actually i am starting to personally get a little annoyed with people obsessing over shockwave... it was a nice coaster, and i was disappointed to see it go, but people are taking it too far i think...
Shockwave was a classic looper? Wow, the term classic is being used very liberally. I'd call Shockwave a blooper from the 80s. A classic looper would be something like Scorpion at BGT or Demon. Fun rides, to the point, and not painful. Shockwave, on the other hand, was a feat of modern engineering of the 80s... which in the coaster industry, really wasn't impressive, especially if it was done by Arrow. They took technlogy which was working well for the smaller loopers of the 70s (like Demon) and made it too big.Corey is right. People are obsessing over this ride. When it was around, people would complain that it sucked and was too painful. Make up your minds, and if you decide you did like it, move to New Jersey and ride the big red version, or California and ride the bigger red version. Just stop complaining that SF shouldn't have torn it down because it was a good ride, when 12 months ago at this time you were probably saying the ride sucks.
To let you all know I was complementing on his site and stating my opinion on Shock Wave, I never once complained about Shock Wave whn it was open and Im not complaining tht its down.
Did anyone point a finger at you? I'm basically pointing my finger at almost the whole entire enthusiast community. It is almost like Drachen Fire. It closed because it was unpopular and suposedly painful. Shockwave was unpopular and somewhat painful at times. People used to always complain about it. Now that it's gone, just like Drachen Fire, people say they loved it and want it back.
Well if you look at it this way, you are always going to have a coaster that appeals to a certain type of people. No matter what, when you take it away this part of the crowd is going to be disappointed. It's sad to see any coaster go, but I was never on SW so I can't really relate to anyone other than that I really like Arrow rides.
I am 6' 4" and I found Shockwave very uncomfortable when someone else was riding with me, but I will miss the headaches I had afterward. If I find myself missing it to much I will take a trip to Kings Island and ride Vortex.
Life is too short not to be drop 200 feet at 72 mph

'Nope, its staying with us for another season, It will remain on the small hill next to the employee parking lot. Now lets just hope if it doesn't find a home it won't be scrapped
Yeah we wouldn't want it to suffer the fate of Drachen Fire! I would really like to ride Shockwave at another park... preferably somewhere close to my house!
I myself could care less if it joins Drachen Fire or not. If I really want to ride a simmilar coaster, I'll run my head into a door a few times or goto New Jersey. So I myself hope it doesn't find another home.
T_Biggs how could you wish this type of fate to any coaster? Even if Shock Wave was bumpy, it could be fixed up a little bit to make it a great ride again.
I can say it because I don't enjoy all coasters. Two (or three) that I didn't are Shockwave and Gwazi. I have no interest in riding Gwazi again, even if I have the opportunity. And Shockwave, it had about 9 years to prove itself to me that it can give a consistant ride. The only consistant thing about it is its inconsitant. Anyways, it was just a stupid ride from the 80s. Everything from the 80s sucked. Even that 80s show!By the way, don't abuse the quoting ability. Next time I wont change it, I'll just take the easy way.
What, coasters don't have feelings?! lol Actually, I can see where you are coming from though. It doesn't matter the coaster, any coaster loss is a loss to all of mankind and that can be very upsetting. *sob, sob*
