It will be fun to see if lines actually form around Wolf in the coming weeks. very interesting to see if people will care that it is leaving outside of the coaster enthusiasts.
^Good luck on that. Maybe, last day it will crowded, but I don't see it. And I don't think SF will say anything. If you keep it a secret, less people will bug them about keeping it. Wah, wah can you save Iron Wolf? It's my favorite ride. They want the ride gone. It's planned for them to get rid of it, and they don't want to hear all the general public say this and that about it. Instead, you surprise people about it, and the park goes oh it's too late. It's being dismantled already.

After riding IW today im ready for it to go. It broke twice while i was in line. The line only went down the stairs!!!!! It was very rough today and the ride ops were rude. AND I WAS IN THE FRONT!!!!

The ride ops on Iron Wolf suck, they let 2 rows go with no one in them and the line was 45 minutes. They also let this guy get his own personal row when other people were waiting to get on that row.
IW was a tough cookie to operate due to the lack of common sense from guests. Very rarely were intervals hit (but it can be done) but the biggest factor against it is the way the station is set-up so people could never get to the end rows of the train if they weren't doing any kind of crowd control. I would hope SFA would take this into consideration when they rebuild. However, given the compact footprint of the ride by the station area, there probably isn't a whole lot that can be done, unless they switch load/unload around.
In fact, most Stand-Up Coasters seem to have similar issues with people being totally clueless on how to properly board and situate themselves so as to increase throughput.
It's a very simple thing to fix. Add more queing in the station for just the front row. As I said before, once they seem to make a line, they like to keep it that way unless it's a money making thing. Than, they do nothing really. It's the same thing as Batman. They could easily figure something out to separate the lines, but they don't.

It was always so funny that our park had such an unpopular ride for years and they did nothing about it. No rehab work done on it, nothing. Now, that won't happen anymore. All the IW jokes will end.

So according to TTDfan 52 we're getting a Ferris wheel and an unknown roller coaster. I dont think a ferris wheel is possible without a height variance by now.

OH MY GOD! DEJA VU MARC...DEJA VU
Xlight total rides: 50 times and in every row except front row left wing.

If we get Deja Vu I'd be shocked, but then again I'd get to ride it for the first time if it came here.

*Facepalm* I meant Deja vu...like litteraly i had deja vu from what Anthony said the other day

Actually, depending on what they are building, they still have plenty of time to apply for a height variance. Obviously a large roller coaster would need a permit granted earlier than a smaller coaster would.
Example: SFGAm did not request a height variance for Deja Vu until the Sept. 27th, 2000 meeting of the Gurnee Zoning Board of Appeals. http://www.gurnee.il.us/ZBA/minutes/09-27-2000 (at the bottom.)
I'd assume if a ride like a Zac Spin, giant ferris wheel, or a Eurofighter were on its way, that they still have plenty of time to go before the Gurnee ZBA.
I could see a Ferris Wheel to occupy the SWF/GAR location but the IW footprint seems too large to just plop in a Ferris Wheel, unless they plan to expand Camp as well. As for the "coaster at the entrance", that could mean up by pictorium and then they'd re-route the exit area for it but I'm not sure where else "at the entrance" could signify if that's even true. But Riptide Bay utilized much of that area as well.
I wouldn't rely too much on the "bottom of the totem pole" ride operator employees. As much as they'd like to think they know what's going on.....they don't (not that I have anything against them or their jobs). Supervisors and up were the only ones that knew and they weren't allowed to say anything no matter who tried to get it out of them.
When i put up that link i was pointing out the "How did you know" that the ride op said. Not the coaster in front of the park where are they going to fit that. I think we would have saw something by now if that were happaning

With the two large spaces we'll have with IW gone and the SWF area, I would be surprised to see a coaster crammed into the front of the park. The ride op's reaction is definitely significant. Just more proof of what we had already figured out.
monsterfan99 wrote:As pointed out above, front line employees tend to be the last to know any news.
Yeah. I am the one who first pointed it out. But I would think that the employees who work IW regularly might know it's going away. Knowing what attractions are coming is where I usually ignore the employee talk.
