Today, after waiting two hours for X-flight, the staff announced that they were experiencing a "Power Blip" with the ride and that the would try to get it running soon. After 10 minutes of waiting in the station, I realized that I hadn't heard the roar of Eagle or Demon in a while. Eagle was stuck on the lift at the top, and Demon trains were nowhere to be seen. After watching for 10 minutes, I concluded that all of X-Flight, Demon, Eagle, Revolution, Bull, Viper, Giant Drop, and V2 were not running. I couldn't see anymore rides. This continued for 10 more minutes but then Eagle started up, Demon, Viper, and V2 sent empty trains through the coarse, and then finally X-Flight started up again. Bull was down for a while though.
Does anyone have any information about what might have occurred? I don't think it was a complete power outage, but could this have happened? It all just seemed rather strange to me. By the way, this was between the times of 12:45 to about 1:30 Saturday the 19th.
The park has different power grids. I know Southwest and Hurricane Harbor is one grid, not sure how the rest is split up. The way coasters work, even losing power for a second will cause a full shut down that can only be reset by the park's maintenance staff. Due to the obvious difficulties of evacuating riders, especially when multiple rides go down at the same time, whenever there is a power disruption, all rides that have the potential to stop in a position that is not the normal unload position are shut down for safety until the park is reasonably confident that the power is back on for good.
^Yes, that type of stuff has happened before - I even remember it happening last year. The park opened, and half the park was running, and half of it was closed. The V2, Superman, Batman the Ride, etc side was closed, and the Demon, Triple Play, Viper, Hurricane Harbor I believe was open, that side was open. They gave vouchers at the beginning of the day saying we are sorry that this has happened, and thus you can come back another day. The one thing I didn't really like about those vouchers (even though I don't need it) is that they told people to come back in September, or October. If you are on vacation for a week, what are you going to do? Come back in September... It didn't bother me that much I guess. It wasn't their fault half the park was closed.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
well V2 was down do to it running to fast and they had to fix that but the park had a power outage for an hr n half today. Didnt bother me a bit i ate and walked to bull and it was up and running. Everyone kept saying i want a refund and stuff its like people it wasnt even a quarter of the day and you will be waiting that long to get on a ride anyways so what was the problem? If they saw this happening wouldnt you just jump out of line and grab something to eat?
