Since your're new here, heres a couple tips. Try not to double post. If you have something to add before others post, just edit the original post. Also, there is a meeting and gathering forum for your second post.
Welcome to the boards!
For the most part, Fright Fest is a great Halloween event which has tons of decorations, tons of haunted music, monsters that walk around and try to scare you, 2 haunted houses, a haunted walk, plus tons of other stuff.
Giant Drop is called Hellevator, Chubasco is called Terror Twsiter, Rue Le Dodge is Rue Le Morgue, Roaring Rapids is called Blood River, plus many more. They add special effects and stuff to some of the rides. Plus American Eagle is lighted with red colors.
Heres a great website with a TON of fright fest photos. http://www.coasterchild.com Enter the site and go to photos then go to fright fest 2003 and all the october photo updates below it. Theres a couple hundred photos. BTW it isnt my site so i cant take any credit for it. This site has some pictures too. The haunted houses are the mauseleum of terror and The legend of sleepy hollow 3d. The front of the park looks the freakiest, but Necropolis is the main scarezone with the most characters. Some fright fest memories are the spiders on the eagles spiral, king kong on the sky trek tower, the trolls, capltain nasty (guy who will do anything in necropolis to gros you out. When I was by him for 30 minutes 3 people puked) and the chainsaw guy at the end of the haunted house that everyone crowds around to watch scare the crap out of people. Theres a pic of him on this site I think.
Chubasco is dark inside (because they boarded it up) with strobes on, and crazy music. Roaring Rapids water is red with skeletons and such occupying some rafts.
Fiddler's Fling is called Fiddler's Flung and last year they had a couple people on the back wall of the ride. For the train, they had a Scooby-Doo skit. They have talking skeletons all over the place. They call Iron Wolf, Iron Werewolf East River Crawler, Monster Mash and Southwest Territory, Southwest Scaritory.
Space Shuttle America or Stargate has a Halloween show with Elvira on an amusement park ride. The Bumper Cars are skeletons on the wall with the lights being black lights. They had the talking head in line for the bumper cars last year.
The picnic grove is turned into Necropolis which is the haunted city of the dead. They have some scenes in there with a Freak Show, Haunted House, and crazy goblins running around. They were addicted to fog machines last year. I would expect more of the same.
At the front of the park, they have dirt with tombstones (Yeah, the flowers are gone!) with torches that smell good to me, and I believe they also turned the water red. The song from Halloween (movie) is usually played quite frequently.
The antique cars have some funny or kiddish scenes, and I usually never skip that. For shows, they usually have a Hypnotist, and a Halloween show called Love At First Fright. If I'm wrong on anything, please correct me.
Yeah that stuff is addicting. I have an old map with an advertisement for fright fest with the whole pool filled with dirt. Did they used to fill it with dirt?
Ahh Fright Fest! Entering the park is the greatest thing. The Halloween music is blasted at you! You enter to the worlds largest graveyard, with a bung of puppet type characters. Stargate transforms into 'Superstition' where elvira takes you to her Haunted theme park to ride the new attraction "House of Superstition". the problem is, she's not as big about safety as a real park would be...
Then you are greeted by a ton of "Mars Attacks" cretures on your way into "GHOST-town square". Which has Dead Elvis (Or "Legends" this year") and the Greatest Six Flags Show Ever "Love at first fright". Then at night the zombies gather for the "Zombie Jamboree Parade".
In Southwest SCAREitory Marshall Killin' and the other towns folk haunt dead man's gulch. and the nearby Muerto Mine. Chubasco goes under a huge transformation, turing into a dark ride with that sandstrom song, and with smoke and lights, it's a blast!
County Scare and Yukon Territory are mostly kiddie zones. With Kings/Queens etc...
Necropolis is home to a ton of Zombies, and is the parks Haunted Trail. Mayor Slayer runs the show, with P.T. Scarum, and the towns resitdents. Don't miss seeing Mr. Nasty eat something creepy and the Haunted House "Mausoleum of Terror" Rated R for "Really scary" (Direct quote from a sign). Then the Living bushes all scream when you walk by them...
The haunted harbor bridge has a couple of puppets too. And be sure not to miss D.J. Bob's haloween party, or the Sleepy Hollow 3:D haunted house in the SCAREitory.
Over in Mardi GRas the Evil Clowns haunted around the Big Easy Baloons, and the Buffy Vamps take over orleans place. Be sure not ot miss the Manny B. Monster shows, or the Juggler's O' Death! Watch out for the werewolfs and the Sliding Werewolf Victims!
Wow, that sounded like one big advirtisment. I didn't mean it too, but there you go.
P.S.: Be sure not to miss: Dead End Drive, Rue Le Morgue, Iron Werewolf, Deja VooDoo, Demon's Original Themeing, the Looney Tunes Spookey Town, Monster Mash, Fiddler's Flung, and More!
Fright fest is the reason I buy a season pass to six flags. That is how much fun it is. When its too crowded to go on rides, like on saturdays, you can just wander around and chill with the monster guys. Good times.

What you don't understand you can make mean anything.
Nope, you definitely should not expect that. Last year on Columbus Day it wasn't crowded at all. Plus they weren't selling fastlane passes, so they must have known from past experiences. The longest line was probably 30 minutes.
This is only my second FF. Wish I would've known about it sooner.......
Anyway, my favorite part of FF is right when you walk in the park. Suddenly you're blasted with halloween music and people dressed up crazy are everywhere. And you can't forget the fountain-pond in front of the merri-go-round: blood red with smoke covering the surface, and surrounded by the world's only themed-graveyard.
How much longer can I last until Opening Day! ARRRRGH!
