I recently heard that SfGAM has more land across the street. Does any1 know if they will put anything their? I was wondering how big it is? If it is not big they could use that as a parking lot and tear up the parking lot they have now and put up more stuff. Tell me what you think
They tried to get the land but the Gurnee city board shot it down. They planed on building a Water park/Resort their, though it seems it will never be .
Umm...they actually own that land and got approval from Gurnee to build the Waterpark. They must have decided to not build the waterpark, because they only had like 3 years to start construction.
i, personally would rather see them expand the regular park instead of adding a waterpark just because a waterpark wouldnt be viable all season long...it gets cold quick, and often here in the chicagoland area.
they should just expand , sfkk did , they bought land across street and now they havelike 5 coasters on that side, great america should do the same so they wouldnt need to get rid of attractions.Mod Note: Please use correct grammar. Its not just a hotel resort they were considering rich12-16.They also had plans for a waterpark which in my opinion they need more than anything. Look at all the other "major player" parks that have a waterpark. CP, SFMM, SFGADv, etc.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
i dotn think they should have a waterpark because there is all ready waterparks nearby......they have wisconson dells....and a few others...but im not sure waht they're called

coasterswimgurl12, thats exactly why they should build one. Put pressure on the Dells. The Dells is probably 100 miles away, but that is well within range of being competion. That way, Noah's Ark would have to build new stuff more often (like they don't already,) or lose a lot of their Chicago clientel to the much closer Great America water park. Plus, if it didn't draw many more people to the park, it would draw people out of the amusment park, and to the water park, making lines shorter for us.
i guess if they wanted to do something unique....they could turn that stage in the wilderness theater back into a pool and add waterslides....but that'll never happen...lol

i think it would be a great idea for six flags to tear up the parking lot, move the parking lot to the other side of the street and put the entrance on the other side of the street too the parking lot would make us almost as big as magic mountain!
Some of you are talking about the street. The land is on the other side of the tollway. If you think its a street, you're dead wrong. No way, even if hell freezes over, could SFGAm build a transportation ride, like a monorail or something, above or below it. They won't put a crosswalk in, obviously, and it would cost a lot to run shuttle buses back and forth. Parking is $10 now, it would be $20+ if they ran shuttle buses. If the land Six Flags owns on the other side is ever developed, it would not be a part of SFGAm. It would be it's own separate thing. If it was a water park, it would have its own parking lot and gates.Basically, to have a major park expansion, parking lot would need to be removed. To make up for it, in the overflow lot they could just build a parking garage. I'm not sure, but I think thats what Islands of Adventure uses. Then, keep the entrance where it is, but build out around it, put in a monorail to get to the main entrance. That way, on your way in, you could see the new part of the park before even getting in the park. Plus, it would probably be a first, a park's entrance in the middle of the park. I tried doing that in RCT once, but the peeps turn around when they are on the entrance path and come across the park boundary. Otherwise it would have been one sweet park, all owned land except for like a 6x6 square in the middle.
If they did expand the park across the highway then they would have to build an underpass. They couldnt build an over pass because the supports for it would have to be on the highway. Even an underpass would be hard do build. Most likely they arent going to expand across the highway even though it would be cool if they did.
An underpass wouldn't work either. The state of Illinois or whoever is responsible for the tollway wouldn't let any private company build anything above or below their road. Anyways, why would an overpass need supports? There are plenty of types of bridges that could be used that have only a span over a specific area (which can be over a mile long, but that wouldnt be needed for an overpass of that size.)Just the fact that the land is on the other side of the tollway makes it near impossible to make it be the same park. Think of the tollway as the Berlin Wall for Six Flags. Only one way accross, Checkpoint Charlie (Grand Ave) and that isn't Six Flags property.
We could say that about almost everything we talk about on these boards... He was just asking if anyone had any idea if it might happen.BTW, I don't know if it will reopen. Someone else might.
