not opening day.....Who is going to get to the parking lot at 6am? Thats why we do it! Park...walk and get something to eat...walk back...sleep....hangout till they let us in the parking lot. Which is about 9am.
That's the way to do it. But, make sure you leave someone at your car, otherwise, it may get towed!
I forget what year it was (3 years ago now, I think), but there was this one guy who had a beat-up brown looking car. It was not on opening day, but it was sometime between 6 and 7 AM outside of the Grand Ave gate. He left his car, and walked to get breakfast at Burger King. Due to the "look" of the car, the Gurnee Police thought it was just left there. 4 minutes later, the tow truck showed up, just as the owner was coming back from Burger King. Unfortunally, it was to late, and they towed his car!
I've also had the Gurnee PD ask me why I'm sitting there at such an early hour. Once was on July 4, 1999 outside the Washington Street gate around 5 AM. My logic was that it was 4th of July, RB was new, and I wanted to get to the park early to get a good parking space. I figured more people would be there. The cop asked what I was doing, and I said I was waiting for the park to open. I gave him my DL, everything checked out, so he left. The same happened another year at Grand Ave (forget the time).
In any case, I think the Gurnee PD must think we are all a bunch of fools to get to the park so early! However, it does help to get a close parking spot, and then allow you time to get some breakfast at either BK or McDonnalds.
And, to answer the question of the thread, I will be going to opening day this year. Arriving at 6 AM to be the first car at Grand Ave.........might have to get there at 5:30 now!
So the plan is to get a car and go with my brother again like last year....just this year, we won't be second and third in line for Viper, we'll be FIRST!
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
She is in her 60's When I went to Disney World in 2002, here was an old man next to me on Alien Encounter, and he started having a seizure or something because they had to get workers there get him out of it yet they kept the ride going while he was exiting.

Yeah one person will stay and sleep while everyone else gets food. Then we take turns walking to go to the bathroom and stuff.
And now we have to get there at 5:25 now....oh well
Be ready for plans to change! Rides could be closed, and other things can happen. I had my whole day planned out for the first time I went to Cedar Point, and I didn't even remotely follow what I had planned.
Well I am officially getting a season pass. I'll definetly be there opening day. I'll be wearing black pants, white and black shoes, and this shirt: http://www.roosterteethstore.com/rt0075.html
Btw, call me Chris. Someone calling me Rctfan would be weird(which btw, I need to get that changed to Tech Artist).
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/
Tomorrow I'm requesting to be off work Opening Day and I'm getting my pass this week probably. If everything goes my way then I'm about 90% sure I'll be there rain or shine. I'm only about 10 mins from the park.
No clue what my plan for the day will be besides getting there very early (now that I have a car) and running to Dark Knight right after chain drop, if they open it then.
If someone sees me opening day just yell at me, I'll be all over the park throughout the day. I'll probably be wearing some kind of black zip-up hoodie, jeans, and blue/black Etnies.
