Has SFGA ever had a dark ride? I know they have The Dark Knight, but I am talking about more of a traditional type of dark ride (such as The Monster Plantation as SFOG or an interactive dark ride such as the soon-to-be-closed Scooby Doo ride at Six Flags St. Louis). My family and I visited the park for the first time this year (and are season pass members), and I feel that this is something the park lacks. Has there ever been any talks, rumors, etc. of them getting one in the near future?
Space Shuttle America is as close as it gets, I think. Buccaneer Battle could probably be converted into something of a dark ride, if they really wanted to, but I'm not an expert on them. I don't really care for dark rides, I know a lot of people do. For that reason, I wouldn't be opposed, but I'd take a good flat 11 times out of 10 if we're talking about mid-size additions. I wouldn't be surprised to see something of the sort, though, based on the pair of Justice League rides going to Texas and St. Louis next year.
This past year at no coaster con Hank said he is interested in the idea of adding a dark ride. Actually he said a dark ride was one of the considerations for Iron Wolf's sport before they officially went with Goliath.
Since Six Flags has gotten back on board with installing Sally dark rides at SFStl and SFOT, hopefully in the future they will expand on that at other parks. They could easily fit one in the spot of Ragin Cajun. Would prefer a dark ride over a Sky Screamer.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
A dark ride has definitely been in the parks mind for a while. I remember back at TPR day in 2010, someone asked about a dark ride and Hank replied that they had looked into it, and I believe even had some people from Sally at the park, but we then got Dark Knight instead.
I've always wondered why Marriott never built any dark rides though. Since they were all about theming and being family friendly, it seems to me like a dark ride would have been a natural pick for the parks.
