Food options?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Why is there not a forum grouping for food? Mainly I want to know if buying food in advance for 2/3 is a good deal or not. I've searched and searched but cannot find an online list of SFGAM menus and food prices... Thanks!

There's not a forum grouping for it because it's over priced, typical amusement park food. You can find burgers, hot dogs, a variety of chicken dishes, funnel cakes, etc. Expect to pay quite a bit for all of those. For a one time visit, I would consider either packing a lunch and keeping it in a cooler in your car, or leaving the park and eating at one of the restaurants outside of the park. If you want cheap, then there's McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, and Jimmy Johns all very close to the park on Grand Ave. Several other chains are near by. If you want some better quality food, then there are also a few sit down restaurants within a few miles as well.

If you're going to be making repeat visits, then a season dining pass might be worth it for you. You could then try around and if you get enough discussion going, then maybe a separate food board can be started.

Hopefully the food workers were taught sense of urgency this year. Slowest food workers I have ever seen.

Candy: What you lookin' at?
Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama.
Candy: Yeah, you see something you like?
Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.

pack a cooler with your own food and save the $$ way over priced and poor quality. or run out to mcdonalds or some place outside the park and save $ and get better food. i've eaten in the park a few times and when I come again in Sept i'm packing a cooler and eating at my car.

I have gone twice and both times it was slow and the food was uncooked!

Like jwlnroe said, I wouldn't spend money eating in the park. It's overpriced and very mediocre at best. BYO snacks and then a car picnic or eating at some place around the park is the way to do it.

Last weekend after my visit to the park I had dinner at "The Shanty" which is located at the intersection of Wadsworth and Route 41. It was only about a 15min drive north of Grand on 41. The service was great, the food was stellar and reasonably priced. If you're looking for something a little more gourmet than the standard chain restaurants immediately around the park, then I'd recommend it. http://www.theshantyrestaurant.com

Also worth noting, right behind the park on Milwaukee Ave there is InLaws, a nice resteraunt with great good and reasonable prices. Also a very nice bar area if you're into that kind of thing. Whenever the bears play there is free pizza which is damn good. They also have $3.99 all you can eat pizza, and it's their real home made pizza, they just keep making you personal size pizzas til you're done eating :)
