Screamscape posted the rumor last night that Six Flags was getting rid of the parade at all parks. Someone asked on the official SF Great America facebook page if the parade was being removed to which they were told it was not (http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?s ... 1505353460) around 9 hours. Move forward to 3 hours ago and the official Six Flags chain twitter has stated the parade is a SF Mexico exclusive (http://twitter.com/SixFlags/status/24577454744014850)
Great to see the chain has no clue what they are doing anymore.
^Was a weird mix of Cirque style music, DC/WB characters and a poor man's Main Street Electrical Parade. For Six Flags it was the best parade I've seen them do, but compared to other parks is was average.
This winter the chain has gotten ride of almost every IP excluding DC comics and Warner Brothers cartoons (although The Great Escape lost WB stuff,) Glow in the Park Parades at every park that had them in the US and hours/operating days cut at every park. All this to pad the bottom line and help drive up that share price.
SFGAm will have the parade. I am unsure of why the corporate Twitter forgot but miscommunication from SF is fairly normal (also remember the press release that Dark Knight's construction had not been slowed down by weather and will open with the park, then later announced the ride was opening Memorial weekend).
Park News - (1/12/11) A bit more has come to light in the contrasting information from the Six Flags Twitter and Six Flags Great America. When I publicly posted a contradiction and question about how the official Six Flags Twitter had announced Glow in the Park was to be a Six Flags Mexico exclusive on the page, my comment has since been deleted and a new response from the park now posted saying that “I am 100% positive that Glow in the Park will be happening here. I can't exactly speak for all of the other parks.” So there you have it… as of right now the Glow in the Park parade is on the schedule for SFGAm for 2011. What concerns me most however is the obvious conflict and lack of communication we are starting to see between the parks and the corporate office.
Looks like we shall be having the Glow in the Park parade after all.
Actually judging on the park's past, you need to run the numbers through a translator. If the park is 100% sure of something, that translates to there is approximately a 47% chance of it actually happening.

I don't really care what happens with the parade, but I just want to old Six Flags back. The Six Flags I remember when I was a kid, AND the Six Flags I remember from the 2005 era (probably the most fun I ever had at the park). I am actually glad that they are getting rid of all the licensing for the new coasters. I never really liked them any way. It almost seems like everyone has gotten so used to the Shapiro era that now the changes that are happening now are scaring people. Yeah it sucks that I'll probably have to spend about $100+ or more extra on parking this year when I go to other parks but it's not the end of the world. I'm just glad that everything that I hated the company for in the last few years is going to be gone next season.
I know Screamscape isn't really a good reliable source but I managed to find this little bit of info that got me a little excited: "A new rumor sent my way claims that Six Flags Great America could be planning some kind of big nighttime blow-out show for the summer season, possibly to be some kind of Laser Show. Anyone know more?"
I'm hoping this site is right for once, because if this happens, I will definitely be going to the park a lot this summer!!

new night time show? That's obviously BS because Great America already confirmed Glow in the Park is back.
"I've been told that some part of every wish will be heard but lately I lost sight of the truth in those words."
That would be cool but I wouldn't get your hopes up. The best night show of any park I've been to has to be the World of Color at Disneyland. Now thats an amazing light show.
If SFGAm tried anything like world of color, it'd be an embarrassment. It'd be 2 guys in hip waders sitting in the middle of the reflection pond with garden hoses and flashlights. Stuff done in 1980's soviet union would put it to shame.

Well, back to the Ferris wheel concept that keeps floating to the top of popular thought, and glowing in the park, here is a really cool video of the latest in LED lighting for rides. Feel free to skip around the video, nothing really off the wall mind-blowing happens at any one point.
