A man and woman had handed in their admission tickets and were in the line waiting to enter the main gate of Six Flags at 9:41 a.m. Sunday, according to Gurnee police.
All guests at the park pass through metal detectors. Upon approaching the detectors, the couple started looking very nervous and refused to go forward, police said. The man eventually jumped out of the line and went back toward the parking lot.
LOL... can you say STUPID? Thank god they caught this fool.
Candy: What you lookin' at? Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama. Candy: Yeah, you see something you like? Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
Im kind of concered what he was planning on doing with that gun espically since i was there and was probably just getting into the park as this was going on
I grew up with Six Flags Great America having the detectors, and now I'm happy we have them! Imagine if park employees told him to put the gun in a locker before he could ride anything!
I was surprised at Michigan's Adventure when they don't even check your bags or have detectors...
Now this story will make me paranoid about going to the park. Its until you pass through the gates and well into the park when you are truly safe. I mean theres no security in the lot so pretty much everyone is prone and vulnerable to injury or even worse...
^^^^ Your vulnerable in any open public area, it shouldn't make you surprised or scared. Props to the Six Flags security for actually noticing something was out of the ordinary and taking action, when they could have easily overlooked the situation and done nothing.
I was really young when the metal detectors were put in place. I remember the radio made it sound like they had a detector at every Queue...that or I was just young and dumb. And in my teenage years I was against them due to my "phase" of wearing a lot of metal stuff. But now, especially going into law enforcement, I absolutely love them. Props to all involved in this situation, and to the fact that this guy still hasn't been able to post bail.
I think the guy saw Mr. Six commercials one too many times.
I more stunned on the fact the person was stupid enough not to just calmly walk back to the car. Then again if one feels to need to pack heat at a Six Flags park that says a lot about the gun owner.

There is a security tower in the lot, and it's staffed if you look up there.
This guy is definitely a complete moron, however I'd say SFGAm's parking lot is no more or less dangerous than walking down a street, being in a city park, or being in any other public place. Same goes for all the parks with no metal detectors.

Oh yeah I know lol. I meant like cops are not in the lot. I know Im vulnerable in any area lol. There's always a cop car parked at the front of the park, but there's never anyone in the car to throw people off and freak em out! haha. Ive never seen a cop in that car, ever.
I had an interesting experience with a guy having a gun this past summer at Cedar Point. I worked Ripcord and Skyscraper which are in Challenge Park. Well since Challenge Park is not gated anyone can walk around that area to ride the rides. However, this really doesn't make a difference being that Cedar Point doesn't have metal detectors anyway. But I was adjusting this mans flight suit and when I was tightening his back strap I felt something stick out of his back right above his waist. To me, it sure as hell felt like a gun. So I called out on the flight line and told one of the guys out there to see if he could feel or see anything on his back. Sure enough, when they went prone the guys shirt went up and he said that he could see the gun. So we called security and they talked to the man after he got off the ride but we have no idea what happened to him. Scary thing is that we I was talking with them prior to them loading they said that they were in the park all day...kind of made me think after that. Especially being that Cedar Point attracts a lot of Detroit residents and we all know Detroit isn't exactly the easiest place to raise a family.
This is too funny!! LMAO! She got what she deserved. I wish I was there to see it. This has to be one of the funniest things Ive ever heard happen at the park!!
