In my opinion on this topic, SFGAm doesn't need a floorless, but
it could benefit from one. I understand the whole thing about
Employees and such, but that can all be changed.
When I went to SFMM in 2003, Scream! became my #2 favorite
coaster, just behind X (#1) and in front of Raging Bull (#3). I am
a fan of the B&M Floorless coaster. It gave me that feeling of being
on a F-18 Fighter Jet. Especially in the front row. You don't see any
part the train, you just see track.
As far as my comment of SFGAm Benefiting from a floorless. First off
Originality. A comment was made earlier in this forum about SFGAm
being a park of Originals other than SUF. All I say is, what would make
you think that SFGAm wouldn't build an original Floorless? And not a
copy? If SFGAm announced that they were building an Original Design for
a floorless with a new inversion and such, that would be great!
Second, how would GAm benefit from a Floorless? Well, if they built an
original Floorless Coaster with new inversions or a record breaker, it is possible that enthusiests from all over the US would come to SFGAm to ride it. We could then be recognized as one of the best parks in the Nation. Even though we usually have the "Firsts" we don't get recognized.
You don't see any of our coasters on the Coaster Shows on TV. I would
love to see us become more recognized.
If they built a "Record Breaking" floorless, they could be come a solid
contender with Cedar Point, get more recognition, and overall, they will
get better financially, cause of the ticket and Merch sales. SFGAm does
need to build a coaster(s) that would spark people's interest even more
to come to our park.
Well, I hope you understand what I have said. So overall, does SFGAm
need a Floorless? No. Could they benefit from one? Yes!

Everyone on this site seems to love RB. Why wouldn't anyone want a RB type coaster with inversions. I think it would be a great addition to the park and it would get our inversion count back up to the point before we lost Shockwave.
I don't know that we have room for a record breaking floorless, but I think we do have room for 6+ inversions on a decent sized coaster. I feel it would just make the park more well rounded. look at Holiday World, they build nothing but wood coasters, yet they're featured on coaster shows and bring in at least a few out of area people.
sure, a never before seen coaster is guaranteed to bring in people, but so can a well designed existing coaster.
as for having RB with inversions, every time I look at the turn into the MCBR I imagine the track flipping all the way over and forming a dive loop and I just can't wait for GAm to get a sit-down mega looper.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.
To tell you the truth we have one of the best coaster selections in the world, If they were too add a floorless it would not make as much of an inpact as something new and creative. The park got to where it is by taking risk, who knows maybe they have somethign new in the owrks or maybe they dont. Do I want a floorless....thats an eh....Do we need a floorless, no. Do we even need a new coaster at the present time no. And just because Six Flags builds alot of floorless does not mean we are getting one, you can't forget we are not ran like all Six flags parks our park is whole different styles and hates buiklding clones. If only premier parks didnt own Six Flags we would have inovative/ custom rides instead of V2, DejaVu, and Superman.

We Have room for just about anything. We have no space problems whatsoever! The only thing we probably couldn't do is add another SWT type addition. But with the waterpark this year and mardi gras/revy/stargate last year, we probably won't even see a new attraction (Coaster or not) until '07.
But I do think a floorless would be a wonderfull addition to our collection of rides.
While I've yet to ride a Floorless, I wouldn't mind a regular B&M sitdown looper. I thought Kumba at BGT was awesome, and really wouldn't mind seeing a ride like it here. I always did like the floorless concept though, and would love to try one out.
Of course, what I would really love is a mega-twisted woodie like Roar.
Have any of you actually "been" on a floorless before? The GP would know the difference between a 200ft. non-looping coaster compared to a 140ft. multi-inversion coaster regardless if it was floorless or not. Also "Why do we need a 4D?". A large people mover multi-inversion coaster (whether or not it's floorless/inverted/sit-down etc.) seems like an addition that makes the most sence rather than a prototype that is plagued with downtime just like another coaster we have in the park.

Too me, i think many people just want SFGAM to have all 4 types of B&M at the park, kinda stupid if you ask me, 95% of the population wouldnt know the difference anyway. Which is why what makes the idea of a floorless coaster concept so orgasmic to some of you people?
Binks Drake wrote:We Have room for just about anything. We have no space problems whatsoever!
I never said we had a space problem. I do believe we can put pretty much anything anywhere, but we're also getting to the point that anything we do put in is going to have to be creatively or stragetically placed.
people still flock to RB and quite a few believe it to be the best coaster in the park, right? well that was a decade after Magnum. I still say the floorless would draw. plus, its proven technology so you don't have to worry about glitches.

I see nowhere in the park, where we could fit a Scream/Medusa clone. If we were to get one it would be god darn creative. Plus, a sitdown would i think be better. More comfy, and we wont have any more, "My shoes are gunna fall off, can i put them here" problems.
What about the land behind American Eagle, or even between Viper and Whizzer? There is plenty of land there to build something good. Or possibly they could even build it over the employee parking lot, that'd be really creative.
coasterdude12 wrote:For some reason though, SCREAM! Got recognition as the greatest coaster ever. Probally because It was at Magic Mountain
My god! Magic Mountain is the most overrated park(More overrated than Disneyland)
Disneyland is the most UNDER RATED park!
And we DO NOT NEED A FLOORLESS. That would suck so bad. I really enjoyed scream, but most californians didnt, and it was never considered a great coaster. Unless they make the layout compact and fast/intense, itll be boring. Most floorlesses and b&m sit-downs are. The layouts are extremely repetative and the loops are so big you pull negative gs in them and they are really slow out of the mid-course breaks. And knowing six flags, they'll trim the hell out of it. WE DO NOT WANT A FLOORLESS. I dont even like it when people bring it up it gets me so freakin pissed off!!!!!!
I know how you guys think they could pull a record breaker out of their @$$es, but seriously, the chances are they will build a 150 foot tall 6 inversion floorless and market it as a new looping coaster, and the most impact it'll have is giving people something else to do and evening out the crouds. Not a great impact and certainly not a good use of 20 million dollars.
I want a 4d really bad, but I agree that we should wait a while to nsure it is reliable enough. At the same time, the ride is in better shape than goliath, riddlers, and superman the escape. They are all running 1 train and superman as closed all summer, but X has been running every day but wednesday with 2 train operation. Its so popular that besides the fact that it loads slow, it has 7 hour lines in the summer. Thats unbelievable. You could say its slow loading, but that couldnt be the excuse for all 6 hours over the wait for the average new ride.

Yes da rcman2001, lets get a prototype which will take the park three years to get running, when we could have a ride open on time with no large recurring problems, which would be semi-popular if it had more then six inversions. That's a great idea, you should go work for Six Flags and propose it! The worst part is they'd probably say yes considering they're past history in the field (ie: Vu...X) And for those of you who are saying "X is running fine now" now being the key word, it took them what? Two...Three years to do it?

Why don't you contribute more to the conversation then yelling at planea for doing what you are doing with that post!
My opinoin is exactly what i said before: We don't NEED a floorless, but it would be a great addition from every angle, inversions, advirtising, balance of people through the park, etc...(Depending on where it was built) I think it would be a good move for six Flags.
Response to Sedir: I, personally, never wanted a 4-D, and the anger toward types of rides arises out of the fact that not all coaters are the same. There is a big difference from X to Bull to Batman. It's a comletly different experiance to answer you question...
Chitown, I said the technology was proven, not that the crowds were guaranteed. what I meant was we wouldn't have maintence headaches.
as for the floorless vs. sit-down models, I really don't care. I just think any form of a giant, sit-down, mega looping coaster is what SFGA needs.
da rcman, GADv's Medusa cost 15 mil, not 20. and for the slightly smaller models, Hydra will supposidly cost 13 mil.
as for the other coasters at MM, I believe that they were slow operation due to insufficient staffing that MM hopes to change for next year, not due to maintence problems, as you suggessted.

When you say X has a six hour line do you really meen six hours or a really long line?
My opinion is i wouldn't care which one we get. I think that a 4d would be cool because its a 4d. And a floorless would have alot of inversions. A floorless can run more people though, but if B & M makes a 4d they always seem to have a way to make there lines about an hour. So i think that if they make a 4d it would have a station for unloading, and a seperate station for unloading. Or a double loading station like S;UF at Six Flags Over Georgia.
sixflagsguy5 wrote:When you say X has a six hour line do you really meen six hours or a really long line?
Well, when I went to SFMM last year and rode "X", the wait (to me) felt
like it was 6 hours, even though I was only in line for about 3 hours.
GREAT ride, horrible line system.
Floorless vs. 4D is a great type of discussion on what we would like at
SFGAm. I agree with some of you on this forum that we need more
inversions, due to Shockwave being gone. But, even if Shockwave
was still here, we would need new coasters. That way the park wouldn't
get too boring. I'm not saying that I get bored at GAm, but I would like
more variety than what they offer. Whether it's Floorless, 4D, Mega-looping,
SLC, whatever! Part of me would love for them to build a "Millenium Force",
but that is just a dream!
