I know that this topic has probably been discussed before, but after my experiance on Sunday, I thought that something more needed to be said about the dreaded Line Jumpers!
This past Sunday, my bestfriend and I spent 4 hours at the park. During this 4 hours, over 10 people line jumped. TWICE by the same people. The worst was in the SUF line. A kid just got off the ride, saw his friends in front of us, cut across the grass and got in the line. The person in back of him, tore up her ticket so that it would look like he had a ticket. They got to the staff person who was taking the tickets and he let the line jumper through. Once my friend and I got to the staff person, we told him about the line jumper and he did NOTHING about it.
Now I though that Line Jumping was strickly prohibited? Since when did the rules change to, it's ok to line jump? How many of you have had this problem? Honestly, I have seen more and more people line jump this year, and nothing is being done about it.
So, for those of us who are fed up, a few questions for you. #1 How many of you ever said something to the Line Jumper? #2 How many of you reported a line jumper to a SF Staff person #3 What do you think could be done to curve line jumping and finally, how many of you thought of writing the management?
I look forward to seeing your responses.

Funny story about that: I was in line for raging bull and these two kids were sitting on the railing in the switchback acting like they were gonna line jump. Then my mom said to them that they'd have to wait just like the rest of us. The kid pulled out some out of date raffle ticket and said something about he got permission to line jump, whatever. So they ended up able to get way ahead of us. So later when we got into the station and the train was loading us up, I saw those two boys standing in line it cracked me up!
You see I like the cubs and the white sox. If it came down to the world series I'd pick the cubs.
On the Demon two kids line jumped because their was hardly any line until you got the station partly because some people don't move faster when there's no line.
There's really nothing you can do about it. People will always line jump because they can get away with it and they believe it's worth the risk which isn't much at all. If I reported that, they would just run back through the line again. And even if people are thrown out, they probably will be able to get in.

I belive they should be dragged out into the parking lot and shot!! Well, maybe that's a little harsh. I don't know if much can really be done but a few more line watcher employees and maybe guys who actually DO SOMETHING when informed of a line jump would help. Still, I've always wondered how you can tell who is telling the truth. What's keeping me from telling on someone else who didn't actually line jump? Not that I ever would but the employees seem very one sided to the arguments I've seen. Anyhoo, thats my two cents...
Unless you pass out from lack of oxygen, the first drop isn't tall enough
I think the situation that Jamesb58 stated was an easy way to catch a line jumper. That employee should be fired for failing to do their job correctly. If it was a manager, the people with the ripped boarding pass would be out of line or out of the park.
Some line jumpers are really scary.(At least to others). One time on the Demon, this man was coming through the line and I told my friends to make a wall. So we did, and the guy came and told us to move. Everyone in line looked at us like, "Can't you see what your doing?" We said no, so he called for the op that was making everyone move into switchbacks and told him that we wouldn't let him go with his 'group'. I started laughing(how could someone be so stupid), told my story and that guy was out of there faster than you can say Demon.
Stand up to line jumpers! It's not like they're going to pull out a gun or knife on you because they wouldn't make it through the metal detectors. And everyone cheers when they get kicked out of line.
When ever someone tries to line jump past me, I block the whole queue, so no one can get past. I put my arms up to block it and stop them from passing, and they always just wait behind me, it works. If they ask me, I tell them to wait patiently like everyone else in line, and I will have you kicked out of the park if you pass me, I work here, and I can do it. It always works for me, I dont know why, but it does.

...what I do is wait till I see an employee, tell the employee, then they call security, then the line jumpers get it.
Works a lot better than trying to stop it yourself and risking getting mugged.

That's not to say they couldn't still try to kick the crap out of you...

Also, if you notice in the games, they have lighters that you can win. Why would the park let a lighter be a prize. I think that is just stupid, it can be used to burn people if they really wanted to.

It seems like every time I go to Great America and I decide to ride the Demon, someone wants to skip.
The first time happened last year at my very first trip to Great America. My girlfriend and I were in line and this family were ahead of us and two kids came from out of no where to try and skip us. At first it didn't bother us since we just gotten into the line. But when we made it towards the actual ride, two more kids from this same family decided to skip (in front of one of the workers who tried to pretend that he didn't see them). I confronted that family for doing so and I confronted the worker for not doing his job and told him that he needed to do his job or I will speak to his supervisor about this. He finally made them get at the very end of the line. Those kids gave me and my girlfriend a dirty look, but I didn't care one bit.
The second time this happened was back in May when my girlfriend and I decided to take another trip to Great America. This time, there were a lot of school kids there and they were just as even more determined to skip. At the exact same position as from my previous trip (near the actual ride), about four boys decided to cut the line and try to get where their friend were positioned at. My girlfriend saw a trash can in the line and tried to blocked their path as they were walking so that they wouldn't skip. Also, everyone else who was in line (the other school kids) were yelling at these boys for doing so. There wasn't a worker positioned to catch these boys and they actually got away with it.
Why is it only this ride that people want to skip in? I know that if I make another trip to Great America while visiting Chicago and if some kid decides to skip me on the Demon, I will probably curse them out like their mommy and daddy should be doing to them for doing something so stupid.
The worst is the little kids catching up to their mothers, fathers, cousins, friends, or whatever. So I always stop them and ask them how come they can cut everyone, then they respond that they know someone thats in line already, "you cant pass us" I say, but I just let them go anyways, but I always remind them that its wrong to line jump.
Bring back the stockades! Think about it, a person line jumps we put them in good old fashioned puritan style stockades. Place the stockades near the ques, so while we wait in line we can do what is neccessary to these scum. They could even have concession stand that sell soft and rotten fruit!
Seriously, though If your a big guy - block the jumpers. If your female - flirt with a big guy and get him to stand up for you, or just use a well placed elbow on the jumpers. Small guy or can't fight - step aside, but casully place out a foot in an awkward manner to accidentally trip them. Then accidentally step on a hand, after all you can pretend to just be clumsy. Not that I or this site would advocate such "accidents" .
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
I dont understand why some people think that everybody in the park has to wait in line except them. It bugs the heck out of me. Anyways it would help a lot if the employees would actually do something about it instead of just standing there. Its unfortunate that this stuff has to happen in the first place, but as long as line jumpers can get away with it, its gonna keep happening.
Sorry to hear the line jumping issue won't go away. I guess the only hope is each visit you get line jumped go to Gueat Relations. Enough complaints will make them do something. Long ago I stopped battling your safety is first and foremost. Unfortunately when you say something all the other people who've been jumped remain quite. I do feel it happens at Great America more then any othe Major Theme Park.
