Déjà Vu Height?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Dre on April 5th, 2003, 5:05 pm
On this site, for Déjà Vu, it says that the two towers are 178 ft. each, but on some other sites, like rcdb, it says they are 196 ft. Which is correct? I would assume 196 is because rcdb is always right (lol), and I also looked on coasterforce and it also said 196 ft.p.s. I hope this wasn't brought up before.

It's 178 feet I'm pretty sure. Even on the sign while waiting in line for DV it says its 178.

yep its 178ft., it does say it in line...however SFMM advertises theres as 196ft. Its kind of odd how Six Flags says the same rides are different heights. If you compare our S:UF stats to SFOG and SFGAdv you will find that ours is advertised as the tallest of the bunch.

All three Deja Vus are 178ft. Deja Vu is clearly shorter than V2.

Good to know... how can it look clearly shorter. It's just a few feet, and at that height it's hard to eyeball something like that.

Not true CoasterZak, you can clearly tell that V2 is taller than Deja Vu at SFGAm.

i heard that the dejavus are 196 feet, but ours is 178 feet because we did not have enough room so we had to save space and that is why there were so many mechanical problems, because ours was different

No, they are all the same height but advertised differently. All three Deja Vu's had the same problems and still have some problems. Want proof they are the same height? Look at a picture of SFGAm's Deja Vu and SFOG's or SFMM's and count the number of square box supports that support the tower. They are both the same height, I counted once I think I came up with 11 for all three.

How can they possibly be different heights and still have the same maximum speed. They're all 178ft. END OF STORY.

maybe that twenty feet is part of the support structures above the track.

Then it would be like that for every ride that has that type of structure... they are all the same height!

I agree they are all the same height. I've ridden on two of them. I was just commenting on why they would report as having different heights.

Okay... that still throws me that rcdb would have 196. They need to straighten that out.

My guess is this: the entire tower may be 196 ft tall, but the height from which you are dropped is 178 ft. The tower height includes the pullies. Now as for the apparent difference in height between Deja Vu and v2; perhaps Deja Vu is situated in a lower part of the park?

I don't think it's lower... I'm pretty sure the park is generally flat...

196ft-178ft = 18ft. If you were to imagine the downward slope of the park starting from the entry gates and makins its way to Deja Vu, the grade of that slope would be negligable. Therefore, the park would appear to be flat. This thought would still hold for cases where the slope of the land started later in the park.

I apologise! First for the spelling error in my previous message, and in the calculation error. The numbers should read as follows: Deja Vu=196ft, and v2=187ft. The difference between these figures is 9ft. So use 9ft instead of 18 ft in my hypothesis.

Well you don't need to apologize, you can go back and edit any mistakes you've made! Yes, i understand what you're saying but it's not probable.

Well, ya know.... honestly, v2 appears taller than Deja Vu, to me at least. This could be an illusion since v2`s towers look thinner than Deja Vu`s due to their lack of support structure, this could make them appear taller. Perhaps v2`s lighter color adds to the illusion. I`m trying to stay away from the argument that Vekoma and/or The Flags are falsifying the stats of the ride(Deja Vu) to increase ridership. This may very well be the case.
