Man injured on Peter Pan ride at Disney
A 70-year-old man was injured Tuesday evening when he was pinned under a ride at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, authorities said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was getting on Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasyland with his wife and granddaughter about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the man fell off a conveyor belt that carries the guests alongside small pirate ships so they can board the ride. He apparently fell into the path of the next vehicle on the conveyor belt and was pinned, authorities said.
A Disney spokeswoman said a worker immediately stopped the ride.
The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center by helicopter. His injuries were initially considered to be life threatening. Later, doctors determined he wasn't critically injured.
The Sheriff's Office began investigating the incident but backed off when it was determined the man's injuries were not life threatening.
A Disney spokeswoman said the Peter Pan ride was shut down for the remainder of the evening Tuesday.
"There is no indication of a ride malfunction**,** and we anticipate the ride will be open [today]," Lissette Campos, a Disney spokeswoman, said.
Walt Disney World spokesman Bill Warren said the incident will be reported to the Florida Department of Agriculture Bureau of Fair Rides Inspection. It is unclear if whether the state will investigate.
All of Fantasyland was evacuated as well as the rides, shops, and restaurants in the area.
Throughout the day Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, and Buzz Lightyear were closed for various reasons..not a good day for WDW.

to get an ambulance. Peter Pan doesnt have a service road behind it so the only way an ambulance could get to the ride was thru the midways. Other reasons are to try getting the least amount of people to see what was happening.

I know this isn't funny, but I was laughing while reading this. How screwed up can things really get from someone falling on a conveyor belt?

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying that I never thought it could be so difficult to walk from a conveyor belt to a ride vehicle that are both moving at the same speed.
oh, well technically they arent the same speed, but they are pretty close..Idk why but I always almost fall when I step off a moving walkway into the cars. It feels awkward.

Well its a huge park with alot of rides so somethings going to happen on at least one of them now and again.

Stuff like this happens a lot at various parks. The only difference is that he was pinned to the floor.
The only reason this makes it to the news is because it's Disney.

also did you hear about the one that the guy was on the train going through the mountain and was hit by fall debris this happen last year poor parts or poor maintatince or saving a dollar
