Here is a quaint (I bet that is the first time that word has been used on this forum ) little post I just thought up...

What position would you want to work more thany anything if you were hired at Great America? I generalized the catagores (so there arn't options like American Eagle Ride Op). Choose one and vote, but also leave a little explanation as to why you choose what you chose.

This should be interisting and I'm putting my money that Ride OP will get picked the most (remember kids, you have to clean up raw vomit when you are a ride op  )

Edit: Office position does not give you CEO powers or such like that..

Poll will go for 30 days

I picked office/public relations. Although ride op sounds fun, you have to keep bending over and checking lab bars. I don't know for sure though.

I chose performing arts. I've always wanted to be in one of those shows and ride in the parade at night. That or be one of the creatrue crew at ff. I think that would be really cool.

I chose Performing Arts, b/c I am into the whole Lighting and Sound thing, I just wish the park would do more effects to make the park seem cool at night. Especially during freight fest!

^ Was it hard on your back to keep bending over to check the restraints?

Not too bad - I worked an impulse so there wasn't any bending over, but on the boomerang coaster it started to hurt after an o-c shift.

I chose ride operations, but I would want to eventually be a supervisor and then end up in management after college. You have to start at the bottom so that's why I would start as an op. You know, Dick Kinzel(CEO of Cedar Fair) started selling cotton candy at Cedar Point when he was a teen.

I chose ride op. Thought I'd rather work somewhere else and visit the park once a week.

Working a game would be great fun, you get to interact with people actually having a really good time. In guest relations it's all questions and ride ops don't really get to talk. If I had to choose a game it would be the County Fair basketball game, whenever I didn't have a customer I could just shoot.

I voted for maintenence. My second choice would be ride op, and third would be performing arts (not a dancer, behind the scenes person) . What can I say, I love electricity.

I voted maintenance because I'm really into knowing how exactly things work. And I'd like being able to run the rides in manual and whatnot, I just think it'd be fun.

But realistically, I would choose Ride Op. It just looks like fun, despite the fact that yes, you do have to clean up puke. I like pushing buttons too, so that's a plus. Right now I have a job where I run rides, but they're small rides. The controls are really similar to rides at GAm though. Next year...working at Cedar Point though! The real thing, oh yeah!

I picked maitenence too, because you get to take the trains off the tracks if your working at a coaster and you get to push buttons without cleaning up puke and hurting your back, and getting yelled at for not letting someone keep their lap bar above them by a foot.

Also, you get to know how everything works and fix stuff.

I don't know about the not hurting the back thing for maintenance. They do some pretty strenous stuff getting underneath those trains, having to carry large objects, and walking in dangerous places.

Are those really SF employees or are they employed through the business that is in the park? I know at Geauga Lake there is an entire different company that you must work through - a vending comapny or whatever. It isn't really affiliated with the park, but it has a license to sell food there. Is SF the same way?
