Yep, MM's waterpark is right next to the theme park, and that's why they don't run Flashback.

Does anyone else think that they should come up with an original name for our waterpark? I mean, Great America is all about American heritage, and Hurricane Harbor does nothing for that theme. They really, in my opinion, need to create an America-themed waterpark.
^ That might be nice. Plus Hurricane Harbor sounds like Yankee Harbor. On the other hand, SF may want all of their water parks under the same name.
I dont know where they could stick it because on one day I was there the entire lot and most of overfill parking was filled. They cant lose any of that parking space. Also, the waterpark will only mean more people thus even more parking needed. That grassy area where part of shockwave currently sits next to SM looks like a good location for more parking or the water park though. What I want to know is what do they mean by:
"There will be a exciting and huge addition in New Jersey" I know its not our park but that sounds promising to be a mega coaster perhaps topping TTD in stats. The idea of a six flag park hosting the largest or fastest coaster in the world is definitly good news plus they might decide to put one in one of their "premiere" parks like say, i dunno, SFGAM! Unless you pass out from lack of oxygen, the first drop isn't tall enough

Most likely behind Raging Bull and next to American Eagles large helix. I don't really know where, but that seems the logical place. GAm doesn't build anything taller than Sky Trek Tower.
Here is a cool idea, but I doubt that it will ever happen. What if they put they water park inside Eagle's helix? They have all of those wires in there so it won't happen, fun idea though.
Not because the wires, because it's not NEARLY big enough.

the area inside the Helix isnt even big enough to accomdate any decent size water slide much less than a waterpark. Anyways, with 35 million dollars you can big a very decent size waterpark. With this in mind what kind of rides would you people like to see in this waterpark
Well I was talking with my father, and he said that you can't pour concrete in the winter. So if you can't pour concrete you can't make any of the pools or anything. I'm thinking they'll start construction soon. Then stop during the winter and start up again early spring. I don't think they'll be done. I think they did the same thing with Mardi Gras and it opened a little late. I'm this would mean the same for the water park, but I could be completly wrong to.

Which area of land is being surveyed? And Vocallaugh, Mardi Gras seemed to be more of a last minute decision to build. Yes, contruction should start in the fall and then continue late winter.(Or at least that's what I believe.)
On the other hand, Timmy, there are also three waterparks in this nation that are owned by Six Flags which are NOT called Hurricane Harbor, so I'm holding out hope that they will be wise in the design on this park.
... Speaking of which, an addition of this size is HUGE. It makes me wonder how long Six Flags has been designing this park. Because, honestly, to figure out all the infastructure (water, power, security, guest amenities, etc.) is MUCH more time consumming than adding to an already established park (like they did with Mardi Gras). I wouldn't be surprised if this has been in the works for well over a year... we're just hearing about it because they've now finalized the plans.

It possibly could, but it really depends on whether it will be included with park addmission.
The problem with the Mardi Gras area is that they had to tear down the concrete and put brand new rides there. This supposedly would be outside the park and thus they could just fence the area off to the public. I wouldn't be surprised if they start in September.
I don't know, but it seems that building a waterslide would be easier to build than rollercoaster supports and track. I know that there are probably more things than a waterslide though. These are things that I assume the park will include.
1. Wave pool 2. Lazy river 3. tube slide complex 4. Body slide complex with speed slides 5. Kid's play complex and/or kiddie pool 6. family raft ride 7. Extreme water attraction It should also have changing facilties, first aid, restaurant, gift shop, and maybe an arcade.
It's a waterpark. It's not going to open in the begining of May anyways. Late May, all of June and July, and the first few weeks in August is when I expect it to operate.
I personally am sooo freaking excited!! We go out to Kalahari and Great Wolf at least 3 or 4 times a year for the waterparks so what could be better then going to a waterpark, pulling on t-shirt and jeans and walking to roller coasters!! Oh I am in heaven!
SF should do other things with there money....Arent they already about to go bankrupt??
The money is coming from there former park (Six Flags Worlds of Adventure) that was just sold to Cedar Fair's park this year.
This sounds awesome! I was wondering how many more years would go by before we got a waterpark. Until now, Great America is the last 'big' Six Flags park without one.
All of this news sounds promising about Six Flags paying even more attention to GAm than they already have. I think they know how much potential our park has, and by the sounds of the conference call, attendence (besides May) is doing quite well.
On a side note, I also think the most logical place for a waterpark would be in the bus lot near Bull and Eagle's helix. Finally Coaster Season!!
Well first off, they don't release what specifically they do with that capital, they said to pay off debts and other stuff.. Also, water parks are very, very profitable. Although i'm not a huge fan of visiting one in Gurnee, they are becoming popular like amusement parks. Pretty much every significant park has one in the US, so it doesn't surprise me at all that GAm is getting one (they were due).
Actually, I'd take a bet and say that your way off by saying that this money is coming from the sale of WOA. In the conference call they mentioned that they would not see profits from the waterpark till 06.
And did you ever think that MAYBE the 12 million they got from the previous waterpark plans may just pay for a little chunk of this? Around the world and back
I think in the conference call, they mentioned that the sale of SfWoa helped pay off some of the debt.
