorts and Pop Century are the cheapest resorts. They are very nice but are the farthest away from the parks. A very good choice is Caribbean Beach resort, Coronado Springs resort, and Port Orleans resort. They are very nice and moderately priced. A lot of first time guests stay at those resorts and are very happy with them. The locations are decent as well. Fort Wilderness is very nice if you enjoy camping. Its somewhat cheaper and is one of the largest resorts. For you I personally recommend Port Orleans for your stay and if I were you, i would book ASAP!! WDW has been mobbed beyond belief lately.

If you are flying, get Magical Express. It is free and you will be driven to/from your disney resort to/from the airport. They also handle your luggage.

Make sure you book a package and get hoppers. They are $30 more but are worth it if you decide to visit more than one park in a single day. Also, the more days you buy tickets, the cheaper the next day is. Even if you arent staying 10 days, for example, it is a very good idea to buy 10 day tickets and purchase no expiration. It is a small amount more to add the last few days and there is also a moderate charge for the no expiration.

Here are the current base ticket prices.

Well, when i went, we stayed at the Carribian (sp) and it was awesom. Very nice CHEAP food, extremely fun pool with cannon water blasters and one amazing slide. THey also had a private lake with a beach and you could rent boats and jet-skis.

For the fast pass, its only for select rides. All you do is go up to the front of the line and if its available for a flashpass, there will be a booth right at the front. Just remember, the time on the card is the waiting point from the front so be carefull, they're fairly expensive.

The waterparks are AMAZING!!!!!! We went to both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. If you had to choose, it depends on you family. In my opinion, Blizzard Beach (with the expection of a few rides) is more for "younger" families while typhoon lagoon is for the more thrill-seeker type folk. Or if it was up to me, i wouldnt go to either. I'd pay a little more money to go to the new Wet 'n' Wild Orlando which is right outside Universal. That place is better than those two combined, check it out!. http://www.wetnwildorlando.com

^Wrong. Fastpasses are free. Select rides use the Fastpass system. Check the park map for the complete list. When you go up to a ride that has Fastpass, look for the Fastpass machines. Usually there right by the stand-by line entrance. Insert your ticket, and one Fastpass will come out for the time posted. Each person needs a Fastpass. Only one Fastpass is vaild a ticket. Once you get it for one ride, it might be a few hours before you can get another, so choose carefully. Come back at the time listed on your Fastpass ticket, and enter at the Fastpass line. You cannot use your Fastpass earlier than the time listed, but they do allow you to use it after the time has expired. I have done it countless times.

Waterpark fun option i believe adds approx $30 per day. Again it depends on the number of days you wish to purchase.

Most E-ticket attractions use the Fastpass system. Here is a current list:

Magic Kingdom

* Splash Mountain
* Space Mountain
* Jungle Cruise
* The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
* The Haunted Mansion
* Peter Pan's Flight
* Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
* Stitch's Great Escape
* Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Disney-MGM Studios

* Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
* Voyage of The Little Mermaid
* "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror"
* Jim Henson's Muppet Vision 3-D
* Star Tours
* Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!

Disney's Animal Kingdom

* DINOSAUR
* Expedition Everest
* Kilimanjaro Safaris
* Kali River Rapids
* It's Tough to be a Bug!

Epcot

* "Honey, I Shrunk The Audience"
* Test Track
* Living with the Land
* Maelstrom
* Mission: SPACE
* Soarin'

What you do is go to the bank of Fastpass machines near that attraction's entrance. Insert your admission ticket, and the machine will spit out a Fastpass ticket indicating the time you need to return. You then have a one-hour window. For example, the Fastpass may read "Please return anytime between 1:10 p.m. and 2:10 p.m." Go enjoy other things in the park. Return to the Fastpass line at the attraction during the designated time. (You can usually return any time during the day after the first time passes.) Then, a CM will check your Fastpass before allowing you into the line. DON'T DISCARD YOUR FASTPASS TICKET! At many of the attractions, a second cast member will re-check your Fastpass before letting you board the ride. You can't get another Fastpass for any attraction until it's time for you to return for the first attraction OR two hours have passed since you obtained the first Fastpass (whichever comes first).

Make sure you plan ahead and get to the parks early--particularly during peak periods. You'll be able to get Fastpasses with quick return times for the most popular attractions right away, and you'll probably be able to walk onto some attractions as well. Look at the posted standby line time. If it's just a few minutes, it's probably not worth wasting a Fastpass. Just wait in the regular line and use Fastpass later for a more crowded attraction. On less busy days, you may only need to use Fastpass once or twice, if at all. Look at the posted Fastpass return time. There are signs at the entrance of all Fastpass-enabled attractions that indicate the current return times. If it's much later in the day and you're planning to go somewhere else, you may want to skip the Fastpass. Remember, you can't get another Fastpass until it's time for you to return for the first attraction (or two hours have lapsed). Ask cast members if any Fastpass machines are distributing "Surprise" Fastpasses. These bonus tickets, given at the same time as a regular Fastpass, will allow you to skip the line for a second attraction. Look at the posted Fastpass return time and the standby line time. If it looks close, you may be able to get a Fastpass, wait in the standby line, then get back in the Fastpass line for an immediate re-ride. Once you get a Fastpass for later in the day, try not to plan an itinerary that will have you crisscrossing the park. The time you save from Fastpass may be wasted walking all over the park.

Thats all the rides they have. You could try booking your hotel, airfare, cars and theme park tickets together orbitz, priceline, expedia all travel websites offer them even disney. Kissimmees not that bad find a hotel near the Highway 192 area its closer than International drive and they got a bunch of cheap hotels like the Days Inn etc. if you want you could stay near Old Town area it has an amusement park, restaurants and shopping close by and its close to Disney maybe 10 minutes and theyre building a new fun spot there with go karts and rides just like the one by International drive. Lynx bus is close too bus 56 goes to the WDW transportation and ticket center located at the magic kingdom once there you can also ride the disney buses to go to other disney parks saves you on parking and gas and you can transfer to Lynx bus 50 that goes to SEAWORLD but Lynx is never on time and have limited schedule so you cant stay at the park till closing depending on what time the park closes. You can also ride Lynx to Universal but too many buses to ride and takes too long to get there. UNIVERSAL and SEAWORLD has a good deal on tickets on their website you can visit the park for seven days I think for less than $90 go to their website for more info.

I'm pretty excited! so last week I was in Florida at my uncle's condo at Orange Lake which is literally less than a mile away from Disney property.... from the eighth floor of our condo building I could see Animal Kingdom Lodge. Well, over the week me and my mom met up with two Disney reps and toured the Disney All Star Music Resort and LOVED IT! over this coming December our high school marching band The Whitnall High School Marching Falcons are traveling down to Disney to participate in Disney's Magic Music Days! I'm extreemly excited, and I also get to be a member of the student committee for this trip!!!

^The music days are fun! You record a song to a Disney film and can also watch it. Depending on the package, you may also be able to play at Downtown Disney. Its a great experience.
