It has either a conveyor belt to bring the tubes to the top with people in it or it will have a conveyor belt just to bring the tubes to the top of a tower.
It is just like a normal waterslide, but instead of just going downhill, it has water jets which push the rafts to the top of the other hill and then there are more drops of the same. There is also usually enclosed parts of the ride where you twist and turn.
Also, the Abyss at Magic Waters cost the park somewhere between 1.0 million- 1.5 million dollars. It includes 2 enclosed tube slides. I forget how much Splashblaster cost.
The waterpark idea is not too bad, but I would never visit it just becuase of the fact that it will never compare to the Dells.
Also think about this.....
Hiring More Workers=Money To Pay Them=ALL Prices Go Up.
And the fact of the weather issues. I know it would be open from Memorial Day to Labor Day most likely but that doesn't mean that on Memorial Day it will be 80 degrees everyday until Labor Day.
Finally, I'm guessing from other people's post: The waterpark will charge extra from the main park. The GP aren't dumb. They won't pay $45 to get in the theme park and then another $30-40 to go into a waterpark with 10 slides and a few pools/wave pools.
^They would probably have a deal to get in both with just tickets, and not a season pass.

What happened to huge Lemon Chill Stand we were supposed to get in 2005? I was waiting for that. LOL
How big is the Hurricane Harbor at MM comparing it to an area at SFGAm? For instance, it takes up the Mardi Gras, or the whole SWT.

It will be built in the top of the new lighthouse near Yankee Harbor. The lighthouse will also be the entrance to the path that leads to the bridge over the highway to the new waterpark in the middle of the new business park. Then in 2006 there will be another path from the waterpark back across the highway that leads to our new 400' Floorless B&M Waverunner.
:end sarcasm:
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
The person that said that your not going to the water park because it wont be compared to Dells got me thinking that people wont go to it they will be like "its to small" or "they spent all that money on this." I know because I hang around ignorant people like that ( well not all of my freinds are like that ) and they just dont know but im for sure wont say that because I know thats how it suppose to be.
I just cant wait till next year! I get my license ( hopefully ) my car ( hopefully ), Batman Begins comes out and the Water Park!

No matter how hard it is...Never EVER give up. The real failure is those who dont try.
Personally I think people would go to it. Yes the Dells is nice and people would dish out the money to go once or twice a year. But, people would also be willing to go to SFGAM Waterpark also and more often because it is in their backyard and it will not be a little ity bity park. Its going to be huge.

You are most likely right due to the fact that they are buiilding something there as we speak.
You see I like the cubs and the white sox. If it came down to the world series I'd pick the cubs.
My family used to take one trip to the Dells, or one trip to SFGAm every year, both if we were really lucky. Now families can either do them both in one day, or use the MVP pass and come back the next day. Again we are appealing to families here.

I would assume he means that parking garages cost $$$ and lots of it. Great America would be better off to just flatten and pave over some of their unused land to make up for the missing spaces. however, if you look at how full the parking lot is this year, keep in mind that they've started using that pay more to park up front thing which eats up a lot of space. I haven't been to the park too many times this year, but when I have gone, that portion has been mostly empty. I know it would be stupid to set up the program one year and lose it the next, but they could open those spaces back up and they may not have to add any more.
I know that the water park will probably be outside of SWT, but I think that Great America should either start using the back entrance again or put that land to some other use (ie water park).
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.
We have just had the topic of a parking garage so many times on this board. So I guess a lot of you were to remember it. I suppose they could build one, and that might be a good chunk of the 35 mil going into the waterpark, but I doubt it.

I would have to agree with SFGA Bob. That additional fee parking lot is almost empty everytime I go. It's only been a year, but the gates don't cost that much money. They could use them for the waterpark, maybe.
I think that if they are going to lose parking spaces, then maybe they kept some space across the highway for parking. I dont know. But that parking lots going to be packed and it'llk overflow. I live in gurnee so I know my ground, and if you ask me, six flags should just buy 6 or so acres that are for sale in that circle by joes, olive garden, and IHOP. They could build parking for the water park there and shuttle people to the enterance.
I pray to god we get a master blaster and a tornado like sfne. Is 35 mill a lot for a water park? Maybe will get some really awesome slides. I have two questions that will help me get a better idea on how big the water park will be:
1. How much did the addition on sfne's water park cost last year?
2. How much money was sfgadv's 45 acre water park?
