Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Sorry if this gets locked, but I couldn't find any threads consisting of Deja Vu. I remember reading about DV having stress fractures. What exactly are stress fractures?

For example if you put too much stress on your arm it will break, another word for a broken bone is a fracture. So basically Vekoma went cheap on the parts they are not as stong as they need to be and some may have broke or cracked. In my opinion Vekoma didn't know what they were geting into when the tried to do a 4 across, "V" shaped seating arrangment. They also didn't have the money to research them, becuase they are bankrupt.

Weren't there stress fractures just recently on WT at CP last year? I think they had to weld the thing over night or something. I don't remember the whole story, but I'm sure as long as there aren't too many fractures it's still relatively safe to ride, it's not just going to snap off all of a sudden with one fracture.

I found out this weekend that deja vu could only operate in a certain temperature. I thought that was pretty dumb and stupid of Vekoma to make it like that!
It's not how high or how fast you build the roller coaster it's how smooth you build it!

That weather thing is a lie. They said it cant operate in cold weather. The reason why they said that is because cable starts to fray when its cold because it hardens in the cold. DV did operate in the cold temperatures during Last Blast. . I was the one who said it has stress fractures. I asked more employees about it and they said its true. Im not beleiving it 100% but it is a big possibility.

The weather thing is NOT a lie, that coaster along with other coasters run slow in the cold. Deja Vu goes through the Boomerang slow in the summer anyhow, slow that down a little more and you get a valley. The main problem isn't with it valleying in the cobra roll, its catching the towers catch wagon in the cold. The catch wagon only goes down so low, and if the train doesn't make it up to that point because its traveling slow because of the cold then it will valley. During Last Blast, it seemed like they had the catch wagons catching as low as possible, because you would fall back a few feet before catching the catch wagon and it would cause a pretty big jerk.As far as this topic goes to avoid locking, feel free to talk about them in general and what exactly a stress fracture is..not as just another rumor floating around about why Deja Vu is closed. Theres no reason to speculate about Deja Vu anymore, the people who know whats going on won't tell and the people who don't know by now are just spreading rumors and will probably not find out whats going on.

Hey sixflagsrules. Don't count or give your hopes up about Deja Vu being open this weekend. It looked like no work was being done on it today. Also, you can add the photos/text if you go to Profile near the top of the page.

The loading time shouldnt have effected the ride itself...whatever floats your boat.

How long would it take once they get the trains on to test it enough and certify people to operate?
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name

Well, I estimate that it would have to take a few weeks or even maybe a month of testing. That is what they do for ALL new rollercoasters. While, Deja Vu isn't a NEW rollercoaster it hasn't been open for a while and it's has had a lot of problems, so they have to treat it like a new coaster. So don't be expecting Deja Vu to be open for quite a while.
2010 is going to be one to remember forever!!

There is a certain amount of times it has to be tested before it can get certified or the year. There are some ride ops that are still at the park that are certified for DV. One of them is Adan and hes an op at Superman fot the time being.
