perseus the hero wrote:^Just because they don't spend it all in one place doesn't mean they don't have the most. They want to go to great america more than once. Of course they are going to buy a season pass, they aren't going to buy a ticket each time. Yes, families as a whole may spend more at great america, but they don't want to keep out teens.
I was just in Olive Garden, and a family came from the park. They had bought season passes, and they did go out for lunch. The park charges to much money for anything food related. If they charged less, more people would buy things from the park. Drinks in the vending machines are $3.00, and $3.50 for goodness sakes. Mcdonald's charges a $1.50 (medium) with refils on top of it. Why couldn't they just lower them to $2.00??
They have family season passes for a reason. It's sad that we are the only park that has to endure this. All the other parks have just season passes, and not family. In other words, they have cheaper passes.
This is the formula for debt to Six Flags.
Debt=low attendance+some bad (as in rough) rides that cost too much money+bought too many poor performing parks (Oklahoma, Six Flags Ohio, Europe Parks, Darien Lake, Wild Waves, Car Park in Florida, Elitch Gardens, and so on)+poor running parks that are too small+Magic M
ountain selling season passes for $60.00+Magic Mountain getting a 8 coasters in 10 years+exploding the big parks and forgetting about the little parks
Debt!=teens not spending enough money
No one can account for all that money they wasted.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Woodland, I'm 19 and I spend 50 dollars a visit, on average at the park.
Also, disposable income means income that isn't used on rent, bills, or living costs. Teens have the most disposable income because most have no bills to pay; it doesn't mean they have more money, just that they have less things they have to spend it on.
^I am aware of what disposable income is, and there is still no way a teenager has more of it than his parents. It may be posssible that the teen chooses to spend more of it than his parents, but no way does he have more of it.
Fact is unless a teenager has an extrodinarily well paying job, he probably doesn't have that much money at all, and if he's going to college then chances are he has very little to no money at all! I guess it can depend whether or not his parents are going to give him money to spend at that park.
And how exactly do you spend $50 each time you to go Six Flags? Thats incredible. I wish I had that kind of disposable income.

Okay, parents have more discretionary income. It's term entirely different than disposable income.
And I'm able to spend that much because I have a good-paying job. I budget my money, pay my own rent and bills, and use the rest for my own needs and wishes. (That's an example of discretionary income.)
Kids who get allowance and spend all of it on say the movie theatre or whatever, that is disposable income.
On another note, I'd say that in the past four years, I've spent about 5,000 dollars at Six Flags. I buy myself and usually some of my friends season passes, parking passes, etc; while act the park I sometimes purchase Flash Passes, I like to pick up a view things I see in the shops if I like them, I have this weird fetish for the candy in their gift shops for some reason and that can run up a lot of money . I also like to purchase food if I'm hungry or my friends are. I don't usually buy meals, but I'll buy drinks, cheese fries, Dippin' Dots, etc. In short I just like to buy people things. It's a weird habit I've had, that I'm sure Six Flags in some small way appreciates.
Okay yup parents have a lot of disposable income but who force them to dispose it and use it to go to Six Flags guess who teenagers. So their not that bad for the park. Back to the topic Ill make V2's train a flying one like Superman and make Batman a launch coaster could you imagine how scary and fun that would be.
A teenager has little to no disposable income at all, they eat outside of the park and purchase season passes and rarely play games. Blue side was going to be changed before any takeovers of the company happened, so don't think it's Shapiro's thinking anyway. Fact is they shouldn't be catering to teenagers anymore because thats what brought them this tremendous debt in the first place.
I wouldn't necessarily blame it all on teenagers, I would blame the debt on the idea of catering to only one type of visitors. They used to only cater to teens and now they only cater to families, no compromise will result in no business, I guarantee this!
Back on topic, I would also like to modify SUF's train so that when your on the brake run at the end of the ride, you aren't in the flying position, because that can become sort of uncomfortable after a while.

Either keep the restraints the way they are and don't slant the seat, or keep the seat slanted and adjust the harnesses to that angle. Either way, something just doesn't sit right on those vehicles.
i know what you mean, back row on demon my knees come up so high and i twist a little on the drop, i have to reposition myself before the loops.
