Huh, could have swore the announcement was on February 19th. I feel think they will have a huge announcement announcing Holiday In The Park and Mardi Gras Festival. Hopefully they will also announce the name of World's Largest Looper and the biggest Fright Fest ever. Also you would think they could confirm Last Call again for this year. Why do you guys think barely any rides will be open? Don't you remember 2017 Closing Weekend.
1.) Steel Vengeance 2.) Iron Gwazi 3.) The Voyage 4.) El Toro 5.) Velocicoaster Ragin Cajun and Iron Wolf went from Six Flags Great America to Six Flags America. I guess they weren't GREAT anymore.
Well, as for rides during HITP... We went down to St. Louis to close the season out. It was very cold for them. We were there for seven days, four of which they closed on, and no rides were running on the other three. Well, almost no rides, just the carousel, ferris wheel and scrambler. The "warmest" days were in the mid 20's and near 30 or so, but I don't think it got over freezing. Regardless, nothing much ran.
So, if that is any indication, I don't see it working here. But we still enjoyed our time there, freezing and all, the lights were nice, the shows were nice, but it was cold. We did close out Last Call, and that seemed warmer and many more rides were going. Still, I just have a hard time seeing this work here, but would be pleasantly surprised if they could make it work somehow.
Whizzer Whiz Kid wrote:Alright so while that is possible, two parks have already confirmed Mardi Gras for this season: SFA and SFFT. As far as I know they have two sets of this Mardi Gras thing.
And while I'm still not sold on it, I was bored today so I made a map of what I think would be open if we did get Holiday In the Park.
EDIT: Minus Bucky Battle, Sky Trek Tower, and Hometown Park
2 Things: I think Viper and Chubasco could be open No freaking way Whizzer would work in Winter
If you look at Cedar Fair's Non-California Winterfests they were pretty amazing. They were about the lights, shows, and food. Ours doesn't have to be like that but it would be cool if it was because most likely not a ton of rides will be open. I hope with the rides that are open they rename them to a Christmasy theme. Like Whirligig could be called Whirligift See what I did there.
