Mike how can you say V2 is reliable, it has had extended SBNO periods during the season almost every year since it was built. It's probably the most unpredictable coaster in the park now with DejaVu gone.
I've never seen V2 down except at the beginning of the season when they were still putting the train on the track. Actually I can't really think of any rides at Great America that are really unreliable except for Yankee Clipper.

^ Fright Fest 2001, August 2005, Spring 2009, Fright Fest 2010. These were all ATLEAST 2 weeks in length and all caused by ride issues. There may be (probably are) but I'm too lazy to research right now.
Can also add to that in that since the ride was built, and actually within the past few years the V2 has gotten a new train, and the holding break hasn't worked in a few years also now. Holding break may be intentionally off as a cost saving measure, but a new train in less than 10 years of operation is pretty bad.

No suprise. Intiman also has a reputation for train realiability. Just look at the diffeence in train design for Top Thrill Dragster since the year it openend till' now. Also look at I305, they've made like 4 different modifications to those trains in just ONE SEASON . And to top it off, the year Kingda Ka first opened, a liner in the train was destroyed just after I think it was 3-4 weeks just after the grand opening of the ride. Those are the only major ones I can think of off the top of my head but im sure there are many others.
Unlike those, V2 (and Wicked Twister and other impulses), the train issues didn't present a life threatening danger to riders
Oddly on Wicked Twister for the past few years it's been running half old cars and half new cars, though that falls in line with standard Cedar Fair maint. procedures. Don't fix it til it's dangerous
Also for Kingda Ka it was the catch car trough liner that popped. It damaged a train, but the train didn't cause it.

I know our park will definitely NOT get Kingda Ka. Just kinda putting it out there incase anyone starts a new chain of replies stating whether we are or aren't getting Kingda Ka. You don't have to research it. Its kind of obvious.
Where in my post did I say we were getting it? That can't happen anyway because Great America cannot build anything taller than Sky Trek Tower.
I never said we were getting it and you never said we were getting it. Its obviously not stated that our park is/will get Kingda Ka. Your post never said we were gonna get it and I never said we are. I just said what I said because theres people out there, that once they see a roller coaster gets taken out of a park, they start to wonder if our park will get it because they want a roller coaster so bad. Then they start replying and asking if our park will get it and they start complaining that we won't...etc. Its one long cliche chain of events. I'm used to this process.
I just didn't wanna see and waste my time potentially reading something like that in case anyone were to post it. Plus It happened when Chang was first announced that it was being taken out of its home park. People were wondering, are we gonna get this coaster? That coaster? Any coaster? I personally don't like talking about rumors and falsely get my hopes up, I really only like real stated facts.
But anyway...its cool to know that Sky Trek Tower I guess is the tallest thing in the park and is the marker for height restrictions. You learn something new everyday.
This post is obviously not about CHANG, the story is long extinct, but anyway here is another rumor I found on screamscape:
"While it’s still a bit early to predict that this project is locked in, I’ve heard that there is a good chance that the new coaster planned for Six Flags Great America may be a copy of the ZacSpin style Green Lantern coaster going into Magic Mountain. It will likely have a unqiue theme of it’s own however, and go into the old big splash boat ride site. Look for the Antique Car ride that surrounds this site to likely be removed as well."
It is just a rumor. Lets not get excited or dissipointed. It is way to early to predict everything. We got the whole 2011 season to look foward to. Lets not worry about 2012 just yet. Once we get conformation on anything, then people can complain.
By the way i'm that SFGAm knows that a ZacSpin may not cover the capacity situation the park has been facing lately.
It would fit where RC is, with very little modification to the surrounding area. I like that idea, about as much I can adding a coaster to SFGAm with such low capacity
Either that or put it where the Edge used to be and move or flat out get rid of King Chaos.

I like ragin cajun by far better than The dark knight. Its the extremely sharp turns tdk makes that kinda ruin the experience for me. Ragin cajun has turns and spins and really bigger dips than TDK. IDK thats just me though.
I was SUPER bored at work today and came across this thread just to learn about Chang. rather interesting to read people's opinions about "will we / won't we" get a new ride in 2012, "we don't need a ride" etc.
A fun read to be sure. And apparently there is a site that people regard like TMZ called Screamscape. Maybe when we are board in the off-season we can make up fake rumours and get them to post them.
Either way, a fun read considering we do know what we are getting, where it's at, etc.
I still think a ZacSpin where Iron Wolf is would be cool. One of those huge Windseekers? (big tall swing ride) would be cool as well.
I forsee a GCI coming. It would fit a Yukon theme well, is cost effective, and has decent capacity. Got a feeling it would be more in the 2015/16 range though.
If a GCI came, I could see them removing the theater which would provide decent room for a new coaster. However, I also got to thinking that they could relocate Spacely's somewhere else in the park (not sure where just an idea) which would provide even greater room on that side of Yukon Territory. I agree though, nothing really fits Yukon better than a woodie.

I honestly don't get why they didn't retheme Wiggles to Looney Tunes. That is something that they could have done relatively easily and cheap. They probably could have reused many of the statues and theming from BBNP.

if they kept them. Maybe licensing is starting to get expensive from Warner bros. More then likely they didn't keep the stuff I'd guess.
