The train wouldn't be turned into a dark ride, the dark ride would have a Scenic Railway theme. Sorry if that wasn't clear...

It was a cheerleading competition.
I see. Is there going to be anything in STA this year?
http://rollercoaster.wikia.com/wiki/Cat ... _%26_Robin. This could be the coaster Great America revives for the 40th anniversary. Look for batman and robin the ride under six flags great America. I can't say that this coaster is really coming in 2016.

You do realize that some of the pieces are in Brazil, right? SFGAd sold it.
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
I did not know that. I would like still like to see this dueling inverted coaster. How about a floorless coaster in 2016. It will be the tallest, fastest and have the most inversions at 15. I know this will never happen but it's just an idea.

If the "dueling invert" you're talking about is B&R:TC, you're wrong. It was a Dueling Launched Coaster by Premier. Yeah, that World Record Breaking Floorless of yours will never happen, especially at SFGAm.

I know the floorless coaster will never happen it's just an idea so. How about a Kumba clone in SUF spot. Click the website link and you will see what this batman and robin the ride is.
This idea not only goes for Great.America, but for pretty much every six flags park. I think Six Flags should give each park a small "new" thing, and do a major TLC year. Give rides a fresh paint coat, redo some parts of rides that are rough(cough eagle helix cough), give neglected rides some care(flumes, bumper cars, etc), get new ride restraints(besides demon and non restraint rides), restore hometown square to it's formal glory, just restore everything old and make it new! It will make for new ride experiences not seen in a long time. The GP will love it, I will love it, and a lot of us would probably love it.
This idea also doesn't just go with great America but all the six flags parks that have the dark knight coaster. I would like to see DKC get a retheme to fit the triogly. I want to see this in 2016 along with a big steel looping coaster and maybe a thrill ride. Should all DKC be re-themed to the dark knight triogly or not?
Besides adding a new coaster for the 40 anniversary, I think some rides should be repainted or repaired. The Blue Side of Eagle should run backwards all year. The holding brake V2 should be brought back. Maybe demon should run backwards if possible.
IF by chance SFGAm does not put it another major coaster for it's 40th, I'd pretty much be content with a 'summer concert series' closed out with a decent fireworks display (maybe 2 nights in June, July and August, 6 nights total....just a thought).
I'm also not talking about 'one hit wonder' bands or just all 'newer bands' or 'teen heart throb bands' either. Mix it up with a variety of national acts throughout the summer. Classic rock? Country? 90's rock/alternative? Modern rock/pop? The amphitheater would come in great for something like that. And I also don't want to come across like SFGAm should hire $500,000 bands such as the Foo Fighters, Green Day or Fleetwood Mac, but at least a few that are well known to everyone and have a few hits.
I don't see why GA wouldn't build a coaster in 2016. I am hoping for a B&M floorless or sit down looping coaster. It should have a large loop that goes through the chain lift.
I think a new ride in 2016 would be a strong possibility but not necessarily a coaster. There was all that talk about a sky swing (whatever they're called) coming this year before it was announced to be Goliath. It would also be nice to update, paint and other general improvements as others have mentioned. Oh and the Ragin' Cajun spot could be where the swing could go if they got it.
I'm thinking SFGAm will go big in 2016 because of being in 40 years of operation. Here's my ideas of what they should do:
1. Historic Stuff: Bring back as much former Six Flags stuff as possible and bring back Opening Year Model thing. A small museum in the front of the park will be cool to display the history of the park.
2. Kids Area Expansion: Expand and retheme Camp Cartoon to Bugs Bunny National Park or something like that.
3. Repaint: A lot of coasters need new paint ASAP.
4. New Coaster: I'm seeing a pattern here for coasters. Everyone thought the new coaster for 2012, X-Flight, would be at the Iron Wolf site because of its removal. But instead they put X-Flight where it currently stands. In 2014, SFGAm went back to Iron Wolf's site and put in Goliath and took out Ragin Cajun the year before. So I can see a new coaster at Ragin Cajun's spot. But they are going to get rid of something else then to for more space, maybe Roaring Rapids. And in this spot, I wanna see a nice big Premier Rides Launch Coaster.
5. Mardi Gras Retheme: Let's face it, it's really dumb that they have two separate areas themed to New Orleans. So how about an area themed to the future? Or maybe something themed to cars like what PortAventura is doing with Ferrari Land? Any new theme is fine as long is fits the launch coaster I talked about in my 4th idea.

Well, Orleans Place and Mardi Gras are attached, so it's not really two "separate" areas, is it? And maybe I'm just old school, but I basically still consider Mardi Gras to be part of Orleans Place like it was originally, I really don't see the point in retheming it (and if they're going to retheme anything, why retheme the section that's the most recently redone in the entire park?)
Also, the entire theme of the park is "America". I don't really see how cars or the future fit into that.

It is according to Six Flags. And technically, Kidzopolis was the latest area.
What King's Dominion did this year is working very well. Bringing back original theming elements and refurbishing the park to give it back some of its original feel and magic.
Great America has an OUTSTANDING thrill ride collection. in my opinion it has the best collection of coasters in one location of any park, and a strong lineup of HUSS & Schawarzkopf flat rides plus a few more. That is really the only reason to come to this park, is for thrill rides. Which is enough for some people these days, but that is not what theme parks were intended to be. They are meant to be all around entertainment for everyone and an amazing atmosphere.
This is no longer a beautiful park. The landscaping is totally neglected now to the point where it is turning into weeds. Paint is peeling, fading. Much of the thematic elements have been lost in Yukon Territory (especially with that hideous, parking lot looking go-kart track in the center of it), County Fair (not much feels old-timey there now outside of AE station and a few buildings) and Orleans Place (too much superhero stuff). The concrete center of Hometown Square is miserable in the daytime, where it used to be pleastant with trees and a gazebo.
This park also does not have many things for non-thrill seekers to do. A couple shows, the skytower, the carrousel and MAYBE the train if it gets running again. It definiely needs some dark rides, etc that everyone can enjoy. They are missing a complete market of customers by only catering to thrill seekers. There is a reason Disney is the number 1 attended park in the world. They cater to everyone.
This park would highly benefit by doing the same kind of things KD did this year.
1. Return of landscaping. Removal of weeds and dead trees. 2. Painting buildings 3. 2016 will be AE's 35th. Repaint the ride and perfect the racing aspect. (it was racing well last week, just needs some minor tweaks). Retrack where needed. Maybe add a tunnel. This ride could be remarketed with minimal investment. It is still an amazing ride. 4. Removal of the superhero theming (thus saving licensing fees) and return of the theming that matches the section these rides are in. 5. Return of strong old-timey County Fair theming (everything is a hodge-podge of nothing in that area now). 6. A dark ride like Calico Mine Train at Knotts where the go-kart track is, returning the theming to Yukon Territory. 7. Landscaping the Gazebo area of Hometown Square again. 8. A second live show in Grand Music Hall or in the arena in Yukon Territory.
One last wishful thought would be return of the Sky Whirl as it was one of the park's icons. They probably is impossible as I believe all fo these rides are inoperative now.
With the correct marketing campaign, these changes could be done with a reasonable budget and bring back enough people to be profitable. The park is run down and people aren't returning because of it. The park has enough thrills, its time to focus on another aspect of improvement.
