9/17 - Bad day

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby FRD714 on September 17th, 2006, 8:17 pm
Got to the park at about 10:45 and noticed the parking lot was pretty empty for a sunday. I was very surprised. Walked into the park no problem, and it was pretty much dead.

Went to SUF first becuase my cousin wanted to ride. I warned her its not worth it, but she didnt listen.
Image

About 30 minutes later we were riding in row 6. It did in fact suck.
Image

I wanted to go to V2 next, but of course everyone wanted to ride Batman. Had about a 10 minute wait for row 6.
Image

Finally we get to ride V2. Using no switchbacks, the line was almost at the entrance.
Image

Kind of a long wait today for front row, but it was worth it.
Image

Then things got bad.....
Image

5 minute wait for front row. Definetely wasnt worth the wait.
Image

It was almost 1pm, so we decided to eat. Went over to Picnic Grove for some FREE food. It was pretty good too. Better than that overpriced Papa Johns crap they call pizza.
Image

While eating, I noticed some cool new theming that interacts with you.
Image

I went back to V2 again becuase we had to pass it. Shorter wait this time for some back row fun.
Image

Whats next on the list......American Eagle of course. Blue side is still closed, so we did red.
Image

The line was so long. But wait, is it me, or is the blue train on the wrong side? Anyway awesome ride in front row.
Image

Hmmm......walls with arms.....yay.
Image

Giant Drop looks like its down for quite some time.
Image

I saw Dejavu was still open, which was shocking.
Image

So while in line, I was looking at some pics on my camera, I look up and the sky is black all the sudden. Were almost to the station though. Just 2 more cycles. But we werent fast enough.....it started to pour.
Image

But I was almost there!!!!
Image

So it turned out to be a bad day. After we sat in the station for 20 minutes, we left and noticed nothing was open. It was clearing up to, but no signs of life anywhere. So we just left after walking around, and as soon as we got to the car, we see all coasters testing. Oh well, theres always next time.

Totals:
SUF: 1
BTR: 1
V2: 2
Iron Wolf: 1
Eagle: 1

^^^... when the rain came down. Spell Checker!

I believe the word of the day was maudlin, or something in that order. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=maudlin

I have had a really great day today, and it started on 10:30. :D I started the day with a couple V2's (3). This was a walk on first, and then station waits. I then proceeded to Batman The Ride, and did that twice, I believe. Next, was the swings because it was in the area of course. Next, was the Devil. I mean Iron Wolf, and the line long whatsoever. I did Demon a couple times, and then I went on the Orbit. Demon also didn't have large wait. The rest of the time until 3:40, I went on the Whizzer.

I just got so addicted to this ride that I had to keep riding it. We even got stuck for around 10 minutes, and it didn't bother me. The good thing was that they gave me a free drink. So, I was thrilled!! :D I must have gotten greater than 10 rides. The line seemed like it was only 10 or less minutes each time. They would have the grouper stop people, and they didn't send a lot of people into each row fast at first. After the Whizzer, I got my drink, and then went out to eat.

This when the your day got bad (FRD714). It was downpouring right when I got to the restaurant. At 5:00, I returned to the park. :D :D It was time to go on some rides on the left half of the park because I would figure that the Whizzer and Deja Vu wouldn't be open. Sure enough they were open, but they then closed like a lot of rides in the park. I did Condor first which was a walk-on followed by Superman. This was only a station wait, and of course I did it again. It just so fun unlike what other people say. Big Easy Balloons in the rain was fun!!! The balloons don't get you wet when it's not going, but soon they really get you when it's going.

V2 was next, but it closed down because of the rain. So, I chanced myself on the swings again!! :D In the inside of the swings, you don't get that wet!! Considering that V2, and Batman were closed, I walked back in Columbia Plaza, and eventually found Space Shuttle America. There were enough people on this ride. It took awhile because the other movie was just starting. Demon was next with about 2 or 3 rides, and I finished the night going all the way back to Superman.

I had a great day today!!! I wish everyday was like this. Rides weren't that packed, and I got a free drink.

NOTES:
New things that I saw from yesterday, and today was that, the park added new exit signs. They say that you can't get back in on Saturdays and Sundays after 7:00, and on Fridays 9:00, or it's something like that. On the other side, it says about going in a line to get your hand stamped checked.

I just recently seen this, but Batman has a new air conditioning unit. Maybe, this was added earlier in the year, but I just seen it. :? The Great America Raceway now has some Ghosts during the ride. I doubt that they have all the decorations, but there's enough. Brownish cobwebs are everywhere the park.

Southwest Territory seems to no longer play whatever music it had before (70's or 60's). I heard an 80's song in Yankee Harbor, but then I had a 90's song. I'm confused. Does anybody know more (Screamscape guy )? Chubasco seeems to have gotten the cardboard (or whatever that is) in place now for Terror Twister. They put up torches in front of the Demon, and have put the

The Necropolis sign is up. Someone was taking things out of the arcade because it looked like the door was open. Maybe, they always have that door open though. There is a tow truck in back of the Orbit. Why do they have a tow truck? Do cars break down that much?

Starting Saturday October 7, no re-entry is alloweds after 7 on Saturdays and Sundays and no re-entry after 9 on Fridays because of expected high attendance.

Thats a maintenence road behind the ride, a maintenence guy parked his truck there and left it.

Giant Drop always looks like that when its closed. Nothing new to see if youve stayed in the park perimeter 1 hr after close.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Eagle will not be running backwards, that Blue train was used a little while ago for something completely maintenence related and im surprised its still sitting on the storage track cause its not going to be run (or at least on the red side, weather Blue side will re-open or not I have no idea).

Giant Drop from what i've heard is waiting on parts and should be open for FF but not as Hellevator because of reduced capacity.

For the People who are wondering why Blue is closed it is because they are retracing the Blue Side. The drop is being retracted all the up to the hill. If you look at it wile riding the Red Side you will see the entire track is missing. So don't expect blue to be opening anytime soon, mostly likely closed for the rest of the season.
