Demon Harnesses

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

A couple days ago I was looking at pictures for Turn of The Century and when Demon first came out. I noticed in the pictures that it appeared to have black OTSR (similair to the ones at Corkscrew at CP) but now they have the orange ones. If they were different restraints, does anybody know when they changed them?

The trains were changed to the standard Arrow trains thruought the late 80s and early-mid 90s. The original trains for Demon had the black restraints, flames on the sides of the cars, side vents (like a Corvette) and that 3D logo on the lead car. These newer ones are just regular Arrow trains.

Actually the train styles have never really changed. Six Flags manufactures their own arrow restraints, that can be found on most Six Flags Arrow/Vekoma trains.

Talk to FParker about this. Some story about somebody jumping into a train after the harness was already down and not being able to tell the difference ebcause of the metal bars so now they are all bright orange so there is no mistake whether or not somebody has the harness on.

yeah, SFGAdv lightning loops, after the train was checked someone ran onto the train and sat down on top of the closed restraint and was tossed to their earned death. So after that (besides putting airgates on Lightning Loops), all Arrow coasters of that time that SF owned had their otsr's painted bright orange and got the huge grab loops so even braindead employees could spot someone on top of rather than under the OTSR. (and also Paramount put that strip of reflective yellow tape at the bottom of all their coaster OTSR's if anyone ever noticed that)
