Jcoaster95's SFGAm Suggestions

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Jcoaster95 on April 23rd, 2012, 12:32 am
As a loyal fan of the park, I constantly come op with possibilities for new additions to Six Flags Great America. Like a 500' tall launched 4D coaster they should put over the entire park :D

In all seriousness though, like anyone else, I actually have had a few ideas for the future of Great America. It's basically narrowed down into three points:

-The return of a better kiddie area
-The return of classic names and themes
-A few new flat rides

Let's start with the kiddie areas.

Under Shapiro, we got Wiggles World. Yep, we were thriving for families! Too bad the new management threw that all away. Left with no popular theme, Kidzopolis is only living up to half of its potential. So what can we do with it?

1. Theme it to Looney Tunes
2. Rebuild it as the entrance to American Eagle making it a new "American Eagle Plaza" featuring the model of the ride (if the park still has it); pave over the top half of wilderness theater and put the kiddie rides from kidzopolis there, and use the bottom half and stage for kid's shows. Re-route Picnic Grove entrance
3. Remove the Go-Karts for good, rebuild a Looney Tunes kiddie area
4. Theme the now outdated Camp Cartoon to Looney Tunes, move Spaceley's to another park (SFStl needs a kiddie), build playground in the former Iron Wolf's second half. Put the BBNP rides in Spaceley's place.
5. Both #2 and #4

Classic Names and Themes?

How about a bit of nostalgia? We could:

-Rename V2 as "Tidal Wave Strikes Back" and paint it shades of blue. Or if for some reason V2 gets removed (rumors), replace it with an Intamin Half Pipe or Twin Hammer and give it the same name and theme. Hell, maybe a gerstlauer spinner would fit there over the water and could have the same name and theme.
-The painting of batman dark purple with pitch black supports. It needs a paint job!!! Just no blue
-I actually had a dream that there was a twin Moser spring ride in Yankee Harbor themed to a lighthouse.
-Crazy wishful thinking, but in my dream, Iron Wolf came back as a floorless coaster re-engineered to be smoother, as in a whole new coaster

In reality though, what should replace Iron Wolf?
-as I mentioned before, a playground in the former second half
-in the station/first half area..... S&S Screamin Swing in the area closer to the service road, and a Larson Flying Scooters in the area where the station is now. I measured with Google Earth, there's enough room for both 8)

Any other flats? Well there's the delema of the extremely unpopular Buccaneer Battle, will it stay?
If not, maybe we can finally see a return of a ferris wheel there.

What are your thoughts/suggestions on this? Do you have any other ideas?

- I agree about adding a new Looney Tunes themed area. I don't know about removing Spacely however.
- Repaint V2 Yes, Rename V2, Maybe but not Tidal Wave Strikes Back. How about Swashbuckler?
- We already have Ragin Cajun, Why would we need a 2nd Spinning Coaster?
- How about Replace King Chaos with a Screaming Swings? (My Trademark Idea)
- Isn't Bouncer/ Bouncing With Wags the same as a Moser Spring Ride? At least in ride program.
- How About replace V2 with a Ferris Wheel? Would pretty much fit the same area.
- An Intamin Half Pipe is pretty similar to Revolution.
- Agree 100% on a Batman repaint

Some Random Ideas:
- Interactive Dark Ride in Southwest Territory
- Complete Refurbishment of Whizzer
- New Trains on Eagle
- Removal of Dare Devil Dive and A New Indoor Theater In It's Place
- Fun Machine or Triple Play enclosed to allow more rides during a storm
- New Trains on Demon

Based on your suggestions, I could see an indoor theater going in Wolf's first half, putting the Screamin' Swing in place of Chaos, and putting the Flying Scooters in Big Top's old spot, AKA replace daredevil dive.

-New Paint job/new trains and complete overhaul retheme of the demon
-Batman + paintjob = Cool again
-Timberliners for you know what and a new paint job (eagle)
-Bring in a 7 inversion floorless - we need something of that caliber
-go big or go home? how about a 300 footer in our park would be nice
-Record breaking stand-up (in replace of floorless one or other)
-Any kind of record breaking ride
-goodbye V2
Exiting duealing water coasters in replace of our log flume and yankee clipper

skys the limit! just depends what the mood is and what they want and the people want

I'd rather save Wolfs spot for a BIG future coaster and use flats to fill in current empty slots in the park(Trailblazer, King Chaos, Dare Devil Dive, Hometown Park, Wilderness Theater, Etc.)

I know people are saying bring back the Looney Tunes area, but the problem is whether or not they are relevant to today's younger children. They just made a newer show of the Looney Tunes, but I don't know how are the ratings of it. I hate the Wiggles as much as the next guy, but they to me are more relevant for today. Thomas the Train is even better because the company that makes Thomas keep on releasing new movies.

^The thing is, Six Flags supposedly has a good relationship with Looney Tunes, DC comes, etc.

I say no to new trains on Demon, since I've heard the alternatives suck, and Arrow trains are awesome :)

I really don't see the park getting a floorless any time soon due to X-Flight, or any major coaster for that matter.

My dreams are (and I think would actually work....) :

Demon gets new trains with the same restraints as Phantom's Revenge (just add metal 'grab bars' to top of lap bars so peeps can hold on). (Whoever said the new Vekoma trains are not good - I agree. You don't headbang, but they hold you BACK and DOWN and jerk you around violently. It's a pain trade/off.)

Demon gets a new few hundred feet of track between the station and the lift. Foggy/lighted and or dark winding tunnel. This will help block for easier 3 train op, as well.

If Demon doesn't get lap bars, for gods sake put in a new, properly heartlined piece of track on the corkscrew entrance. That's many years of pain right there!

Note the awesome opportunity for re-marketing the ride. All sorts of things are possible there....

Open up a new 'boardwalk' or similarly themed area directly in front of the American Eagle; between the Eagle and the train tracks. Have a train station there, as well as a bridge or tunnel connecting the area to the rest of the park. Put some old type flats over there; maybe a tilt-a-whirl, ferris wheel, the old carousel, etc. One of those screamin swings would be nice, too. Then, you can put the Eagle entrance where it belongs - by the actual ride. The que can wind under the station.

Have some sort of "magic bridge" connecting Hometown Square with Gotham City. Finally, you can ride Whizzer then jump over to Batman, etc....
