That's right. With Santas Village's future still uncertain at this point, we are now hit with another possible sad story. Kiddieland in Melrose Park may close by 2010.
The part that angers me is that it isn't because of financial problems. In fact, this park is still profitable because it's geared toward small children at a cheaper price then SFGAm.
The family that owns the land and manages the park are at odds and are involved in a lawsuit with eachother. If they can't get their heads out of their asses and realize what they have is historical and a gem, they need to sell the land and the park to someone who will continue to operate it as an amusement park. Click below for the story.
I was sort of suprised KL opened this year, after a huge offer was made for the land the park sits on, I dont think it will make it to 2010, everyone should go ASAP.

This is truely sad. The Little Dipper is the coolest little coaster out there.
Hopefully someone can step up and save this park. I don't think I could stomach two of my childhood parks get razed. While I think that Great America is alittle better value, especially when the water park is open, Kiddieland, and that little train that I can barely fit into, does offer some neat little rides.
I wonder how much it would cost to buy Kiddieland.
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
I go every year, I sure hope it doesn't go for a long, long time! Their octopus ride is insane, their frog hopper gets my stomach every time (which is a rare thing for me), and the Little Dipper is a GREAT coaster!! That right there is three rides worth keeping the park for. I'm speechless
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
i love kiddieland get out the picket signs and protest against this nonsense

As of right now, Santa's Village is safe even though there is debt. A new person bought the property, and it is probably going to open in June of this year. So, that's good news. We have so much pain over here.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Even worse, guess where those KL guest are going to start going to? Six Flags. I always wanted at first two really big theme parks in the chicago land area to at least split the crowds.
Although I never like saying anything bad about theme parks (or even carnivals), I really really really have a low opinion of Satan's Village. I seriously hope they make things better there....or close.
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.
