You are right, the food at Great America, you eat because it is there and you are hungry. If you are hungry later in the night, you will probably wait to get something on the way home. The food service at Great America is not good either, slow because of the lack of staffing at most places.

Great America is not the worst theme park food that I have had. The Cedar Fair parks earn that distinctive honor. Cedar Point and Dorney lead the way as the worst, with King's Island close behind, out of about 14 different parks this year. For some reason King's Dominion is better than average and does not fall into that category. But many things at Kings Dominion are better than a typical Cedar Fair park.

At parks like Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, Busch and Hershey, you eat because its good. These tend to the the top quality regional parks overall.

SFGAm food has been bad for a long time. Back in 2009 they filmed an episode of Dinner Impossible that made the park look pretty bad.

The chef had access to any ingredients in the park, and his challenge was to elevate theme park food. Except nowhere in the park, not even the sit down restaurants, had salmon, shrimp, scallops, any kind of white fish, celery, tomato juice...

So they got some of the ingredients from Key Lime Cove, and when Key Lime Cove didn't have any fresh seafood, they "elevated" SFGAm food by using frozen fish they bought at the grocery store. :)

^ Well..seafood isn't exactly typical theme park food either, so I wouldn't blame them for not having something a lot of parks don't have either.

The park food is obviously nothing great compared to what's outside of the park, but I think they've made some progress in the past few years.

I had to eat that garbage and be expected to call it at least acceptable, the food he made was somehow significantly worse than what the park serves normally. Best part of the dinner was gorging on empty waffle cones cause that's all that was edible and the coke.

One of my buddies ate the food but I never asked him about it. The food looked terrible. His whole "burnt basil cotton candy" thing was about as dumb as it gets. I feel bad for whoever had to clean that machine after Robert screwed it up.
