Iron Wolf Last Rides/Removal Thread

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I see that the website is back to its blue theme and the tribute to Iron Wolf at the top of the page is gone. THe regular collage of all the rides is back on. Obviously. just wanted to point that out.

has deconstruction started for iron wolf yet it'd be nice to see some pics like when they took down shockwave and all that was left during fright fest was the lift and loop

I won't be at the park again until Fright Fest, so I won't be able to see Iron Wolf again from inside the park. It would be appreciated if people could post some pictures of the deconstruction. Thanks.

Well, I am going by there tomorrow, and yes it can be seen from 21. I'm good.
Oh, and just a quick fun fact, when going on Washington Street near Cemetery Rd., Iron Wolf can be seen behind the Raging Bull. :)

I just came back from the park today and the only thing that has been removed from Wolf so far is the trains and the lights/lampposts that used to be on the lift hill. There is a very sad and erie silence as you pass through that section of countyfair :( . You are already missed Wolfie :( .

I would try and sneak a candle and/or some flowers into the park and place them in front of IW queue. Just a little tribute to IW.

That last image was not really sad, but kind of eerie. I want to miss the ride, but I don't have one good memory on it. I just have to imagine something better to replace it.

LOL That last image has been WAY overdue. So I guess nothing major going on as far as removal until the park closes Saturday before Fright Fest. I would take the signage down. U know a ride is gone when there is no name of it anywhere. I bet most still think it will reopen ot is just "down".

WOW those last 2 images were a bit creepy bit sad at the same time. I honestly kinda felt like our park is closing for good. But thats sad its gone. When I go to Frightfest, I want to see how quiet it is by IW, if it is even quiet considering its Fright Fest and I will probably hear plenty of screaming.

Has anyone seen any people walking up to IW and looking confused or wondered why IW is closed or didn't know that they are taking IW out??

Now that I don't like. Hopefully they won't have to take down too many.

The one thing I loved about Iron Wolf is how the trees have grown up with the ride. I really hope they don't take down every tree when they replace it with a new ride, because that really does ruin the atmosphere of that part of the park. Plus, the storage units behind Iron Wolf are butt ugly :|

Yeah scenery and environment are definitely a huge part of a coaster. I mean I don't remember because I was too young but didn't Superman: UF open and there was nothing but dirt and gravel everywhere? No grass or trees, etc? Well they gotta do what they gotta do but if anything, they can just take out the tress and bushes that were there and just replant them in a temporary location. Then once everything there is constructed again, then re-plant the old trees. Simple as that. :)

I think they had more incentive to plant trees when IW was being filmed for the movie Richie Rich.

Not only was Iron Wolf in the movie for like 25 seconds but it was not live footage that was filmed while at the park. It looked like they pulled old footage from the ride through the computer and stuck it in the film.

I seem to remember that the studio that produced Richie Rich put a lot of money into landscaping and planted most of the trees. When it opened it was literally a flat grassy field.

Any tree with a pink ribbon on it that you could see on it's last day will be removed (there were a bunch, but by no means should be a clear cut)

This is the footage of Iron Wolfs last day. There a bunch of ACERs there supposedly. I can see what people are talking about now. Maybe some of you are in this vid? The employees were the last ones to ride it so none of us got the last ride...thank God!! Theres also tiny bit of footage of AE blue taking off backwards and a bit of SWF area.
