Shockwave vs Superman

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Yankee Harbor on July 21st, 2004, 10:53 am
This topic isnt to compare the two because u cant (arrow looper vs B&M Flyer). Its to tell if you would rater have Superman the Shockwave.

I would rather have SW because it was more fun then superman. S:UF was fun the first time now once you get past the pretzel loop, its boaring.

Shockwave. I just loved the first drop and roughness of the ride. Plus there was hardly ever a wait. Don't get me wrong Superman is fun too, but like you said after the pretzal loop there really isn't anything special after that.

If I Could, I'd want both of em. But since thats not gunna happen, Id keep Shockwave. I love SUF...but..Shockwave was my first big coaster.

Superman. It's smooth, the pretzal loop owns, and just getting into the "flying" position beats out an entire shockwave ride.

I would rather have SW, the ride was a lot more fun. if you havent ridden SUF in a while, the first ride is ok, but for me its the type of ride you can only ride once a day or you'll get sick of it.

SUF is way better than Shockwave ever was. I'm glad the piece of junk is on the hill.

Its no contest I would rather have SW. S:UF is the worst coaster in the park and Im not including Spacelys. I think S:UF was a big mistake. The only thing the coaster had going for it was the pretzel loop and I dont even like it anymore.

Yeah, but it still draws more of a crowd (even more than Deja Vu sometimes) than all the other coasters do. The last time I've been able to walk into the station was Opening Day.

Shockwave definitely. It was just more fun and exciting, and I liked the roughness.

Sorry everybody but I would have to say S:UF even though I do agree that after the pretzel loop it does get a little boring but in my opinion the pretzel loop is well worth it.

I like shockwave more because of all the inversions and the nice veiw. in my opinion SUF is a peice of junk and it should be sitting on the hill instead of shockwave.

Shockwave...

S:UF is only good in the front seat, and is too short of a ride, only has 2 inversions, not very tall. Only thing that it has going for it is the flying "feel", but like I said...the flying "feature" only works well in the front row.

Shockwave definatly. I think Superman is great in the back row during the pretzel loop. Flying is a great sensation but 7 inversions in my opinion is way better.
I wish Shockwave was as smooth as Superman is and as well built, then it definatly would still be up.

The front seat is very slow compared to the back seat. You're looking down anyway, so the back is way better.

My opinion, S:UF. Although it is kind of boring now, look at the lines. Shockwave was always a walk-on in recent years. S:UF is using all the switchbacks. If S:UF brings more people to the park, that means the park gets more money to build more rides.

I think that S:UF is better because of the flying effect and the pretzel loop. I hear from a lot of people is that SW is better because there was no line. Now if S:UF had no line, it would be millions times greater. And the best seat on S:UF is row eight far left seat.

Shockwave, is my friend. S:UF is not my friend. Well really I like Shockwaves many inversions compared to S:UF's to and it never had a line.

I'd take SUF any day.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Shockwave. I really do miss that huge curving first drop into that loop that was waaaaaayyyyy off the ground :( .
Finally Coaster Season!!

Superman is too slow. It shouldn't even be called Superman, because Superman flies faster than a speeding bullet and Superman is close to Whizzer's speed.

I don't know when you rode SUF last, but last Friday it was quite fast. It was hauling close to BTR. If you haven't been on it in awhile, I would ride it again.

SUF Was made into all that I'd ever expect B&M to go with a flying coasters. Its way to hard on the human body to do alot of elements on a flying coaster, it simple exerts to much force on you.
