CHANG WATCH: The Official Topic

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby BrianPlencner on September 22nd, 2009, 3:05 pm
^ Going along with that, if you recall back during the 2002 season, Superman items started showing up in the park (T-Shirts, watches, mugs, etc). Yet, we did not have a Superman ride in the park. Then in 2003, what did we get? We got S:UF.

History does repeat itself, so if you are seeing Bizzaro merchandise at SFGAm, its only a matter of time before that coaster comes to the park.

New Predictions:
Bizzaro Iron Wolf- 2010
Glow In Dark/HH- 2011

I now have a feeling Chang will go somewhere else, and we are just getting the trains. They probaly want to put it in a park like SFA where they really need it.

^ Six Flags America already has a pipeline coaster on site that has been rotting, lets not do the same with Chang. Obviously they do not care about that park. If you are going to send it to another park, send it to Fiesta Texas or St. Louis.

Remember when Shapiro said every park was getting something large for the 50th in 2011. Odds are, this is some parks 50th anniversary gift. This is what is known/guessed for the 50th so far

Kentucky Kingdom - Massive water park expansion
Over Texas - Texas Giant is being refubed for an entire year for the 50th season
SF America - Thomas Town (forgot if that is 2010 or 2011)

If that is the case, there are 3 parks it will not be going to for 2011.

I actually liked the park a lot for the 5 hours I was there. Not the best park, but perfectly fine for a medium size regional park. The staff there was slow but very nice. Outside of T2 sucking and loosing my Flash Pass, not a bad part of my day there.

Yeah, I actually liked it kind of also, I was there for 6 hours but got all the credits in one. This place had potential but now not so much with their major coaster being taken away..

See that's what I am thinking...People are already going to go for the "new" coaster. But they have to do something to Iron Wolf to get ridership back, which is why they would "Bizzaro" IW.

Yeah Iron Wolf seriously needs some work to bring riders back because even during fright fest i cannot even remember seeing a line at the actual entrance. Just give us something we can be happy with for 10years and let us be on our way. If we get Chang ill be happy for an estimated 4-5years(maybe) lol

^ Something does have to be done about ridership on Iron Wolf. On Season Passholder night, the ride was beyond dead. I found a place I wanted to take some photos of the ride. A IW train just pulled into the station and I expected another one to follow. It was over 25 minutes later until the next train due to no one wanting to ride. I even had to ask if it was broke, but it was not.

Here is another clue that this might just be happening. The alien/military exhibit that has been in the Space Shuttle America area is now going to be in Yukon Territory for Fright Fest.

Cell Block "A" Scare Zone

Aliens have invaded Six Flags Great America at this free walk through scare area. Located in Yukon Territory.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Well, they are saying new attraction for Space Shuttle area. However, do we know that Chang is coming in 2010? Maybe, something else is coming in that area, and in 2011, we get Chang.

I didn't know they established that "2010" a new attraction would be coming for the Space Shuttle Area! I just thought they said, "Yes a new attraction would be coming"

So are 2 possibilities are, Move Go Carts to SWF and tear down Space Shuttle for CHANG!

Or move DDD and put Chang in DDD/SWF spot! but then what about the Go Carts, DDD would not FIT where Space Shuttle is if Go Carts Remain there!

So i can only see it possible that it would go upfront, unless someone would like to enlighten me on this!

They only reason they put it there was for storage (SFA has TONS of land), they were not even planning on operating it. So if it went there there not just going to let it rust

Everyone,

Just thought I would post this update from the SFKK webpage. They have updated the page to show that Chang is closed. No mention that it is leaving the park yet.

^^ No plans at all  Considering the fact it could have been scrapped for cash instead of spending the money to move it.

^ Well, Shockwave and Demon were both operating at the same time, were both arrow loopers and people went on both of those and people never said "get rid of one because there's another just like it on the other side of the park". And while it is confirmed that it's (Chang) being dismantled, no specifics have been made as to where it is headed, other than "it is going to another six flags park".

Not to mention that even though Shaprio did put two "wild mouse" coasters in the park, they still aren't an exact copy of the same ride. Much like Vampire and the SLC will be.....both inverted, but two totally different ride experiences...yes I agree that GE could have used it (since it's been sitting there since forever and a day) but obviously they saw things in a different way, and whether or not it makes sense to this kind of community, it must make sense to SF since they made the "go ahead" with it.

Sorry im on my mobile internet & for some reason it chops most of everyones posts in half so I can't read everything....so if we have this established, I apologize.

About 4days ago a crew member of mine told me his sister(a park operation manger for SFKK) said the rumors of the park focusing on a waterpark are high now cause demolition was to start at 6pm the next day. She said through text as well that all coasters but T2 & ThunderRun were to be taken down by this year.....interesting. Well sure enough I have recently called SFKK & I simply asked when FF began. I later asked if all attractions were scheduled to be open and she said "no", so I played it off and said oh because of weather related issues? She again said no and said "we may have maintenence related issues but all of our attractions are scheduled to be open all weekend"....so I said "chang and all that will be open? Great!"....."Sir chang is no longer in operation with us". BAM!

I really hope its on its way here only if B&M hands us over the trains for the 1st born & somehow converts Chang. I don't know what heartlining engineering would go into play & how difficult itd be but how amazing it would be. As much as id love the bizarro retheme, seeing I've been on both, id like an original name with those same effects......the Flash, Green lantern, Captn America, Catwoman...somethin! Haha

So before we all get hyped up to the max, what are the honest chances of us getting this coaster? Seriously.
