So yeah back around 2003-2004 I planned out a huge trip which I never got around to. Now with me having been to the east coast several times and getting that out of the way, and the extremely weak dollar scratching Europe off my schedule for the forseeable future, and reading multiple USA TR's on Dutch and German Forums from 30+ day trips, I'm starting to look at my mega trip again. What I came up with during the original planning, roughly in order is...
Adventureland SFEG (No longer Six Flags) Lakeside Lagoon Park Silverwood Calaway Park, Calgary Galaxyland Vancouver Playland Fun Forrest(Space Needle) (Gone) (SF)Enchanted Village(no longer six flags) Puyallup Fair(Date Dependant) Oaks Park Thrill-ville (gone) Enchanted Forrest(gone) SFMW PGA SCBB Bonfante Gardens (now Gilroy Gardens) SFMM Pacific Park KBF Scandia Pharaohs Lost Kingdom(gone) Castle Park Disneyland DCA Legoland Belmont Park Seaworld SanDiego Castles N' Coasters Enchanced Island Phoenix Family Funland (farmington NM) Cliff's Wonderland Joyland (Lubbock, TX) Frontier City Sandy Lake Park SFOT SFFT Seaworld Texas SFAW -gone New Orleans City Park Carousel Gardens -gone SFNO-gone Visionland Libertyland- gone Nashville Valley- gone Beech Bend SFKK - lets not mince words or thoughts, gone
So I'm left with a lot of parks on my itinerary that no longer exist. With all those parks that are no longer there, I can either shorten the trip, or extend it in the same time period which was 25 days, now about 6 days worth of stuff is gone. So would it be wrong to have Edmonton Mall, SFMM, SFOG, and Carowinds all on the same trip? Or better to cut the losses and from Texas head home by way of, Magic Springs, SDC and SFStL? Only thing I would miss that I've never done is Rampage.
I'm leaning towards 2011 to give people time to save up and time to plan, or even just find people who can do such a trip, my usual cast of characters might frown on a 3 week trip now the same as they did 7 years ago. Also be able to hit all the new SF anniversary attractions.
Any thoughts, ideas?
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
Personally I would separate the north and south parks. This is alone was a lot for 9 days.
Also hotels for the entire trip were always expensive (over $90 and ever $120) in that region. You could probably add on the NoCal parks but I wouldn't do much more...but it all depends on how much you want to spend and how much time you have.
