I've searched the Six Flags site trying to find pricing on the Haunted Houses, but they're lacking information in that regard. Can anyone recall the cost of each Haunted attraction up-charge or provide a close guess? Is there a ticket package that includes all of the houses (This is my first visit)?
And since I'm at it asking questions... what is the crowd traditionally like on Fright Fest's opening night? It's a Saturday, so I'm expecting it to be busy, but hoping it's not as busy as the Saturday's closer to Halloween. Would a Flashpass be worth it? I can really only tolerate about 30-40mins of waiting for a ride tops. Will the waits be longer than that? I plan to hit up the low capacity coasters (Dark Night, Ragin' Cajun') first at park opening. Any other recommendations on a riding order if I should skip on paying extra for Flashpass?
We have a few of the same questions and are in a similar position, so I hope you don't mind me invading your topic a bit...
I'm going on Sunday for my first visit, as well, and would like some information regarding general crowd sizes and the most efficient order in which to ride the coasters (and other rides). I'd like to avoid using a flash pass.
Any other tips and must-do things that you have to share would be greatly appreciated, too. Thanks!
To answer some of your questionfor the haunted houses. They have a 5 dollar before 5 pm option. There is also a package that has all the haunted houses which I think was 15 dollars and a single ticket was 8. If those are wrong, I'm sorry. Crowds for opening day I don't know because I didn't go, I went closing day last year and it wasn't crowded at all.
The new SAW LIVE haunted house is going to be $13 to get in. (a little steep) . Also it appears MOA will also be $13. The other 2 walkthrough haunted attractions will be $5 each.
Here is a new article describing the new house and who is creating it.
I would have normally closed this topic since we have another one going on, but the haunted house prices are a legitimate question since the SF site doesn't have them shown..
Any other questions, you should click on the other Fright Fest topic for answers.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Don't know about the free for passholders for the cheaper walkthrough attractions, but I am sure they will have some kind of package deal to hit all the houses.

Haunted Attractions $13 - SAW LIVE $13 - Mausoleum of Terror $5 - Studio 13: Back Lot Horror Tour $5 - Studio 13: Area 51
A $25 Combo ticket includes all 4 haunted attractions. This is a savings of $11!
Early Haunt Special: $7 - SAW LIVE - must purchase and use by 5pm (not available on Friday nights) $7 - Mausoleum of Terror - must purchase and use by 5pm (not available on Friday nights)
Six flags has this posted on their facebook under the discussion tab
The closer you get to Halloween usually the more people will come to the park though first Saturday I don't know. That could be super crowded based on the people that have ants in their pants, and have to experience it already, and also considering the park hasn't been open to the public for a week. Though, Saturdays are probably the worst day to go as they are always the most crowded day during even the regular season. When the park is open the longest on a Saturday, I always expect it to be super crowded.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Chitown you think you are coaster and amusement park deprived. I havent been to the park in 379 days Thats a year and 2 weeks. If given a little time i might be able to pin point the exact hour minute and second ......but not milli or micro seconds afterall im not a fanatic. Mod edit: please use grammar and correct spelling.
dont waste your time. this year sucks. the price for houses is way too steep. youd think with the gte price theyd give you a break on admission to the houses. the actors are lame at best, decorations are weak. shouldnt have tried to do what someone else has been doing for them for the past few years. if i didnt have a season pass, i wouldve been complaining alot more to guest relations than i already did. dont waste your time or money. go to a real haunted house somewhere in the area. and "theming" a ride doesnt make the experience any better. its the same ride ive been riding all summer, only with decorations. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!
and the excuse of "its opening weekend" only goes so far. in years past it hasnt mattered. whether you went on day 1 or halloween, the actors always came correct. accept the fact that the noobs have taken over. and covering yourselves in blood doesnt make it scarier. the act needs to be there. cover mickey mouse in blood and hes still mickey mouse. now make him act like a zombie and its a different character completely. these actors need to learn how to act, or hire people that know how to.
The ONLY thing that has changed is JPM is not providing the characters. Six Flags always decorated the park and JPM has had no involvement in that. From what I recalled the trolls were never scary and Mayor Slayer took pictures most of the time.
WhitelikeRice... the fact that you have only been a member of the boards since september and all of your 10 posts have been negative about the park tells me that you have probably worked for JPM, if not, then probably a fan of theirs. Did you even look around the park? There are more decorations up then there have ever been, the areas are all actually themed to something, there are actors in every area...more than JPM supplied. JPM was never responsible for any of the park decorations, houses or themes...all they ever did was provide people and costumes...and for the record The character Mayor Slayer is a trademark of Six Flags, that's why he is on the signs.
The fact is that Six Flags took on a lot this year for fright fest...from what I've seen there are about 3 to 5 actors per area, then all of the house and walk through actors. That means all costumes, makeup, decorations, ideas, and labor came from in house, on top of that they added 2 new shows to the park this year (SAW was a third party installment, not in house). That is really impressive! Yes, not all of the actors are scary, but not everybody wants to be scared. What matters more is that people are entertained. Six Flags will never be the terror capital of northern Illinois, but they are certainly holding their own. This is their first year doing it in house, give them a break. They are doing a lot of things well and yes of course their is room for improvement in the future.
IMHO Six Flags is going a good job with the massive undertaking of this fright fest and if people aren't afraid of change then there is a lot that the park offers. Just set aside your bias and look at it fresh and new.
1) i have never worked for jpm, though i tried to get a job many years ago, but they had all roles filled. 2) i have been posting since september because thats when i found this forum. i had heard there were going to be changes for fright fest, and wanted to know more, so i jumped on here. sorry, im not some loser who had posted 2 million times whose life revolves around the park and bragging about how many times i rode this ride or that one. 3) this forum is exactly that, a forum. a place for people to voice their opinions, positive or negative. i have voiced mine and all i get is crap from you people for doing so. i voice my opinions and disappointment because when everything is so hyped and supposed to be so good, when you actually experience it and its sub par, it is a letdown. honestly if you dont like what someone has to say, dont read their posts, dont respond, dont treat people like they are lower than you because you dont like what they have to say. you know what they say about opinions and what they are like, and how everyones got one. quit being the comparison to an opinion. i will continue to post, positive or negative. its my right as a member of this forum. i am entertained by the park, i wouldnt have a seaon pass every year if i wasnt. but i am very disappointed with the park this year, im sorry. and im not the only one from what ive read here and on other forums. i work hard for my money, and hate to see it wasted on something that is supposed to be so good. and when my children are complaining that they are bored and want to go home, well there is something definetly wrong. if you cant keep a child happy, how do you expect to keep an adult happy?
Director_Guy wrote:^^Well said, but you should also understand the bitter betrayal that is felt throughout JPM.
I haven't worked for them for two years and I still feel betrayed. Maybe not by the park itself but at least by Six Flags.
I could understand the betrayal if Six Flags went with another outside company that is competition to JPM, but since they decided to do it in-house, I don't see how JPM would feel that way. It was obviously cheaper to do it in-house.

I was wondering since I am not going if anyone can tell me what rides have been changed over their scary modes. Obviously Chubasco is Terror Twister but what else have they changed over and what are the songs for Terror Twister? and are there more fog machines like in 2005 now that was a fright fest it was spectacular. I will never forget Elvira's Superstition!!!
Ok I was reading some of the posts in this topic and heard the whole DEMON SONG can the moderator of this room please email me a file of something i would love to have this in my collection please get back to me regarding this topic.
If you have Firefox as your browser, install the "DownloadHelper" as a Firefox add-on. You will see the symbol for it after installation in your top toolbar. It automatically detects what can be downloaded which in this case it recognizes the mp3 file for this music.

Terror Twister 2: A turn for the Worse The Pit and the Pendulum (Revolution) Rue Le Morgue (Dodge) The Birds (Condor) Bloodbath (Chaos) The Reactor Core (Fun Machine) NEW for 2010 Swamp Thing (Whizzer) Ricoslay Demon with Special Theming
I think they added one or two tidbits to Fiddler's Fling, Iron Wolf, East River Crawler, etc, but not nearly as much as previous years. Not really necessary though, the transformed rides have gotten MUCH better in the past few years, you can really tell whoever is in charge of them really puts thought into them rather then just thowing snakes up to the rafters of Viper like they used to. Fun Machine looks great this year, Bloodbath, Swamp Thing that were new last year look great, and I can't fail to mention the awesomeness of terror twister. This is really something you don't see at many other parks so a quick BRAVO, this really helps make the event what it is.
