SFSTL TR

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby skaterboarder254 on August 2nd, 2006, 7:09 pm
well i posted my Silver Dollar City TR earlier and forgot to put a SFSTL TR, but now im doing that. This was a great day because i got on almost every single open ride other than the water rides and kiddie rides. so in no particular order (because i can't remember) here is an overview of the rides.

river king mine train: Just the basic mine ride but still fun. lots of turns and 3 chain lifts as well as a pretty fun drop in a tunnel near the end.

Rush Street flyer: like trailblazer at great america but goes much faster, therefore make it much more fun.

Superman: Tower of Power: 230 foot tall drop tower like giant drop, but the extra 30 feet it has over giant drop is like a world of difference. very fun.

Screamin' Eagle: nice woodie that's pretty long. and long is good. however, it was pretty rough and didn't have as much air as i hoped.

we were planning on heading to ninja around this time but apparently it's been closed all summer so we missed that. so then we went to The Joker INC. this is just a swinging ship ride but had some pretty sweet joker scenery and seemed to go higher than most others i've been on. so it was fun.

BTR: i would probably skip talking about this one at all if it weren't for that fact that it was a mirror image of our batman as well as all other BTRs. Meaning that the first drop is to the right instead of left. People say this makes it more intense or something but honestly riding it, i didn't notice the difference. One thing i will say is has a VERY long queue line which takes like 5 minutes to walk through even if it's a walkon (which actually happened believe it or not).

Colossus: Giant ferris wheel. umm...if you've never been on one of these you should probably get out and see the world sometime. so the basic experience you get on this is one like rotating in a vertical circle.

Riverview Racer: swings ride but, extremely boring even compared to the already rather boring "whirlgig". it didn't go up and down or w/e like whirligig. it just sat there and spun around. i was like what is going on do something else. but it never did.

Xcalibur: I wish i knew how to describe this or at least what type of ride it is...but it spins you around and upside down a lot and stuff. idk it's pretty popular so i'm sure most of you have heard about it so i don't need to explain. but if you haven't been on it, it is very fun.

The Boss: The roughest ride i have ever ridden. i have no idea why some people like it. Virtually no air time...extremely painful turns...i came off it with a sick stomach and a headache. so yeah. don't ride.

scooby doo ghostblaster: dark ride where you shoot targets and stuff. you sit in a little boat and try to get a high score. pretty fun.

Moon Antique Cars: car ride like great america raceway but its got a neat little bridge setup. pretty fun but not very long.

Shazam!: just your basic scrambler. if you actually want a longer explanation because you don't get it PM me.

highland fling: same type of deal as orbit but somehow i feel more secure riding orbit than this. no idea why.

speed o' drome: go karts that are sorta beneath the boss. i sucked at that. not much else to say there.

alright i may have forgotten a flat or two but i'm sure you get the idea. so the weather was good, also a very clean park. great overall experience. one thing i will say though is we saw a lot of people kicked out of lines for innapropriate behavior. so i guess you could say it doesn't fulfill shapiro's "family friendlyness" thing as much as great america. and just incase you didn't already know this and are confused as to why it wasn't mentioned mr. freeze has been closed for quite some time now so there's that for you.[/b]

I agree with you, The Boss is probably the worst roller coaster i've ever been on! Glad you had a great time, sounds like a nice past couple of days for you.

I disagree, The Boss is an excellent ride. It is rough, but it isn't that bad compared to others I have been on. That ride was just awesome, and I did ride it this year, so I know how rough it is.

On a wooden coaster, yes the weather can affect the wood. It can give you two different rides on two different days!!!!

^ Yep. Try riding AE Red in 110 degree weather.

The Boss was an excellent ride! There are a few rough spots, but nothing too hideous, I think that the more you ride it the more it grows on you.

I know you that you say that all ferris wheels are the same, but really they are not. There a couple out there, that are very unique. The cars actually move. The one I went on was at Disney's California Adventure, and it was quite fun. It's called the Sun Wheel. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hvIamOAXZt8& ... un%20Wheel These are the swinging cars in which I'm talking about.

For the Riverview Racer, as a design Chance made these rides to tilt 20 degrees. With this in place, it is a whole lot more fun than any swing ride out there. You basically feel like you are going to fall out.

It's like Deja Vu , but more scarier (I guess). However, being Six Flags, they often go the softy approach with flats. It was tilting before, but now it's not. There's also the fact that sometimes the metal bar that does this is broke, and it costs a lot of money to replace it.

The Rush Street Flyer is better because it's a different than Trailblazer. The Rush is made by Chance (Falling Star), and Trailblazer is made by Zamperla (Joker). I agree that the Rush Street Flyer is way better. That park doesn't sound like it's doing to good. With one great coaster down, I wonder why?

i agree with you on the boss. we rode it twice, and i hated it both times. my neck and back hurt really bad after them. It was at the bottom of my list for this park.

Hehe, I've been there five times and I still haven't tried that ride. I'll be sure to next time.

Ninja has been in operation each time I have been at the park, including trips in June and July.

Really strange to hear that its down. Did anyone offer a reason as to why it was down?

At first I thought the Boss was really rough, but after riding coasters such as Wildcat and Villain its not NEARLY as rough compared to them.
