I really miss shockwave and I know alot of you probably do too. We should have every person who views this forum to send a letter to Great America requesting Shockwave to be rebuilt in a new location without tearing down any coasters. They can rename it repaint it I DON'T CARE. Please help me on this greatly incredable task.(Please dont lock or delete this forum)
It won't happen, hopefully they get to rebuild Shockwave at another park. No amount of enthusiasts would make the park change thier mind, afterall we don't even account for 1% of the parks yearly attendence. The park isn't out to please enthusiasts, its out to please the majority of the guests that come to the park. Most guests and most enthusiasts used to bad mouth Shockwave all the time, I rarely heard anything good about the ride. I myself used to love the ride, but most enthusiasts used to always say "Tear it down". But now that its gone, the people who were saying that want it to be put back up.Right now, people are in that "Tear it down" stage with Deja Vu. But I guarantee you, everyone who has said that and has rode it would change there mind after it was gone and all they had was a small empty plot of land.Public outcry wasn't the only reason Whizzer came down, and theres a reason why Shockwave was shut down a few weeks before they made the announcement that it would come down instead. Public outcry really didn't play that much of a factor when they changed there minds to take down Shockwave, although im sure it played a little bit. There were other factors involved.Fact is Public outcry will NOT bring back Shockwave, no matter how hard you try. I hope that one day Shockwave can live on at another park, so that I may have a chance to get my final ride on it. I would much rather have a new shiny floorless coaster like Batman: Knight Flight(Very awesome ride) or a new 4D coaster instead of a old beatup Arrow.(BTW, this is a topic not a forum. And since you asked nicely I won't lock or delete this. Afterall, im not the evil moderator...Thats T_Biggs.)
Thats right Dave. T_Biggs is the red-headed stepchild of moderating. Even if Shockwave is never to operate at another park again, all you have to do is travel to SFMM or SFGADv and you will experience the same ride. Most guests didnt like Shockwave. It was the only coaster in the park that had near walk-ons all day even during somewhat crowded days. I knew this coasters days were numbered but I didnt think it would come out this quick.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
The longest I ever saw the line was through the first 4 rows of the que house. That was only about a 40 minutes wait. I loved the ride personally and am sad to see it go. I wish that public outcry would work, but it won't .
think what would you rather do wait inbline for superman 1hr or go on shockwave 5 or 6 times? i pick shockwave i can get more rides on it thats why its the best coasterhardly no line.

Thank you. But I'm not a red head. I have the blondest hair you've ever seen (well, probably not, but probably close.)But anyways. Shockwave lives on still. Go to Six Flags over Texas. It looks really cool there. Or Kings Dominion or Drayton Manor, if you want to stand on it. Oh wait, those are different. Well, go to Great Adventure and ride the big red one. Same sequence of inversions and turns, just 5 feet taller and the 2nd and 3rd loop exit right of the entrance, rather than left of the loop's entrance. You won't know the difference! Well, you might. There is even less greenery in the middle of the ride.
Alot of people do miss this ride alot, in my opinion it was a really important land mark for SFGAM and Illinois. But 6 flags doesn't care about that. No matter how hard you try it is very unikely this ride will return. I'm not saying it's impossible,Stranger things have happend, but don't count on it. Edit: Don't even bother writing or calling them. I already have, and they basicly tell you one hing. Tuff Luck.
Correction. Many people think they miss it a lot. There are a few, such as Dave, who do want to ride it again because they liked it. However, most of these people are ones who said "tear it down!" even years before it was gone. Now they whine about it. I think we should give this phenomenon a name. Lets call it the "Drachen Fire Phenomenon," or DFP. It's the same thing with that ride. Nobody liked it but a select few. Complaints were very common about it, it had no line. It closes, people whine and cry about it. It's torn down, people whine and cry about it.Too bad people with the DFP will never know they have the DFP, because if they did, then they wouldn't have the DFP.
I was never one to complain about this ride, hell I rode it once 36 times in a row, but T_Biggs is absolutely right! I know so many people who whined about this ride non-stop. All they did was complain about it and say that it should be torn down, and the when it did, they complain even more! Some people are just never satisfied.
