Building Tatsu tonight on the Discovery Channel

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

If the Park can't get the ride up, tested and ready for the Spring break crowds 2007 this 21 million dollar investment won't be worth a penny.

It sounds like the same thing they said when they had the special on Kinga Ka. They sure love to build up the drama.

When is it on again? I missed the air date.

BTW, I think cable is like this:
Basic Cable (for the Libertyville area at least):
Local channels, abcFamily, FX, Comedy Central, Golf Channel and a few others. (Ch. 2 - Ch. 31)

Extended Cable:
The above channels and other channels like Mtv Nickelodeon, TWC, Spike, Court TV, E!, TV Guide Channel, etc. (Ch 32 - Ch 99)

Premium Cable (digital if you're a Comcrap customer):
All the above, plus HBO, NGC, etc. (Ch. 100 - Ch. ??)

It was alright. Nice seeing the building of Tatsu, but the drama that show has (coaster episode or not) is just too muc for me to handle. Discovery realizes they'll get more viewers with drama rather than just having information.

Side note: Why does Travel Channel have World Poker Tour, anyway? That makes no sense.

I just watched this special, it was very... blah.

Here's the thing we have to build
Here's the people
Here's the drama
Here's the end result.

It would have been nice if they would have shown it from designing to finishing.

I really wish they had gone into a lot more detail... Things like the 200 prox sensors per train that all must agree. The train communications using LaserCOM (Originally RadioCOM) to the master PLC and the PLC's onboard the train itself...

Oh wait sorry I'm just an engineer that gets excited over those things.... :)

a few years ago at IAAPA (winter SUF at SFGAM was being built) the consign people gave me and a few other people a thorough overview and comparason between B&M and Vekoma of the inner workings of the Flyer train, and I got to operate our SUF's control panel which was connected to a computer to simulate operation. Going though all those touchscreens is pretty neat :)

Well it is a tour, and a tour has something to do with travel. That is about as close as I can get to that same question I have been asking myself. And I thought golf was a snoozefest to watch on tv.

It would have been nice if they would have shown it from designing to finishing.

Yes, that would have been a lot more interesting. From the drawing board, to the finishing touches would have been nice to watch.

I think that no matter how the documentary turned out, it still served as a farely good advertisement for the ride. It makes it seem that much worth riding, therefore hopefully generating more interest into attending the park. Too bad i didn't see it. :?

Yeah I saw it and recorded it on dvd, the coaster did look pretty cool. Were it was built in that tight spot was amazing. Yeah I would ride it in a heart beat. 8)

Keep checking the listings if you haven't seen it.

It was a on a few nights ago, and the week before that.

I caught some of it when it was on a few days ago. It was pretty interesting. But kinda funny when they tried to make parts dramatic.
