^It's starting to sound like they really are trying to match the theme to the actual ride experience. Marketing a very painful ride. Yup, folks, Six Flags "went there."
How true... it was a fight for survival on Iron Wolf. I would usually do one ride a year - sometimes two. If I did it a second time, I was usually thinking "was that really that bad?" And it always was. As the years went one, I would always think to myself "nahhh... can't be that bad, it's been a whole year."
It's kinda like the time (only time) I rode Son Of Beast 3 times in row. The second time was really bad, the third time (alone - my friend wouldn't do it again) it was a definitely "yeah, it really is that bad!" The difference between SOB and IW is that I think my back actually got hurt on SOB. It was unreal rough. Nice loop, though!

At least you were one who got to ride SOB with the loop.

Yep. Rode it from year 1 until it left. Waited almost an hour to ride, at least, back in the day. The ride was smooth and enjoyable back then. It really aged terribly.
I was just checking out a SF America fan site and it looks as if they painted the supports for Apocalypse. The new station looks very similar to that of X-flight. http://www.sfafans.com

An hour?
Damn, I remember back in the day in 89 - 90 waiting 4 hours to ride it.
I still liked the ride, and if you positioned yourself right, didn't hurt at all.
I know you SHOULDN'T have to position yourself, but still. I dug that ride...

Yeah, I would never wait 4 hours for any ride, which is why I don't remember waiting much more than an hour or so.
I remember waiting 45 minutes for Tidal Wave, and hour or more for Demon and Eagle. The Edge was the first time I ever saw a park handing out tickets to keep your place it line. As a kid, I usually got to go to the park once a year; always on a summer Saturday. Just the way it was Ahh... memories of Whizzer's headlights and tail lights, some shining bright - some burnt out

Unfortunately, on a Saturday and you only go once a season, maybe as a teen? I had to wait
I'll more then likely not wait for X Flight more then 1 hour, and even then only once a trip, and just use my exit pass to ride it...
I was not knocking you at all. Sorry if I came off as harsh. I should have added that i wouldn't wait 4 hours for a ride because I lived literally 5 minutes from the park at the time, as a teen, so I of course had a season pass and practically lived at SFGAm in the summer, so we could be choosy about waits. Still only live 15 minutes away, so it's nice.

Didn't take it as such, no biggie
I was only able to go once a season or so, so I did what I needed to do to get my fix in. I also was terried of roller coasters and stuff like that until I was 15, so I have been making up for my humble beginnings so to speak in roller coasters and daredevilrey ever since
I have to admit, I like the orange rails/ties, but I can't imagine the paint lasting too long before it peels off..Hopefully not to the extent of our BTR from years ago, if anyone remembers that..
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
It's clear that they really smoothed it out, but people still noted that it's not butter-smooth. This COULD be a warning sign for the future, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I never thought that Iron Wolf wasn't smooth as in the way it moves. The main problem with Iron Wolf was right after the corkscrew. Punching bag, unless you moved your head to avoid it. Now if they just repainted trains, it's still going to be that punching bag that everyone has experienced at least once on Iron Wolf. If the harnesses are the same as they were with Iron Wolf the last few years, those harnesses were much more painful than the older ones they had. Maybe, they changed those harnesses to be softer, but I doubt it. The reason why they sent that ride to that park is because they know that's not a great park to begin with.
Now, if you are a Six Flags America fan, you are probably ecstatic because finally they get another coaster, and it's a B&M. I doubt the hardcore fanboy enthusiasts are going to complain about it being terrible. They will be like, I'm glad we got something. They haven't got a coaster in 11 years, and they took 1 way - an Invertigo coaster. I liked Iron Wolf, but in order to not be punching bag, you need to employ some strategy to ride it, and I'm sure SFA doesn't have a sign saying after the Corkscrew, make sure you lean your head forward. The GP are going to ride it once, and boom... that hurt. They might ride it again, and boom... that hurt. Than, they will probably stop riding it.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
That's why it seems like a terrible business decision not to buy some new trains and make this coaster ride like it did when it opened in 1990. Six Flags half a$$ way of doing things.
From the videos I've seen, they at least got smart and boarded on the opposite side from GAm. That was always a pain considering the way the line for front row was set-up. It will be interesting to see if their ride team can get the loading/dispatch times to be more fluid than we had them. That's the one thing I hated about working that ride......guests that were totally oblivious to what you were trying to tell them haha
^I think the real problem in regards to front row was with the Flash Pass messing it up. Before they introduced the Flash Pass, they had one side was Front Row (that left side), and the other side (right side which became Flash Pass) was the other rows. I think there had to be something they could have done better such as maybe widening the stairs & adding another rail of separation, but it would require more money.
I think the problem with keeping the station they have right now is how many coasters have 7 rows, and again it's still going to be the same mess for flash pass / front row / other rows unless they do something differently with the stairs. A ride it might work for is a Euro Fighter or something like Rip Ride Rocket (which I hope not), but than obviously they would get rid of all those rows. _______________
If you really want to see how Iron Wolf is really not so different at Six Flags America as in the ride experience, watch this media video of the lady. Look for the video at 8am. You can see she looks happy at the beginning of the ride, but than you see after the Corkscrew, she looks like she had been punched in the face. Her expression at the very end of the ride, is like wow that was rough. Also, I like how they don't show their faces getting knocked around after the corkscrew. They are showing the track instead. They also cut out the sound of them on the ride. Just have random music playing.

I don't know if anyone else noticed the color they painted apocalypse. Is the color on top of the station still at our park. Or am I just imaging things? Orange and gray on top of the station.
