Im a bit surprised that MF got #2 again. I guess it will be close between MF and S:ROS for a while. Im happy that RB moved up a few spots. Maybe it will be in the top 10 next year.

A few general comments/observations, all opinion based of course :) ---

I am very happy to see SFoG Goliath at #9. That is definitely an awesome coaster, though I would rank it somewhere in the top 5, not 10.

Shivering Timbers and Phoenx #'s 5 and 6, respectively? Sorry, but at least the way they were running for me last year and this year, I would not put them in the top 10, perhaps not even top 15/20.

Raven, though ranked #7, is running like a top 1, 2, 3, coaster this year.

Lightning Racer at #10 is way too high IMHO.

Glad to see Avalanche @ Timber Falls coming in at #11. That's a very fun little coaster that packs a nice punch.

El Toro coming in at #13 is interesting. It's most likely due to its late opening, but I wonder if in part it's not ranked higher is because it resides in a park that many folks (including myself) don't like.

Kentucky Rumbler coming in at #20 is a bit disappointing to me. I had hoped it would be a top 15/10 ride, but #20 is respectable. :)

The Dania Beach Hurricane coming in at #45 is criminal. That coaster, at least when I rode it a few years back, deserved to be in a top 10, or probably even top 5 ranking. But #45? I think more voters need to get out to ride this thing. It's just awesome.

Regarding Holiday World, I can see why they're voted cleanest, but I really don't think that park is the friendliest park anymore. Not by a long shot. I also have to wonder how they won the award for best new water park ride. Their new water park ride, Bahari River, was supposed to be an action rapids ride, but because of budget cuts is just another boring lazy river w/ little to no themeing. How it beat out Noah's Ark's new water ride by twice the vote is beyond comprehension.

Glad to see that BGE won again for best landscaping. That park is beautiful.

I'm not sure how Knoebels ranks as #4 for the #4 best Halloween event, when they're only open one weekend in October for Phoenix Phall Phunfest (and other then costumes, there isn't anything Halloween(y) about that one weekend).

Those are some random comments that came to me when I went through this list. What are your thoughts?

I was suprised to see Millennium Force in 2nd. 2nd not bad at all but it's a bit of a suprised since it's been #1 for a few years. Magnum XL-200 stayed the same. What's with Top Thrill Dragster moving down 2 spaces? Wasn't it at #8 last year? I totally agree with Epcot having the best nighttime show.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

I'm suprised the best wooden coaster in the world didn't even make the top 10. Don't hate the coaster people, hate the park.

Okay here are my random comments and keep in mind, this is my first year looking at these...

Well, for one, i thought it was really cool that Kiddieland was nominated for the best Children's Park, i was surprised to see that in there. I also went crazy when Dudley Do-Rights won for best water ride, it seriosly is the best water ride ever! I also like their choices for best amusement and water parks, i think those go without saying. I also agree 100 percent with Kings Island winning the best kid's section award again.

Now, on to the stuff i couldn't understand. I just got back from Holiday World and i didn't find their staff any friendlier than any other park. I think any of the Universal Parks had the friendliest staff, easily. The other thing i think they screwed up with was the Nighttime shows. Fantasmic and the show at Cedar Point were EASILY better than Illuminations so i'm a little confused there. Also, since i'm the master of theming, i would definitely put Revenge of the Mummy and Tower of Terror well above Dueling Dragons so i don't know what that was all about.

In terms of the coaster countdowns, I personally was not a big fan of either Millennium Force nor Magnum XL-200 so i don't think their worthy of their position, however Raging Bull and Raptor definitely deserve to be much higher up on the chart. On the wooden coaster side, i am really glad to see Raven and Lightning Racers in the top 10, both of those blew me away and i'm glad to see Thunderhead staying at number one. However, Legend should not be in the top 10, the Boss should in no way be only one number below Viper, and whoever let Son of Beast in the top 50 at all was a moron.

The other thing is, did anyone else notice that Tatsu wasn't even nominated for best new ride and was in the 40s on the countdown. Has anyone ever ridden it and can tell us why it isn't livin up to the hype?

Overall, it was very much what i expected and although i disagree with a couple of those, i think they were right on the money for the most part.

Wow, I almost dissagree with everything on these lists.

Top 10 Steel Coasters
Magnum and TTD definatly should not be in those places. Magnum shouldn't even be in the top 10. And TTD shouldn't even be in it either, and KK should be like number 5. TTD is worse than KK. I know it's only 36 feet taller and only 8 mph faster, but it's still better. It's not slower or shorter, so it must be a little better. And it also has an extra hill. But it does have shoulder restraints, but that barely makes a difference since they are so small. But this isn't a topic about TTD vs. KK. So I'll shut up about that.

Top 10 Wood Coasters
I don't know much about wooden coasters but I would definatly say that El Toro should be in the top 10.

Best Park
I can't believe this part. Not one 6 Flags park got on the top 10 list.
I totally dissagree with all of these being in the top 10.

Pleasure Beach Blackpool
Knoebels Amusement Resort
Kennywood
Europa Park
Holiday World

Best Waterpark
I have no idea about any of these parks but I'm happy about Noah's Ark making the top 5. Yeah, I only live an hour from that park. :D

Friendliest Park Staff
This is just all oppinion. And sure, no 6 Flags parks again.

Cleanest Park
More opinions, and again, no 6 Flags parks.

Best New Ride of 2006
This is just stupid. I guess I can agree with The Voyage.
Here is my list on how I think it should go. Kuntucky Rumbler definatly doesn't deserve to be in the top 5.

Tatsu @ SFMM
Goliath @ SFOG
El Toro @ SFGAD
Voyage @ Holiday World
Black Mamba @ Phantasialand

I just totally disagree with a lot of this stuff. It's all just opinions. I just can't believe these things though.

It's pretty cool though that GG coasters won best new ride 2 years in a row now. Did anybody else notice that?

Oh and where are you guys getting the full top steel and wood lists. I can't find them. lol. Could somebody post a link please? :D

I like The List. Happy to see that Raging Bull is number 11th Best Steel Coaster. :-)

Superman Ultimate Flight was tied at 49th Best Steel Coaster with Air at Alton Towers

and Viper has it's spot at 32nd Best Wooden Coaster.

and by the way, the amazing coaster that is X is number 20.

Its difficult for these types of polls to work because unlike the academy awards where anybody can go watch a movie or tv show not everyone can travel to Europe and ride all the roller coasters there. So truely there is no clear way to judge what can be the best.
Top 5 wood-5-Goliath 4-Ravine Flyer II 3-Phoenix 2-Voyage 1-El Toro

Heyyyo. TTD > KK. Theres a ton of reviews out there that show it.
And Magnum should DEFINATLEY be in that Top 10. That is an AMAZING coaster.

Whoa whoa whoa. Voyage is themed WAY more than Tatsu.
El Toro's spot is going to be a big debate with voyage so I wont even go there. Goliath should be 4th.

Of course you do. All of your opinions have been biased towards Six Flags. I'm not just coming down on you because I agree with the list, it's because Six Flags isn't the best of the best all the time.

I'm pretty sure almost every response to the list you made was biased towards SF.

Realize there are other parks than Six Flags Parks...

All this is, is just some s of those parks lighting up all the nominees for that park. They arent going to vote for any Six Flags park to EVER win a servide award because Six Flags has a "bad" reputation. Also, Cedar Point is one of the most overrated parks in the world, there is no way that MF is a top 10 coaster nor TTD. Both of those rides are just speed with boring layouts and no exciting elements. Then into the waterpark world, Noah's Ark does not deserve to be on that list either, all of the slides are boring and the park is built on asphalt. It is way to biased to ever have this event because Cedar Point will always continue to win best park as long as the CP fanboys live, they are too great in numbers, and that park doesnt deserve to be the best park in the world.

Well if Cedar Point isn't the best in the world, what is? I would say SFMM but I know everybody here would disagree with me, for some wierd reason.

Noah's Ark seems pretty good to me. I like it, but it's the only major water park I've been to.

Why does SF have a bad reputation. I've only been to Great America, but it's great. I don't see anything bad about it. Is it just because they are in debt?

Alot of things have to do with SF not being a number one. Don't get me wrong on this, I love Six Flags Magic Mountain, but there's alot of things wrong with it. It's dirty, it has a lack of falt rides, the lines are long, the operators are slow, they have lackluster theming, the staff has an "Eh...." attitude.

Everything that's wrong with it can and SHOULD be fixed. Until then, it wont be seen on there for a while.

The reason why these Six Flags parks aren't on there is because people vote on more than just the roller coaster selection. If you've ever been to some of these smaller parks, you'd realize that roller coasters don't make an amusement park. Magic Mountain is not on there because of the reasons that Director Guy made and i have only heard the same things about Great Adventure. Face it, with rides getting shut down for budget cuts, prices on the same level as a universal or disney theme park, and in some cases, a lack of flat rides, most six flags parks will remain off this countdown. As for Cedar Point being number one, i would completely agree with it. People don't just like Cedar Point because it has tons of coasters. People like Cedar Point because everything there is respectable. The coasters are long, they are fun, but yet their flat rides are also just as worthy as their coasters. They have a reasonable admission price, very friendly staff, a great kids section, and the park offers great shows and the scenery and landscaping, it's all done flawlessly. The only other top park on there that i've been to is Holiday World and, yeah they only have four coasters, but they make up for it in great scenery, great family attractions, and that undeniable small park feel. Sometimes, it's better to look at things in the broader light, it is by doing this that some of these awards will begin to make sense.

Well Cp is definately my favorite park, as for Sfmm another reason why it isn't up in the ranking is because well i'll give you that they have great coasters, but they don't have good maitenence, when I went half of their rides had one train running.
