New Music at SFGAm (Satellite?)

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Aero737 on April 4th, 2004, 4:03 pm
From what I've heard from trip reports from SFKK, and SFGAdv Six Flags has started a new satellite radio program. I guess all the parks tune into a special Six Flags satellite radio channel so they all play the same music at the same time. Anyone have any more details on this?

No, but they probably signed a contract with Sirius or XM. It seems logical, especially since they won't have to hardwire the entire park's rock speakers. P.A. announcements will probably be sent wirelessly from Guest Relations.

You need speakers to have music.

Well, what I think would be cool is if they played music in the lines like C.P. does.

I don't. I coudln't stand two days of waiting in lines with bad music, I don't know how I could last an entire season of it. I like the themed music because, well, it keeps the themes. additionally, you don't have to worry about offending certain people and annoying others.

what's cool is with all the parks synced up, TRs will become really spooky. I mean, imagine people in Chicago and California both standing in line for Batman at the same point at the same time and they know this because they were listening to the same song.

I think it wil be better this way. I think its true because sfgadv announced that they will be getting a magor audio enhancement. I think itll be good because itll make a walk in the park more exciting if your listening to good music. At universal its more exciting because they play good music, and music from the movies. i think here they will play stuff like simple plan and crap that they play in the lines at magic mountain.

I do think for rides like v2, Deja Vu, The bull, Eagle. ect. they should put "new music" in the lines. The Rides like Batman and Superman should stick with there theme music. For batman keep the Batman sound track up there, not the "new" techno the park has been trying to replace the old Batman sound track with.

Ah I know there is music in some of the lines at CP, but if you catch it on a busy day you will have DJs in many of the lines which is actually really cool.

Oh once BKF moved into my park I had to download the entire soundtrack. It's incredible and so appropriate.

They play techno at SFMM - I wonder why this wouldn't be a park chain thing.

Why would all the parks want to play the same music at the same time? That DESTROYS theming. Music is part of the immerisve experience.

This satellite feed is for the music on the midways. I experienced this while visiting SFKK this past Thurs. and Fri.

Any music or speeches related to a particular ride will be separate from the midway feed.

The midway feed at SFKK included the new SF commercial song (Venga Boys) and other various uplifting tunes.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Well Basically SFGAM has themed music for every area in the park including the midways. I do not believe the Feed even exists. Why would you want to spend millions on a feed so that each park can play the same music?

Why not Carlo?

If SF wants to play the same music throughout their parks, especially the SF commercial song, why not have a satellite feed to do this?

I do see your point about SFGAm and the themed sections. SFKK really doesn't have themed areas so this method makes sense.

We will have to see what happens with SFGAm when they open.

I would rather not have themed carnival songs throughout the park, but rather normal songs, such as:

Venga Boys - "We Like to Party"
The Offspring- "I want to be Sedated"
Smash Mouth - "All Star"
Darude - "Sandstorm"

These are just some examples of songs that I'd rather hear throughout the day (especially in queue lines) instead of the wordless repeticious (is that a word??) tune that is normally played.
