How would you theme them?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby InsaneNewman on January 3rd, 2004, 3:54 am
Let's say, for discussion sake, that you could re-theme one area of GAm. (Themeing means decoration, shops, resturants, etc. This could also include shows and castmembers but NOT NEW RIDES!) Which would it be? Money issues aside, what would you do in your area?

Do try to make these somewhat plausable (I.E., NOT I would fill the main fountains with jello and have them cover the idiotic general public with slime)!

Lets see what we can come up with, maybe give SIx Flags some ideas!

Well I said this a while ago, but I think they should retheme Yankee Harbor to an industrial theme site. I mean Batman allready has the sewer system and industrial look. V2 can be a new high tech experimental lab or something. The water rides can be theme to a sea port. And I'm sure there is a lot more ideas people can come up with.

I know Yankee Harbor is supposed to be a sea side village, but it's just not anymore.

I understand why you would like that idea but I think the park would have trouble hkeeping it looking nice.

I would turn yukon into yankee harbor, rebuild the lighthouse, and put more focus on the boardwalk area. I also want to entirely redesign bugs bunnys yukon adv. because its pretty bad.

I would like to refurbish the theming in County Fair.
When you think about it, there really isn't much you could do, but I would like to have more lights. You could add different colored spotlights to light up the structure of Dare Devil Dive, and I would love to hang chaser lights on the American Eagle's lift and drop, Demon's lift and drop, and Iron Wolf's lift.
I can't think of anything to enhance it during the daytime.

I would get ridd of that huge games gallery behind all of the midway games near eagle. All of the games in there are really old and dirty. I would also plant more trees in swt, and pit more flower baskets, and buckets, as well as dig up some ground around the front of chobasco to plant some shrubs and flowers. I would have mexican bands play on the stage in the open aired building connected to chobasco, and bring back the Warner Brothers Western stunt Show, replacing all of that stupid circus crap. I wolud have a lot more color in swt, like green red and yellow. I would also POSBLY paint the handrails on viper all through the ride red or green but I'm not sure how that would look.

For county fair again, I would put that vine tunnel back up near demon.

For carosuel plaza, I would put characters at the enterence, and I would put that big six flags stage that was at sfgadv last year in the center of the enterence section between sky trek tower and ssa. I would hire a huge crew of people and street washers to clean the gum off of every surface in the park. i would put security cams in every line newr colored railings or walls where people scratch messages in the paint. I would work hard to make the employees nicer, and lower park food prices by 15%. I would make newer, bigger, and better floats for the parade, and give it a marching band playing atlanta a&t's bet big southern classic song from Drumline. I would Improve the pyrotechnics to a firework show and give it lazers. I would put lights on all the railings on am. eagle, and plant more trees around deja Vu. I would put a better magic show in orleans place, turn yukon territory into yankee harbor, and put a 3d batman ride from wbmw gold coast in the enterence area but update it with new affects.

was that vine tunnel taken down when Sky Whirl was....I think I remember that, I liked it. I would also hire nicer employees. The employees at our park are evil compared to employees at Cedar Point! I know SUF was just put in, but I would definatly work on the landscaping around and in it. I think the grass and everything kinda diddnt work out as they planned....it never really grew in, it turned into weeds. and one of those weeds cut me! I would also lower the prices for the food and other merchandise. Its too expensive! I would also do some work on Yankee harbor it just doesnt seem seaside-ish anymore.

I think they should build the land up so high around suf that it seans like you are sweeping around trenches in a hill.

If you have a problem with the employees complain to the park. Complaining on here really isnt doing any good. I think we should be thanking employees instead of complaining about them. In my experience Six Flags employees are more professional than Cedar Point's. If I may ask this , what rides did yo have the most promblems at?

If I was the park I would just work on all of the areas we already have. I forgot about the vine tunnel. They should bring that back. Every section shuld look as good as SWT.

Yes! The vine tunnel! I completely forgot about it. I remember it from my first trip to GAm back in 1999. I would definately add that back in. And even though it doesn't have much to do with theming, I'd repaint the Demon, Whizzer, American Eagle, Iron Wolf, and Deja Vu's supports.

Ice Mountain Splash would be renamed back to Yankee Clipper!

I would make less pavement and more trees/flowers in the Space Shuttle America/Sky Trek Tower area.

One other thing I thought of is that I'd repave all of the midways so they slope downward to all of the drains to eliminate the puddles on the midway problem.

You can't really put the vine tunnel back in with Deja Vu there. It would just look out of place and also those Deja games are there to. Looks like Deja Vu has caused more then mechanical problems, it also took out the vine tunnel.

They should put a vine tunnel in a different area, like Yukon Territory.

In terms of themeing, I would love to see them build a cityscape around SUF... I mean, how cool would it be if the pretzel loop circled around a sky bridge between two buildings. I mean, yeah, SUF is great, but imagine it if all the twists and turns were actually avoiding buildings. It wouldn't even cost that much. All you need is the shells. I think that would make the ride 10X better.

Oh, yes, and they need to theme the que lines better as well. I mean, half the reason I love Batman is because you actually get the EXPERIENCE. SUF needs to be more than a ride, it needs to be an adventure.

Then again, you could say that about almost every ride in the park, excluding rides in SWT and Batman the Ride. One thing I really respect about Disney parks, which Six Flags just doesn't get, is that the wait should be part of the experience as well. The lines pass a lot faster and guests are a lot happier if they are told the "story" of the ride while they wait (i.e. Tower of Terror in WDW, the experience begins the moment you enter the attraction, not just the drop).

IMHO, the signs of the heros and villians (which are mostly unreadable from the line anyway) are just plain lame.

I know this was long, thank you for sticking with me!

I would make the park into a huge skatepark and then let anyone bring rollerblades skateboards or bikes in it would make it alot more fun to get from ride to ride and faster

Good points InsaneNewMan

I would love to ride SUF with themeing. Just think about it Batman would be just as lame as SUF without its themeing.

I would theme a futuristic tomorrowland type area and I would incorporate the Deja area. I think lots of interesting stuff could be done with lasers, fog and other special effects on that ride. They could really hype it up with a couple grand.

Insane Newman is right. SUF would be very cool with all the cityscape, just like batman is cool with gotham city all around it. I think the cityscape should look as much as possible like Metropolis, and that would make the ride soooo much better!

was it just me, or did riding Superman feel like you weren't flying? maybe it was because of tiny trees and nothing to see but weeds when you face the ground.....i think they should build somthing city-like to give the ride more of a purpose

Can you just imagine smoke and large skyscrapers and what not? Imagine if Disney could theme that ride like MGM is themed with the city theme. That would be one amazing ride if they spent a ton of money on it.

Six Flags needs to learn there is more to a ride than just the ride.

To an extent though. I would rather have a Six Flags park then Disney, Disney has small ride and not alot of them. Six Flags have many rides but they might not be as well themed.

if SFGAM was a skatepark there would be like 5 or more injuries in a day. and what if the people don't know how to ride a stateboard etc. it would be stupid.
