4th of July Week Crowds

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I know 4th of July week crowds have been mentioned before, but I didn't find any threads about it specifically.

Basically I was wondering what everyone thought about the entire week, or, in particular, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

How would you rate the fireworks on the 4th? (and is the parking lot the best view?)

Will the crowds be any less on Monday the 8th, after namtaB has ended? (how long with Batman be down to switch directions?)

Crowds on the 4th last year were insane. I think they stated the largest capacity ever and were turning people away at the gate (60k+). We vwent the saturday after the 4th (3 days later and it wasn't bad).

I thought the fireworks were outstanding. We were sitting near superman and saw everything (they launch from behind the sheds there across the river)

Monday is always much less and Batman Backwards will be done. They stated it'll be down a week to switch back during NoCoaster Con.

^I would assume he's talking about the "river" to the left of the drop off area in the parking lot.

Yes. The body of water that appears to be a iver when you ride Superman, more like a wider creek ;)

Nope, last year, the 3rd Saturday of Fright Fright Fest was the busiest day in 11 seasons at only 49,200, and they hadn't hit capacity yet.

Back to 4th of July, I would recommend staying far away from the park July 3rd-7th, unless of course you want to witness the insanity for yourself

Last year July 3rd wasn't bad at all! the lines maxed out at 45 minutes to an hour! I think the longest line I waited in all day that day was loggers run which was an hour due to the heat!

 And this is why I avoid SFGAm during the month of July, especially because of the 4th. I notice July is by far the busiest month of the year or at least the last few times I went during the month of July, it was absurdly packed. I remember one July day, I rode 3 major coasters and I think 3 flats the whole day. Ridiculous.

My friends and I went the 3rd and there was like no one there. We got 45 rides for the whole day....22 of that was on BTR alone
SF trips 09 = 15
SF trips 10= 11
SF trips 11 =7

I think the end of July and beginning of August is pretty bad. Yes, July 4th is also bad, but yet there is a lot of time inbetween those July dates (about 2 weeks). I actually think that Saturdays during Fright Fest are bad too because you have reduced capacity at the park since there is usually only 1 water ride open if it is even going to be open. Also, people are only going to ONE park as compared to TWO (meaning the waterpark).
