ValleyFair! announced new GCI woodie - Renegade

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Wohoo, a new wooden coaster at a CF park! And no surprise at all that they went w/ GCI, the guys who make wooden coasters that hold up through the years a lot better than Gravity Group's coasters. No trims either...looks like another winner from GCI!

Looks really cool, I should get out there next year to ride it, but it looks kinda short.

I like the drop!

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

I LOVE the first drop.
Quite possibly the coolest thing I've seen in awhile.

Though I don't see a lot of normal hills during the ride...a slightly short one at that.

We'll see how it turns out.

Looks like a great ride! I was possibly planning my first trip there next year anyway, so this will be perfect. Although the ride seems rather short, I think the video had the trains going quite a bit faster then they will actually go. The website claims about a 2 minute ride, and the video lasts exactly a minute. Maybe add 30 seconds for the first half of the lift hill and another 30 in actual ride time when the train goes a bit slower during its run.

No, the trains are moving at normal speed, the rest of the time is the brake run and the lift hill.

I have mixed feelings about this addition. It is definitely a needed addition to the park and the GCI woodies with Millennium Flyers are the best out there, however, there is something about the layout I just don't like. It seems like there are no hills and as for the first drop, it's cool, but it reminds me of the coasters i design in tycoon. Still, it should be a good ride and it's nice to see it going to a park that could use a new coaster or two.

Besides the first drop, this ride seems to be a bit similar to the other recent woodies built, but it still looks like it has great banking.
