I was wondering why Batman The Ride does not have an adjustable seat belt that clips into the harness? I know that V2 has one. The reason I ask this is because my friend was kicked off the Batman, due to not being able to clip the belt in. He was told he was "too big" for the ride when in fact he is not and just has large shoulders.
The way the seatbelts are arranged on those two rides are completely different as well. Besides, on V2, the inner belt buckle is for very tiny people. I'm a large person myself, but even if I dropped 75 pounds or so, I'd still have to use the outer buckle on V2. One thing that is interesting though is that B&M does have some seats on trains that are intended for larger individuals. Look at Hulk or Dueling Dragons at IOA. I'm surprised that SFGAm hasn't offered these on some of the newer B&M rides they have. I can understand with Batman since that's an older ride. Not sure on Raging Bull or Superman.
My friend can fit on Raging Bull and Superman and pretty much every other ride just not Batman. But you are right they need to accommodate more for larger people.
^^I don't think any Hypers or Flyers have them. I think it's just Inverts, Dive Machines, and Floorless's. I saw someone having to take the Walk of Shame on V2 yesterday. If you want tight seats go to Cedar Point. Still rides should be more accomdating
Actually Superman already has the "big boy" seats...they are just every seat on every train. And raging bull is slightly more accommodating because the only thing that would deny you would be your thighs. There is a way to get the buckle clipped on Batman when you have huge shoulders. I was 300 at one point on the verge of not being able to fit on some rides. But now even at 210 and 6'6" I still cut it close just because of my height.
The seatbelts used to be longer on Batman they were shortened in either 06 or 07 because of B&M recommending they be shortened. I am unsure why but it could be any reason, also B&M is known for having extremely strict safety requirements and restraints can only safely be guarenteed to hold a certain amount of weight. I am under the assumption that most parks will have the seatbelt length for the average weight of what is the restraints reccomended weight is, then some parks (like Kumba at Busch Gardens) will pay a higher insurance premium to not have them.
Well, this was started about restraints, but its a general topic title, so here's a different question!
1: Did BTR use to have 3 trains? 2: I noticed the last few years they have only had the wheel covers on one of the 2 trains, with the rest sitting by the side track, and this year I didn't see them on either train. Anyone know if there is a real reason or are they just not wanting to put the time into putting them back on?
1. No, never had 3 trains, always ran 2. However 4 trains have run it's tracks. In 1994/1995 our original trains were sent to SFStL and SFGAm received the new set, I don't remember why though, was either something with the production timetable or reliability, either way SFStL absolutely positively had to have the ride open on time, cause that's just how things were back in the day.
2. No idea, others can answer better I'm guessing, but I'm willing to just about guarantee that money fits into the wheel cover equation somewhere.

I know this about restraints, but on Sun, it had the dreaded "This Ride will Not Open Today" Sign. Does anyone know the real reason why? Is it dead for the rest of the year? And for weather related issues, it was the warmer day with a lot less wind too, so I don't think that's it. If it was for lower staffing, do you think they really would shut down Batman the Ride as a major roller coaster in that area of the park? So, I don't think that's the reason. My guess is motor / chain lift, but I really want to know the real reason. If it's the motor, could they take Iron Wolf's motor?
I personally like it that they have one with wheel covers, and the other one without because you could tell if both trains are working or not. Sure, it hardly ever happens when both trains aren't in operation, but there have been a couple times over the years I've seen it especially that CAD night they decided oh let's take one off because no one is going to be here. Sure...

Batman is down for maintenance. There was a train stopped on the lift around 12:30, then later on maintenance was looking at the lift motor. As for weather, anyone on here that was at the park on Mother's Day 2003 can tell you that Batman never goes down for cold or wind.
Figures, it's the motor on Batman the Ride. I could crawl faster than it was moving 2 weeks ago plus on Sat.

Yeah with one train having the guards and one of them not it's kind of like different color trains like Demon and RB have. I wish more rides in our park had those

Any updates? I would be shocked if Batman was out for good this season. We already have Wolf gone (I know it only served a couple folks but still) and if Batman did not reopen it would mean big crowd issues the last weekends the park is open in 2011.
The update is that it opened Friday night, but later. They must have just fixed it because they didn't even have a Flash Pass person for it. So, I don't know about Saturday - today. I know your not asking about East River Crawler, but that ride was broke again too, but I seen mechanics working on it at night - last night - shining a light on it. So, who knows if that will open or not? It's in the Fright Fest brochure - Kraken.

Really??? I could have sworn this ride had 3 trains, but only it's rookie year.
^ I'm sure Superman's opening crew from 2003 would disagree with your statement that Superman can't run 2 trains efficiently. Too bad that crew got split up after about 2 months, and capacity sucked ever since.
^ Supervisors can only see those timers when they are at the ride. Contrary to rumors, those timers aren't hooked up to any monitoring location. And in the case of Bull, its more effective for the supervisors to just watch where the trains are. For example on Bull with 3 trains, the train going up the lift should be entirely past the end of the Block Brake when the train ahead of it travels through the Block Brake.
