Suggestion Box: Making SFGAmWorld.com better

For any questions, comments, problems or suggestions about anything on this website.
Postby Galvan on November 14th, 2010, 1:45 am
Hey everyone,

I am writing here to ask your opinion on how to improve our site. We are easily the #1 SFGAm fan site out there, and we thank you for your support and continuing to visit our site to make it what it has been for nearly a decade now!

But, we need your help.

That is why I am asking you all to PM me your suggestions to help make this site even better. In 2010 we've started The "Galvan Investigates" series, The Roller Coaster Tournament of Champions, as well as other site improvements. So send me your PM on suggestions or comments on how to make the site better, I will pass along some of the best suggestions to the Webmasters of the site to see what we can do.

Thank you!

To the people requesting DejaVu be removed from the banner: it is our tribute to the ride that gave us so many great memories, so no we are not taking it off the banner :)

I Wouldn't mind if the site took some hints from this site:

I'm sorry I know I'm supposed to PM but I cannot on mobile, & before I forget I'd like to say...

gadv.com is the best lookin fan site in my opinion. I really like how nice it looks & have for a while wished our site looked that way. Though I'm pretty set with how this looks & I know where everything is, a face lift wouldn't be bad though. But PLEASE never get rid of that beautiful silhouette skyline banner :)

A "Park History" forum like the ones seen on the Great Adventure fan site

A chat room, but there would be specific times when it would be easier for people to meet in there. For instance, you might say Tuesday and Sunday night at 7 pm is when you guys should chat in there, so you aren't just talking to 2 people in there. The chat room could be opened up all time, but give people a suggestion as to when a lot of people might show up for it.

A chat room would be cool, how hard is it to make one?

There was a chat room here for years, the most I ever saw in it was 2 or 3 people, but 99 times out of 100 there would be 0 or 1.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder
Favorite Steel: Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping
Parks visited: 222, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 822, Wood: 178, Total: 1000

Unless it was open at only certain times that was announced before hand so then it would maximize the people using it.

I agree with Cole. Also I want more "Galvan Investigates"! Chat room, eh....Used to have one and it flopped...Annual Awards does sound intriguing . Wasn't there at one time a Member Spotlight type of deal? That'd make a nice feature again. Out of all of these ideas though, I like the thumbs up and thumbs down idea the most.
Have a take and don't suck, it's the Jim Rome Show!

Meh...this isn't facebook or youtube. One of the few sites I like because its not conforming to the rest of the popular sites. Nay for any thumbs on this site. People are gonna start begging for thumbs up and competing for the best comment. Isn't a forum to post opinions not compete against everyone?? Ive noticed that on youtube and facebook a major part of comments are basically to try and get the highest rating based on how they are worded. egh.

But do please bring back the live chat room. I really like my idea of having scheduled chat times for specific topics. Something along the lines of, "Join us on wednesday at 9pm CDT. We will be discussing how summer 2011 went for SFGAM or we will be discussing our memories with Iron Wolf now that its departing." IDK I like that idea or if not at least bring back the live chat room.

I really think we need an offical "How will crowds be on such and such date" topic. And make it like a Sticky Thread so it won't ever disasppear from view. There is so much people recently that have said "How will crowds be" and left. At least do a Trip Report. Oh well it's not as bad as CP forums. People always asking about the Hotel ERT thing and where they should stay and crowds.

Just a suggestion

We should make a calendar of crowd predictions throughout the year in that topic. I see that kind of thing for Cedar Point and Disney

I like that idea however people are still going to make topic for it. I mean i understand. Most people that do this are probably only going to SFGAm once a year and some haven't been there in a while. Crowds make or break your day

I definitely like the new site layout now!! Featured areas, features galleries and columns. Ride facts and statuses. Wow. Thumbs up for the new layout. As long as the site doesn't start copying youtube and facebook with the retarded thumbs up thumbs down choices for every comment, then I'll be good. That will honestly kill the site for me...seriously. :x But yeah awesome new layout!! :D 8)

The new site isn't quite finished yet, there are still some things that need to be fixed and finished. But overall it's completely rebuilt, which will allow us to keep it much more up to date.

If anyone has any ideas for the site, or has found a error on the new site that's up now. Please let me know here.
