My first was either Demon, or the ride at Santas Village (with the loop) and my first roller coaster was the one at Santas Village (the one in east dundee).
It's not how high or how fast you build the roller coaster it's how smooth you build it!
My first roller coaster ever was the Little Dipper at Kiddieland in Melrose park. But I really don't count that. My first "Big" coaster was American Eagle. I was in 2nd grade, which means I was 7 I believe. I was really scared, but with my older sisters and cousins going on, I really had no other choice. I went on it terrified and I couldn't wait until it was over. I got off thanking god I surivied. The rest of the day I went on smaller rides and stuff. The only other two roller coasters I went on that day was Rolling Thunder and the Whizzer. The next year was my first looper which was Demon. Ever since then I was hooked.
To me demon is a really great kiddie ride for the following reasons:1) Its much smallen than just about any other roller coaster there.2) They dont get headaches because they are usually short.3) It gives them a new experiance than the kiidie ccoasters. The reason I like it is because my little cousin and me went on it (his first time) when he was 9, he had soo much fun. Then he didnt go to the park for three years and this year (actually last) I took him again, and now he is 12 and I can not believe it, he went on Deja Vu in the front row! I was so proud of him, he is like my little brother I never had (sadly I have two sisters ).

I think I have the youngest. I have always been tall, and I remember American Eagle at 5! Now I think I must have hit Whizzer when I was three... And I had Rolling Thunder at 4 or 5... I used to think when I was little it got replaced by WHizzer. That's why I still hate it. Kids can be so dumb.
Hmm.. sounds like a lot of people started out on the Demon or other Arrow loopers, interesting. DejaVuGurl, as for riding first time at 3, that is totally incredible. Was that your choice or your parent's?
It was definitely my choice. In fact, I loved it so much I couldn't stop riding it. The last time I rode it was 2 summers ago, when I was with my friend, and boy was it painful, cause we were too big for it! Still fun though.
Yeah, it is. I think I didn't go on my second coaster until I was about 7-9 years old. It was the Little Dipper at Kiddieland. My third was SSR at SFGAm... then came BTR.
My first trip to Great America was way back in 1979, (yeah I'm old), I was only 8 yrs old. The coasters they had back then were the Tidal Wave, Willard's Whizzer, and Turn of the Century, which became Demon soon after. I was too afraid to go on any of the coasters, so I rode most of the flats and the water rides. However I remember the day for what happened to me there. After riding the old Hay Baler I was feeling sick, so may parents thought it would be a good idea to take a ride on Sky Whirl to ease my stomach. It didn't work! I lost my lunch right there inside one of the cages! Ah the memories.
i remember my first coaster was the viper at sf:og (the shuttle coaster that i think was the tital wave [i have no idea]) i chickened out on it and then rode it at the end of the day, and i remember going to paromounts:carowinds and i chickened out on the vortex, and the cyclone, and me and my friend pretended that we rode it and stood by the exit (we went with my band group) the next year i finally rode all of them and since then i'll ride anything.
My first coaster was the Beastie at PKI, when I was in 7th grade. My first real coaster was the nxt one we rode after that: The Beast. That ride scared the living crap right out of me. I think that if there wouldn't have been a second lift and the ride would just end right there w/out the helix, I would have never ridden another coaster again! The double helix on The Beast is what turned me into a coaster lover. My first looper was Demon, one year after The Beast.
My first coaster was Demon, back when I was about 6 or 7. The first time I went on it i was crying my eyes out! I had my eyes closed the entire ride. When I got off I was like lets go on it again!! But I had to wait untill i was taller to go on the other rides.
Its hard to come up with signatures. When I get one it will be right here.
My first ever coaster was The Demon. I was in 8th Grade and i remember this because i was afraid of going upside down lol. Anyway after Demon i went on to bigger and better things, I went on Shockwave and fell in love with it . That was 7 years ago. Then this past week, I made my first ever trip on Giant Drop. And like all the rides at GA it was awesome.MikeR.I.P Shockwave
giant drop is the only ride that really thrills me now. i get thrilled from fear, and everytime it starts going up news headlines pop into my head. "giant drop drops all the way" "braking system failure:six flags stunned" oh boy.
If there was a brake failure on Giant Drop, not from misaligned copper fins (which I doubt could happen, they are protected from almost everything, and they could only be knocked out of alignment while the ride is going up or down) there would be a lot more than headlines about people being killed on it. At least if the magnetic poles did suddenly switch again, the brakes would work the same. But who knows what would happen if it happend durring a switch. But those don't happen that often, like 1000s of years. So don't worry about brakes failing on Giant Drop.
