New Music at SFGAm (Satellite?)

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I would rather not have themed carnival songs throughout the park, but rather normal songs, such as:

Venga Boys - "We Like to Party"
The Offspring- "I want to be Sedated"
Smash Mouth - "All Star"
Darude - "Sandstorm"

These are just some examples of songs that I'd rather hear throughout the day (especially in queue lines) instead of the wordless repeticious (is that a word??) tune that is normally played.

Alright they're trying to be more a family park, why plague it with hooligan music?

Sorry for the double post, but I think I figured out why it does that. I think I accidentally double-clicked the submit button, something I don't normally do.

It's patriotic music, it's a patriotic park, get over it. Those are all classic songs.

Who cares about musical theming on the midways? The music in front of the park should stay the same or be jazz music in my opinion, but the rest should be the six flags mixes. I dont think the music themes the sections too well, and the sections arent good enough anyway for the music to enhance it. I think at a park like ioa needs the music, but at gam, they should play the satalite songs because it just makes the midway more exciting and upbeat. Look at universal studios hollywood for example. It has no official themed sections, but different parts of the midways are extremely detailled to different stuff. They got the studios enterence, then they got a london street, new york street, moulin rouge, and old west too. At the same time, they dont play those kinds of music because the whole park just plays songs and soundtracks. In all, it still creates a good atmosphere.

the problem with popular music is that, from my experience, people fall into three categories of response to it: like it, annoyed by it, or offended by it. assuming that each song arouses all three of these responses equally, at any given time, the same music is making two thirds of the population unhappy which is not good.

while the theme music may get annoying and repetative, it provides additional atmosphere to the themed areas and rides. is it something you want to hear on the radio? no. but it does have its purpose and does it job well. I say keep the theme music.

Hear Hear!!

Remeber, those of you who go to the park every week don't care, because you are there all the time. There are people who go once a year, and some even make it their family vacation.

Smash Mouth is such a old song its lost all of its character. And their not going to play a song that refrains "I wanna be sedated" if they want to be a family friendly park. The theme music gives the park character

Noooo! I hope the music is the same. I love the music that's played on the midways. It's SFGAm music, it would be weird if it weren't there. I can easily recognize pretty much any song played, it would be devastating to not hear that music.

I completely agree that it wouldn't be Six Flags without the current music. It instantly puts you in a upbeat mood :P
