woman jumped fence to retrieve sports bottle

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby great america fan on September 7th, 2015, 8:48 pm
I was at the park yesterday in line for eagle it was just me and my friend and these two women. well on the over pass she dropped her sports bottle. ok whatever. so after that she walks down the stares and JUMPS THE FENCE. so I record her doing it. after that I go up to the station it was walk on but only on red. "comes important later" and ride so when I get off I go to the attendant and show them this videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv8w8nJak9M the ride attended took it very seriously and gets his supervisor and security. after them evacuating the ride after they made sure they weren't still over the fence. I was pretty sure they come over but I ran because her friend saw me and started screaming at me well at this point they started unloading the train that was on the brake run and SHE WAS ON IT they moved me on the brake run at this point I was standing in the exit. so then when I saw them I told the women who I believe was the supervisor. and she told me to get back in the exit. so long story short they got away and I was given front of the line passes for my help.

Well that's a dick move man. They weren't hurting anyone and weren't in any danger. Why tell anyone? I probably would've done the same thing if I dropped my sports bottle.

I don't think its a dick move at all. Although I would have said something ahead of time instead of waiting till after my ride. That appears to be the service road there and sometimes those vehicles are not going the slowest even though they should. She could have been struck, the video doesn't show her rejumping the fence to get in line again so they would want to, as a precaution, do a track walk to make sure nobody was in a restricted area.

No deaths is the goal!

If anything HER jumping the fence was the dick move. It's not that hard to approach an employee and say "hey my sports bottle dropped down in the service way, can you send someone to retrieve it please" Since it wasn't within a restricted ride area, just the service area they would have gotten it with possibly no interruption to service assuming they had extra staff on hand.

Employees walk on that road all the time. There was no more danger than crossing a regular street in a neighborhood. It seemed like it wasnt even a big deal. Just jumped the fence to go grab the bottle. And the motive of this guy filming her seems to be completely for entertainment. Not once in the post did he say he was considered for her safety. Just did it to be a douche. Like I said, I would have done the same thing, and if I got kicked out of the park for this little thing I would be furious.

Great America fan did the right thing, the person was trespassing. Ask they had to do was talk to an employee. Usually they're able to help you out.

I would rather get an employee to help, rather than getting kicked out and possibly banned for Life.

If you jump a fence of any kind into a restricted area on park property. No matter the danger level. You deserve to be reported and kicked out.

This has to be one of the worst posts I have ever seen. Seriously, rules are rules, follow them or suffer the consequences. And never hop or climb over a fence EVER. It's only a service road? Who the hell gives a crap if it's only a service road. If you're not an employee, you don't belong there, EVER. PERIOD. The woman was a moron, and by defending her, you have proven that you are also a moron.

That's our society today, sadly. Rules don't matter.

You don't know what a person is going to do after hopping a fence by a ride or what the true intentions are. She could put herself and everyone in danger if she really wanted to. Look at what just happened at Cedar Point. Look at what happened at Six Flags Over Georgia years ago (that resulted in a broken leg for a rider in addition to the death of the teen). A man purposely killed himself with a ride in Naperville this summer. They did the right thing by evacuating the ride, even if she was just retrieving a bottle. Someone entering a clearly restricted area should not be trusted.

Anyone defending this woman and putting down the OP, please just stop. There is always a better option than breaking the law.

Not everything has to be a statement about society. If she had jumped the fence near a ride like the CP guy, of course my opinion would be different. But she was not in any actual danger. Do you guys really think this woman should have been banned for life? I don't. And that's what OP could have done to her.

Why? If there is no danger for her or anyone else, why should she be kicked out?

Yes, if someone goes where they CLEARLY should NOT go, they ABSOLUTELY deserve to be banned FOR LIFE. It amazes me that you are defending this stupidity, and insisting you would do the same thing.

Why is it so clear? It's simply a road closed off with a fence.

Yes, a FENCE. Believe it or not, a fence actually has a purpose. It's not there to look nice. It's there to keep MORONS like you OUT!!!

You have to resort to insults, because you can not make a good argument. Was she in danger? Very little. Was she putting anyone else in danger? No. Was she doing any damage to the theme park? No.

Just because you dont perceive the danger doesnt mean there isnt any. Believe it or not the rules are there for a reason. Reporting her was the right thing (although I agree with a previous poster it should have been done before your ride). The lady who dropper her bottle could just have easily talked to ride attendants to get somebody out there to get her bottle. Obviously there were people available as they showed up to make sure she wasnt in the ride area.

If you think jumping into areas where you arent allowed is ok ask the guy who jumped a fence near Raptor recently, he didnt see any danger either...

But she wasn't, so it's a moot point. I stand by my argument. There is never a reason to defend a person who breaks a law, and to trash a person who turned that person in in the interest of everyone's safety.

I am glad you think she knows what happening all over the park. How do you think maintenance personnel get to Raging Bull, Giant Drop, Whizzer, Viper or Eagle? Had there been an emergency at any of the rides they would have come flying around that road with their big red trucks. But I am sure you knew that...

It's somewhat easy to hear a truck coming. There was definitely some risk, but no more than crossing a road. Again, if OP was truly concerned about her safety, he should have alerted an employee immediately or yelled out to her that she was in danger. He just wanted a good laugh.

^Yeah with eagle goliath and xflight running nearby hearing a truck is a breeze.

I give up.

To the original poster, you did the right thing reporting her. Thankfully nobody got hurt over a sports bottle.

The service road to Raging Bull is not fenced off, just wanted to point that out. Yes, there may have been some danger to her by jumping the fence into that area, but any scenarios that could have caused her injuries would have all been preventable. Emergency vehicles would have sirens, the train has a horn, ect. Though I'm not saying what she did was right, I'm saying there wasn't any real threat of being decapitated by a coaster, but she still could have gotten hit by a car IF the driver wasn't paying attention.

Did he do the right thing reporting her? By the time he reported her she was already back in line. Kicking her out would have done nothing at that point.

Okay, lets all stop feeding the troll. The park has rules, if someone can't respect them, they need to be able to face the consequences.

And to "superman" maybe you should read the Forum rules page before posting about or supporting breaking park warnings...

"Park Rules
Please be sure to abide by park rules and regulations at all times. Anything that breaks a park rule is not allowed on this website. If you break park rules you will also be banned from this website."

I am not trying to troll. I don't mean to make anyone mad here, I'm just telling you guys my opinion. I do think everyone should follow the parks rules, but in this case there was no reason for OP to report her. Why don't you guys see that OP's reason for reporting her was not because of a concern for her safety or to stop an inconvenience to guests. It was just because he thought it would be fun.
