I dont believe DDD is SFGAm's ride, generally Sky Coasters are leased, though with the multiple IP changes in the past decade, not sure if that's still the case or if Ride Entertainment owns them all now. It would be up to the owner of the ride to come remove it generally.

Most rides were running today except the flumes, Condor, Lobster, Giant Drop, the train and Sky Trek Tower.

Quite a chilly day but here are some minor observations from opening day:

  • New "Six Flags Great America" sign in front of the Carousel.
  • Bubble tea stand opened next to the Hometown Fun Machine.
  • New Daffy Duck statue in front of the Hometown Square railroad station.
  • Old firehouse was repainted from its opening day Marriott orange color scheme to a gray/white color but is currently closed though noted on the map as being a VIP lounge that'll require a fee to enter.
  • Trudy's is completely empty, has nothing inside and is gutted. All of its signage and outside advertisements still say it's called Trudy's but the map lists it as "Coaster Candy" so there's probably going to be some work done to remodel it.
  • County Fair entrance arc is being redone. It was previously falling apart, needed quite some TLC, and had a strange middle ages-esque font that didn't fit the theme. Now, it got a fresh coat of paint but the words "County Fair" and "Hometown Square" are missing.
  • Ride Information Center has taken the place of the Strollers/Wheelchair stand in Orleans Place.
  • My Six Flags Photos stand in Carousel Plaza next to Flags was replaced by Strollers/Wheelchair stand.
  • Antoine's in Orleans Place is closed and has a piece of plywood over where it's right doors used to be.

It's a bit too chilly for that, wouldn't you agree? Seems I missed that off my list.

ugh, I hate that we keep stripping away Park History. Every time they remodel something it ends up being a huge disappointment. Most recent example being Carousel Gifts. Debate me if you think I'm wrong.

You sure this is new, or just moved from the area between the games and Southwest Territory Bridge?

I like the changes when I visited the park yesterday, I really do. But, I really wish they would’ve tried to mirror Marriott’s era, if its possible. Hometown Square’s little “plaza” was ruined after that disaster of a show IgNight…

Again, I guess all things must come to an end.

The statue in the Southwest Territory bridge is dressed like a cowboy while the new statue is smaller and dressed like a carnie. In retrospect, the statue would've fit in better in County Fair but hey, a new statue is a new statue.

I couldn't ride the American Eagle but I believe the red train is now the one in operation. Last year, only the blue train ran but now the blue train seems to be out of service.

Aquaman Splashdown has been missing its sign since last Fright Fest. Guess they haven't gotten around to replacing it somehow.

Went to the park yesterday for the first time this season. First off, I can't remember if anyone has mentioned it before, but all the drinking fountains by the bathrooms have been removed. Not sure why the park thinks that's a good idea. Now you have to wait in a food service line to get a tiny cup of water. Some food kiosks said they would only sell a bottle of water and wouldn't give out a free cup.

Second, I'm fairly impressed with the addition of the bubble tea and cheesecake-on-a-stick stands. Those stands, cheesecake in particular, are some of the first "unique" items offered at the park in a long time and a huge step away from the generic pizza, burgers, and chicken strips thst the park has been peddling for a long time. I hope the park continues to add unique and creative food options that add to the amusement park experience.

Agree 100% with your point about the water fountains! I use them ALL the time when I"m at the park! There was one (out of the 2) fountains on by Batman. That was the only fountain I found that was present and working. I was able to get water from the snack stand in Southwest (she even gave me 2 cups that I asked for!)

I noticed that the bathrooms between Whizzer & Viper had new water fountains, but it was closed. Perhaps they'll be adding those new fountains to all the bathrooms? I hope so.

The only two working fountains I encountered were the one at the front of the park and the one at the Batman bathrooms. The water was nice and cold, at least.

Also, Maxx has music & sound effects during the launch now.

^ YES! The pre-launch sounds are a nice addition to Maxx!

IT appears that the seats on X-Flight and the lapbar pad on Raging Bull on at least red train were new!
