yeah. I'm also going 10/9/04 with mr deja vu for my birthday. Me, mr deja vu, my family, and 1or 2 other of my friends will go. I am also bringing my camera so mr deja vu will not be the only one taking pictures.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu
It's not that early, it's late september, ff starts oct 9th, and the park is closed, what better time to decorate. Plus, how long do you think it'll take to decorate the park? It'll take a long time, even with a full crew (Which they don't have) it would take two weeks.
What were some of the characters like before 2001? they all seme to be the same now, but I remember in 2000 there were a ton of characters in the entrance are. Spme were vampires and stuff. Do you guys know what any of the old characters were and where they were?
Wasnt brutal planet all an alien area? I heard that one year they turned all of necropolis into brutal planet and it had an alien theme and some other theme about a virus or somthing. Anyone want to sheare the details?
I think this year six flags is going to spend a ton on decorations and do a really good job. The company as a whole is spending more on making the parks look god, and on http://www.amusementpics.com you can see that they are doing a really good job decorating gadv.
Well, from what i've heard gadv and OT, are there big Fright Fest Parks. But we have a good one too! I really don't remember any old chracters. 2000 is really my first year remembering fright fest...
In 2000 I remember that the vampires were in the front of the park by the carousel. Spike was who I called "the garbage can man" because he always sat on a garbage can or would kick it when people walked by so it would scare everyone. As of last year he is still doing Fright Fest too! He is awesome! Brutal Planet was either 1999 or 2000 and I loved it! Some people said that it was weak but if I remember correctly I thought that the haunted house was even darker then Maus. I can't complain about Maus though I love them both!!

I remember that guy. He was really good at scaring people. I remember walking by him because I thought he was just a guest wearing gothic clothes, then out of nowhere "bam!" scared the crap out of me. I wish that they would have creatures at the begining of the park again.
Hey I just got this link to a haunted house company and I think that they are the ones who supply some of six flags' 3d haunted houses. http://www.halloweenproductions.com . It lists all of their theme options, and it list some 3d haunted houses tey made and their prices. In that list are sleepy hollow 3d, and terrorvisions 3d from sfne. It also has some really awesome videos. The second one is huge and takes a while to load though, and the first one isnt worth downloading because its just the company president giving an intro and telling you they can build haunted houses in 4 days.
it also says somewhere on the site that they have built haunted houses for kennywood, six flags, busch gardens, paramount parks, sea world, madison square garden, and cedar point.
If you want a heads up of where things are this year, and what to expect:
On weekends, early in the day, there will be oversized puppet creatures at the carosel plaza.
Starting around Noon until parade time you should be able to find lots of other characters ==>
NewOrleans: Vampires and Werewolves
MardiGras (new second part of NewOrleans): Evil Clowns
Picnic Grove: Necropolis-City of the Dead plus haunted house "Mausolum of Terror" and the Freak Show
Cartoon Network and Kids Camp: Fairys and Kings and Princesses, plus cartoon characters
Hometown Square: Dead Singer music (tentative)
the crossroads between Hometown, Southwest, and County Fair: Trolls!
Soutwest Territory: Dead cowboys and the 3d Haunted House: Sleepy Hollow
Train: Scooby Doo and the mystery of the Ruby Cane.
I don't remember a train show about the pig man (but I've seen and forgotten a few train shows over the last 10 years), but for those earlier posts asking about previous train shows, here are the ones I do remember:
There was a Fugitive themed show (as in the Harrison Ford movie)
a PT Scarum for Mayor show (clowns)
A Bram Stoker's Dracula show.
The Ed Wood movie set show
There were others, but those stand out for me. The headless horsman is usually just one bit on the the ride, if at all.
Last year the Trolls did more than just "count farts". They did daily 'sacrifices' of gory blood filled stuffed animals on their large tree stump altar of destruction. They even broke their mallet and dulled two machetes last season.
In daylight, Trolls are sort of docil and camera friendly. In the dark, they can be much more frightening. Lurking in the shadows, jumping out at guests, many guests will simply avoid the troll bridge at night.
Look for the freak show in Necropolis, which should be all new since last year. Also, the scariest stuff is usually reserved for the picnic grove (Necropolis, which I believe has been posted with 'rated R' signs in recent years) and just expect less frightfull experiences in the other themed areas of the park (they have to have a clear path to get kids into yukon territory without soiling their diapers...)
There were two sets of twins in the past. The men crossed dressed in the huge costumes were part of the theming in County Fair years ago.
The twins girls were real twins. They were meant to make you think of The Shining, and they were really good at it. Sadly, they graduated college, married their men, and left town to build their lives without Fright Fest.
Fright Fest is a living changing thing. It has seen many actors and characters come and go over the last 14 years in Gurnee. Some years ARE better than others. It all depends on so many things: The people who work the show, and their abilities, the desires of the Park itself, the budget of the show, and even the guests. It is very difficult for an actor to get down on a knee and take a picture with baby in a stroller when there is always the threat of a teenager stalking behind him waiting to kick him in the head. If the guests are having a great day, the actors can feed on that and give it back. If the guests are being rude and terrible, it can be reflected in the performances.
For those of you who want all the areas to be scarier, please, heed the previous posts and tell guest relations at the park what you want.
This show is a huge undertaking, and the park starts planning for it as early as February each year. September is usually too late to change things for them, but if you are heard this season, you can help change next season.
As far as I can tell, there will be no halloween characters in County Fair this year. Last year that was home to the evil clowns, but this year they are moved to the Mardi Gras area. It may still get themed decorations and music, but I don't think you will encounter monsters there.
And without sounding Rude Ruk, we can read. The link to JPM's website with the creature list hours etc.. has been posted multiple times. (I know because i did it). And things do change in september. Recently many characters have been added and subtracted to JPM's creture list. and, just as an example in HHN down in Florida, they had to go a completly different directrion for HHN 2001 after Sept. 11th, because their Icon looked like he'd been in a car crash. An image they didn't want to display.
So, (Once again, I don't mean to sound rude), please read all previous posts, I know it's an 8 page topic, but sorry.
Without sounding rude, that was rude. We all know there are previous posts that state pretty much the same thing but it's just a post and it was very informative. Can't fault him for wnating to promote a little bit. No real need to make someone feel bad/stupid like that. I certainly wouldn't want to read through every single post when there are 9 pages. Sounds like Ruk knows quite a bit about FF, wonder who he is.....

Ruk is Ruk, come see him on the Troll bridge this season. He's the short Troll.
Seriously, I've been with Fright Fest for 10 of the last 11 seasons (took 1999 off). I've had roles in the Mausoleum, Clowns, Trolls, Leads, and the office backstage.
I recapped what I knew as current information, haveing only skimmed the previous 7 pages that day, and when my information prompted another user's question, I answered him, rather than tell him or her to go read the past. So, my info may or may not be redundant with past posts, but it was current, and topical to the questions I saw on page 8.
I found this forum yesterday, and I think it is wonderful that so many of you are looking forward to this season.
So now I have a name of one of the trolls?? Cool! I'll stop by and say hi!! Awesome job! My nephew espically loves the idiot box idea. No matter how many times I go to FF I still get goosebumps when I see you guys there on the bridge. I really, really try to not make eye contact becuase if I do I am in trouble
